  • Brewers' Brice Turang: Hits bench versus lefty

Turang is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds. The lefty-hitting Turang will hit the bench against Reds southpaw Andrew Abbott, but the young infielder previously sat out the series opener Friday, when the Brewers opposed a right-hander (Graham Ashcraft). Turang still appears to have a tentative hold on a regular role in the middle infield when the Brewers face right-handed pitching, but with Luis Urias (hamstring) returning from the injured list Monday and Willy Adames (concussion) likely on track to be activated Thursday, Turang and Andruw Monasterio will both soon see their playing time second base and shortstop take a major hit.

  • Brewers' Brice Turang: At shortstop Wednesday

Turang is starting at shortstop and batting seventh Wednesday versus the Blue Jays. Turang has lost a lot of potential reps at second base to the hot-hitting Owen Miller, but he could continue to be a regular presence at short for the Brewers while Willy Adames recovers from a concussion. Turang holds a brutal .215/.264/.315 slash line on the season, though he has tallied three homers and seven steals.

  • Brewers' Brice Turang: Three-hit day in win

Turang went 3-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's win over the Cardinals. Turang cranked out the first three-hit performance of his young professional career after garnering a rare start against a lefty (Jordan Montgomery). It was just his third start against a left-hander this season and it remains to be seen if his success Tuesday night will lead to more opportunities against southpaws. Turang has put together a nice month at the plate so far, slashing .325/.327/.425 with three homers, three RBI, five runs and a 3:12 BB:K over 43 plate appearances.

Turang went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer in Sunday's 9-6 win over the Royals. Turang took Jose Cuas deep to center in the third to cap off a seven-run inning by the Brewers. The long ball was his third of the year and just his first since April 17. Turang has picked it up some at the plate after he was slumping for a good majority of April. Over 11 games in May, he's slashing .313/.371/.438 with three RBI, five runs and a 3:10 BB:K. It's the first homer of the infielder's career, and it came off Tommy Hunter in the blowout victory. Turang has performed well in the first four games of the season for the Brewers, and the hot start gives him a good chance of solidifying himself as the starting second baseman for Milwaukee in the 2023 campaign.

Turang went 1-for-3 with a single during the Brewers' 4-0 loss to the Cubs on Thursday. Turang wasted no time getting his first career MLB hit, reaching on an infield single in his first at-bat during the third inning. It also gave the 23-year-old infielder a chance to showcase his elite speed, which could translate into a good amount of stolen bases in 2023.

  • Brewers' Brice Turang: Cracks Opening Day roster

The Brewers informed Turang on Monday that he'll be included on the Opening Day roster. Turang has had a solid showing this spring, sporting a .282/.349/.385 batting line with one home run and three stolen bases. The plan is for him to be the regular second baseman at least against right-handed pitching, with Luis Urias likely handling third base. Meanwhile, Brian Anderson could see more time in the corner outfield with Turang making the team, at least until Tyrone Taylor (elbow) is ready. While he could be stuck toward the bottom of the batting order, Turang could be a fantasy asset right away due to his wheels.

  • Brewers' Brice Turang: Turning it up of late

Turang went 3-for-8 (.375) with a double, an RBI, three runs, a walk and a stolen base over his last three exhibition appearances. Turang racked up just a pair of singles over his first four games of the spring, but he got going a bit over the past week. Turang has a case to break camp with the big club, but given the glut of infielders on Milwaukee's 40-man roster, it seems most likely he will begin the season with Triple-A Nashville.
