The Marlins promoted Conine from High-A Beloit to Double-A Pensacola on Sunday, Aram Leighton of JustBaseball.com reports.
Conine will get a tougher test after he clubbed a minor-league leading 23 home runs over 66 games at Beloit. The power production came with a dismal 35.8 percent strikeout rate, however, and the lack of consistent contact coupled with Conine's advanced age -- he turned 24 years old earlier this month -- limits his appeal in dynasty leagues.

Conine was traded from Toronto to Miami in exchange for Jonathan Villar, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports.
Villar is notorious for being better in fantasy than reality, which is why this may not seem like an even trade on paper. Conine has huge left-handed power (.293 ISO at Low-A), but it comes with a lot of swing and miss. His 35.9 percent strikeout rate in the Midwest League would be concerning at any level, but it is even more troubling given that Conine was old for the level. Conine is the son of Jeff Conine, who played eight seasons for the Marlins.

Conine went 3-for-4 with a solo home run for Low-A Lansing on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old has gone yard three times in the last five games, and Conine is now slashing .330/.411/.670 through 29 games with nine homers and 23 RBI. His 13:42 BB:K is a concern, but the Jays' No. 12 fantasy prospect is still doing an awful lot of damage when he does make contact. A promotion to High-A should be coming soon, but Conine will have to improve his plate discipline as he climbs the ladder if he's going to eventually join Toronto's other second-generation youngsters in the majors.

Since completing his 50-game suspension to begin the season for violating the minor-league drug prevention and treatment program, Conine has been on an absolute tear in the Midwest League. Through 12 games, the 21-year-old outfielder is hitting .438 with 13 extra-base hits. It likely won't be long before Conine moves up to High-A Dunedin.

After collecting a single and striking out twice in his first game of the season Wednesday, Conine showed little rust in game No. 2. The Blue Jays' No. 13 fantasy prospect missed the first 50 games due to a PED suspension, but given that he's already 21 years old and was a second-round pick out of Duke in 2018, his stay in the Midwest League could be a brief one if he continues punishing opposing pitchers like this.
