Guardians' Eli Morgan: Snags second win
Morgan (2-0) allowed two unearned runs on one hit and struck out one in one inning to earn the win Saturday over the Angels.
Morgan surrendered a two-out, two-run home run to Zach Neto after Matt Thaiss reached on an error in the eighth inning. The Guardians then rallied ahead in their half of the frame to help Morgan pick up his second win in 14 appearances. He's allowed four runs (two earned) over his last 4.1 innings, but he's still been fairly consistent in a versatile role. The right-hander has a 1.06 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 18:4 K:BB, one save and two holds through 17 innings.

Guardians' Eli Morgan: Secures win
Morgan (1-0) allowed a hit and struck out one over one inning, earning the extra-inning win Wednesday over the Athletics.
Morgan has had a productive series in Oakland, earning a win and a save in his last two appearances. The right-hander was dialed in with 15 of his 19 pitches going for strikes Wednesday. He's given up a hit in each of his four outings this season, but he also boasts a 6:1 K:BB and has allowed only one unearned run through four innings. With James Karinchak struggling early on, there's a chance Morgan's strong pitching could lead to him featuring as a high-leverage option as part of the bridge to closer Emmanuel Clase.

Guardians' Eli Morgan: Picks up save
Morgan allowed an unearned run on a hit in one inning Monday. He struck out one and earned a save against Oakland.
Morgan entered a 12-10 game in the 10th inning and coughed up just one run to finish off the late-night slugfest. He's now worked through three innings with a 5:1 K:BB while allowing just one unearned run. It was Morgan's first career save but he shouldn't see too many opportunities moving forward.

Guardians' Eli Morgan: Mixed results in early spring
Morgan has allowed three earned runs on five hits and no walks while striking out four over three innings in three Cactus League games.
Morgan's solid control is nothing new -- he posted a 1.8 BB/9 over 66.2 innings last season. Given the right-hander's solid work as a reliever and the Guardians' stable set of starters, Morgan figures to pitch primarily out of the bullpen in 2023. He also had a 3.38 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 72:13 K:BB with 10 holds last year, so he could work his way into being part of the setup mix, though a multi-inning role is most likely.

Guardians' Eli Morgan: Collects fifth win
Morgan (5-3) allowed a hit in a scoreless inning to pick up the win Monday over the Royals.
Morgan worked the ninth inning in a tied game and kept it that way before the Guardians took the lead in the 10th. This was his first win since June 29 -- over his 17 appearances between victories, he posted a mediocre 6.88 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, four holds and a blown save in 17 innings. He's at a 4.00 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 62:10 K:BB with 10 holds and four blown saves through 54 innings overall in a mid-leverage role.

Guardians' Eli Morgan: Takes third loss
Morgan (4-3) took the loss in the second game of Monday's doubleheader versus the Tigers. He allowed two runs on two hits in one inning.
Morgan has allowed multiple runs in three of his five appearances in August, though Monday was the first time he took a negative result this month. The right-hander was very sharp for the first two months of the season, but he's surrendered 18 runs (17 earned) in his last 15.1 innings since June 21. Overall, he owns a 4.25 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 57:8 K:BB through 48.2 frames while adding 10 holds and four blown saves.

Guardians' Eli Morgan: Perfect across two innings
Morgan struck out two in two perfect innings during Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the White Sox.
Morgan was called upon for a multi-inning assignment after starter Aaron Civale (wrist) left after the first inning. This was a better performance for Morgan, who's had some mixed results lately. He's allowed eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits -- including three home run -- in his last seven innings. During that span, he has three blown saves, a win and a hold. The right-hander still owns a solid 2.90 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 49:6 K:BB across 40.1 innings, but there's been some signs of regression after an unsustainable run of good performance in May and early June.

Guardians' Eli Morgan: Picks up extra-inning win
Morgan (4-2) earned the win in Wednesday's 7-6, 10-inning victory over the Twins. He allowed three runs (two earned) on two hits and struck out two in one inning.
Morgan allowed three runs in the 10th inning, but the Guardians were able to bounce back and walk it off with a Josh Naylor blast. It appears regression has started to get to Morgan, who has allowed runs in each of his last three appearances, which have included two blown saves. He still has a strong 2.75 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and 45:6 K:BB with six holds through 36 innings across 23 outings. The right-hander has worked his way into some setup opportunities, but continued struggles could see him slip back into middle relief.

Guardians' Eli Morgan: Snares win over Dodgers
Morgan (3-2) allowed a hit and a walk and struck out three in 1.2 innings to earn the win Sunday over the Dodgers.
Morgan allowed an inherited runner from starter Shane Bieber to score in the seventh inning, but the Guardians tied the game in the eighth and went ahead in the ninth to put the reliever in line for the win. In his last 20 innings, Morgan has not been responsible for an earned run, and the three unearned runs he gave up all came in one appearance. He's been strong in a multi-inning role with a 1.62 ERA, 0.57 WHIP and 42:6 K:BB through 33.1 innings overall, and he's also picked up six holds.

Guardians' Eli Morgan: Blown save and loss
Morgan (2-2) blew the save and took the loss Saturday against the Athletics, allowing three unearned runs on two hits and zero walks while striking out two over two-thirds of an inning.
Morgan entered the game with the lead but gave up a go-ahead grand slam to Seth Brown in the bottom of the seventh inning. Despite letting four runners cross the plate, the righty reliever escaped without an earned run and now has gone 11 straight appearances without allowing an earned run. Although he took the loss and blew the save, Morgan lowered his ERA to 1.91.

Guardians' Eli Morgan: Snags win Wednesday
Morgan (2-1) struck out two in 1.2 perfect innings to earn the win Wednesday over the Rangers.
Morgan wouldn't have gotten the chance for a win if it weren't for a rain delay in the fifth inning that took starter Shane Bieber out of the game. To his credit, Morgan turned in another strong appearance. He hasn't allowed a run in his last 14.1 innings, picking up a win and all five of his holds this year in that span. He has a 1.95 ERA, 0.51 WHIP and 34:4 K:BB in 27.2 innings overall as a reliable multi-inning reliever, and his 2.27 FIP suggests this is a stat line he's earned rather than lucked into thus far.

Guardians' Eli Morgan: Throws perfect inning Tuesday
Morgan struck out two in a perfect inning in Tuesday's 7-3 loss to the Astros.
Morgan has often been tasked to get more than three outings in a bulk-relief role this season. He's given up runs in four of his nine appearances, but he's pitched to a solid 3.18 ERA, 0.65 WHIP and 21:3 K:BB across 17 innings. Limiting walks and keeping the ball in the yard -- he's allowed just two home runs -- have been contributing factors in his success, but he's still working in mostly low-leverage situations.

Guardians' Eli Morgan: Sees bulk-relief duties
Morgan allowed a run on one hit and struck out three across 3.1 innings in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Blue Jays.
Morgan served in a bulk-relief role behind spot starter Konnor Pilkington. Four of Morgan's six outings this season have been longer than an inning as he continues to work as a swingman. He's pitched reasonably well with a 4.05 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and 15:2 K:BB through 13.1 innings, but he's unlikely to be a factor in fantasy unless he gets moved into the rotation.

Guardians' Eli Morgan: Handed loss in short outing
Morgan (1-1) allowed two runs on one hit and two walks over three innings Friday, striking out five and taking a loss against the Yankees.
Morgan got through 2.2 innings with little resistance from the Yankees. He then issued a two-out walk to DJ LeMahieu followed by a two-run homer off the bat of Aaron Judge. The 25-year-old righty has coughed up four runs over his last four innings of work. Morgan will likely head back to the bullpen with Cal Quantrill expected to return from the COVID-19 injured list Saturday.

Guardians' Eli Morgan: Starting Friday
Morgan is starting Friday's game against the Yankees, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
Morgan's first three appearances of the year have come as a reliever, and he's posted a 4.50 ERA and 0.83 WHIP in six innings. However, he made 18 starts for Cleveland last year and will step in as a starter in Friday's series opener after Cal Quantrill was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Wednesday. Morgan is likely to be limited to about 60 pitches given his highest pitch count of the season so far is 46.

Guardians' Eli Morgan: Snares win over Reds
Morgan (1-0) earned the win Wednesday versus the Reds. He allowed a run on one hit and no walks with four strikeouts in three innings.
Triston McKenzie started the game with four scoreless innings, and Morgan was effective in tandem behind the starter. Morgan's lone mistake was a solo home run he allowed to Reds outfielder Jake Fraley in the fifth inning. Through five innings this season, the right-hander has given up just one run and two hits while striking out five. He's providing quality innings, which positions him well to be a spot starter if the Guardians have an opening in the rotation for any reason; however, Logan Allen and Sam Hentges could also be in contention for fill-in duties.

Guardians' Eli Morgan: Opening season in bullpen
Morgan will begin 2022 as a reliever, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
Morgan worked as a starter in 2021, posting a 5.34 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 81:22 K:BB across 89.1 innings in 18 starts. With the Guardians' rotation at full health to begin the season, he'll have to settle for multi-inning assignments out of the bullpen. He could vulture a win here or there as the starters get stretched out, but the 25-year-old right-hander will need to make some improvements from his rookie season to earn interest in fantasy.

Indians' Eli Morgan: Earns inefficient win
Morgan (5-7) allowed four runs on seven hits over 5.2 innings Friday, striking out two and earning a win over the Rangers.
Morgan gave up two runs in the second inning before allowing solo home runs to Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Nathaniel Lowe in the third and sixth frames. He gave up multiple home runs for the third time in his last six outings and will finish the 2021 season with a 5.34 ERA through 89.1 innings.

Indians' Eli Morgan: Delivers another strong start
Morgan (4-7) allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out six over six shutout innings to earn the win Saturday versus the White Sox.
The right-hander has submitted consecutive quality starts for the second time this season. Morgan has settled down to a 3.96 ERA since the start of August, although a rough start to his big-league career still has his season ERA at 5.27. He's added a 1.25 WHIP and 79:22 K:BB across 83.2 innings overall. Morgan's projected for one more turn through the rotation next weekend versus Texas, which could give him some streaming appeal for fantasy managers.
