Royals' Brady Singer: Struggling at WBC
Singer gave up four runs on four hits over two innings in his lone appearance for Team USA at the World Baseball Classic.
Fantasy managers should be concerned for a couple of reasons. One is that Singer has made just three competitive appearances between Cactus League and WBC play. He's also logged just 6.2 innings this spring, which leaves some doubts about how stretched out he'll be to begin the regular season. With Singer's poor performance on the international stage, his usage has been limited. He should be fine long-term, but with the USA making a deep run in the tournament, he'll likely get only one or two more outings in the Cactus League before the 2023 campaign gets underway.

Royals' Brady Singer: Loses arbitration hearing
Singer lost his arbitration hearing Wednesday and will be paid $2.95 million in 2023, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
Singer had requested $3.325 million. The right-hander broke out for the Royals in 2022, holding a 3.23 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 150:35 K:BB over 153.1 innings. He could serve as Kansas City's Opening Day starter in 2023, with veteran Zack Greinke also in the mix.

Royals' Brady Singer: Tagged with six runs
Singer (10-5) allowed six runs on seven hits and a walk over 5.2 innings Friday, striking out six and taking a loss against Cleveland.
Singer kept the Guardians off the board through four innings before coughing up an RBI single to Will Brennan in the fifth frame. Cleveland then piled on five runs in the sixth, including Jose Ramirez's three-run shot. Singer had won six straight decisions dating back to Aug. 9 before Friday's rough outing, posting a 1.89 ERA and a 50:12 K:BB during that stretch. The 26-year-old righty finishes the 2022 campaign with a 3.23 ERA and a 150:35 K:BB through 153.1 innings.

Royals' Brady Singer: Goes seven strong in win
Singer (10-4) gave up one earned run on five hits and two walks while striking out eight over seven innings to earn the win in a 5-1 victory over Mariners on Friday.
Singer handled the Mariners with ease, with the only damage coming on a solo home run off the bat of Cal Raleigh in the second inning. Singer has put together a breakout campaign in his second full season starting in the majors. The 26-year-old right-hander now has a 2.99 ERA in 147.2 innings pitched. His xFIP of 3.31 coming into the game suggests that his success could be sustainable going forward. Singer will look for his 11th win of the year his next time out, which is expected to be at Cleveland.

Royals' Brady Singer: Strikes out five in win
Singer (9-4) earned the win Saturday, allowing no runs on five hits while striking out five batters and walking one over six innings.
Singer continued his career year by tossing 59 of 89 pitches for strikes across six frames and not allowing a run to score despite allowing five hits and a walk. The righty has three quality starts and two wins in a row. Since Aug. 3, Singer has gone 5-1 and given up 15 earned runs in 56 innings for a 2.41 ERA, picking up seven quality starts along the way. Singer (8-4) earned the victory Sunday over Detroit, striking out six in seven scoreless innings while allowing four hits and a walk.
Three of the five baserunners Singer allowed reached in the first two innings, but he settled down and scattered two hits over his final five frames, retiring 10 straight at one point. It was the seventh time in his last 11 starts that he allowed one or fewer runs and pitched at least six innings. Royals' Brady Singer: Continues standout stretch
Singer (7-4) earned the win over Arizona on Wednesday, pitching seven innings and allowing one run on four hits and no walks while striking out six batters.
Singer cruised through four scoreless frames before Daulton Varsho knocked a solo shot off the right-hander in the fifth. That looked like it might be enough to tag the Kansas City ace with the loss as Zac Gallen outdueled him with six shutout innings, but a late offensive surge by the Royals turned things around and handed Singer his third victory over his past four starts. He's been tossing the ball well for over a month, picking up eight quality starts over his past nine outings and compiling an outstanding 2.01 ERA along with a 62:16 K:BB across 58.1 innings over that stretch. The 2018 first-round draft pick has blossomed in his third big-league campaign, recording a 3.15 ERA and 1.11 WHIP through 21 appearances, including 18 starts.
