Diamondbacks' Sean Poppen: Called up Wednesday
Poppen was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Wednesday. Poppen made 26 relief appearances for the Diamondbacks earlier in the season and posted a 3.91 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 25.1 innings. He's been in the minors since July 10 but will rejoin Arizona's bullpen after Luis Frias was sent down Wednesday. Shildt spent the past two seasons as a senior advisor with the club, after parts of four seasons at the helm of the Cardinals in which he reached the playoffs three times and won Manager of the Year in 2019.
