  • Caleb Baragar: Released by Cleveland

Baragar (forearm) was released by the Guardians on Friday.

Bargar has been on the minor-league injured list since late June due to a forearm issue and had struggled to a 6.54 ERA in 31.2 innings with Triple-A Columbus when healthy. The 29-year-old left-hander will look to latch on with a new organization.

  • Guardians' Caleb Baragar: Misses Opening Day roster

Baragar was reassigned to minor-league camp Sunday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

The left-hander signed with Cleveland as a non-roster invitee in December and gave up three earned runs over 4.1 innings during spring training. Baragar had a 2.78 ERA across 49 outings for the Giants between the 2020 and 2021 campaigns, but he had a 35:17 K:BB and didn't see the majors last season.

  • Guardians' Caleb Baragar: Receives NRI from Cleveland

Baragar signed a minor-league contract with the Guardians on Thursday.

He's also been given an invitation to spring training. Baragar posted a nice 2.78 ERA over 49 appearances with the Giants from 2020-21, although it came with a 35:17 K:BB ratio over 45.1 innings.

  • Diamondbacks' Caleb Baragar: Sticks in organization

Baragar was outrighted to Triple-A Reno on Sunday.

Baragar lost his spot on the 40-man roster April 6 after failing to make the big-league club out of spring training. He threw 23 innings with San Francisco in 2021 and posted a very capable 1.57 ERA and 1.35 WHIP, though he had a less impressive 16:12 K:BB.

  • Diamondbacks' Caleb Baragar: Booted off 40-man roster

The Diamondbacks designated Baragar for assignment Tuesday.

Baragar had already missed out on a spot in Arizona's Opening Day bullpen after he was optioned to Triple-A Reno last week, but now he'll hit the waiver wire for the second time in less than a month after being booted off the Diamondbacks' 40-man roster. If he goes unclaimed, Baragar will stick around in the organization and report back to Reno.

  • Diamondbacks' Caleb Baragar: Sent to Triple-A

Baragar was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Thursday.

Baragar was claimed off waivers from the Giants on Monday but won't get the chance to break camp with his new team. The lefty posted a 1.57 ERA in 23 innings last season, though that came with a poor 16:12 K:BB.

  • Diamondbacks' Caleb Baragar: Claimed by Arizona

Baragar was claimed off waivers by the Diamondbacks on Monday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com

Baragar picked up seven holds for the Giants in 2021 and posted a 1.57 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 23 innings across 25 relief appearances. The Diamondbacks have a strong group of late relievers in Mark Melancon, Ian Kennedy and J.B. Wendelken, but Baragar should compete for a late-inning role if he continues to perform well in 2022.

  • Giants' Caleb Baragar: Designated for assignment

Baragar was designated for assignment on Monday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Baragar exits the 40-man roster to clear a spot for new signing Carlos Rodon. Baragar posted a 1.57 ERA in 23 innings last season, but his 16.3 percent strikeout rate, 12.2 percent walk rate and 22.7 percent groundball rate were all significantly worse than league average.

  • Giants' Caleb Baragar: Optioned to Triple-A

Baragar was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday.

Baragar allowed three runs on five hits and a walk with two strikeouts over 4.2 innings in three appearances during this major-league stint. He also picked up a three-inning save versus the Cubs on Saturday. Baragar and John Brebbia were sent down to allow the Giants to activate Wilmer Flores (hamstring) and Austin Slater (concussion) from the injured list.

  • Giants' Caleb Baragar: Picks up second save

Baragar allowed one run on three hits and one walk with two strikeouts over three innings, picking up the save in Saturday's 15-4 win over the Cubs.

Baragar entered the game with the Giants leading 12-3 and got the last nine outs to record his second save of the season. Saturday also marked a career high in innings pitched for the southpaw. After a tough outing against the Rockies on Monday that saw Baragar give up two earned runs in two-thirds of an inning, this should give the 27-year-old some confidence.

  • Giants' Caleb Baragar: Rejoins major-league club

Baragar was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.

Baragar has a 0.49 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 14:11 K:BB over 18.1 big-league frames this season and has been at Triple-A since mid-July. The left-hander should fill a low-leverage role out of the bullpen for the Giants.

  • Giants' Caleb Baragar: Headed to Triple-A

Baragar was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday.

Baragar failed to make an appearance since being called up July 11. His demotion, along with Chadwich Tromp's, makes room for the return of Buster Posey (thumb) from the 10-day IL and Kevin Gausman from the Family Medical Emergency List.

  • Giants' Caleb Baragar: Returns to Giants

The Giants recalled Baragar from Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday.

The lefty posted a 0.49 ERA in 18.1 innings with the Giants before being optioned June 13. Baragar's numbers at Triple-A have been much less impressive, though, as he has a 9.45 ERA in 6.2 innings at that level. Tyler Beede, who pitched Saturday and wouldn't have been available for the final game before the break, was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

  • Giants' Caleb Baragar: Records save in return from IL

Baragar picked up the save in a 2-1 win over the Nationals in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, allowing an unearned run on one hit in one inning.

Baragar came on for the eighth inning -- as the seventh San Francisco pitcher -- to protect a 2-0 lead and immediately surrendered an RBI double to bring the winning run to the plate. Fortunately, he was able to induce a double play after hitting Victor Robles and forced Trea Turner to pop out for the final out of the game and his first career save. The lefty has impressed with only a single earned run allowed in 18.1 innings this year for a sterling 0.49 ERA, though a 3.61 FIP indicates a good portion of that has been luck.

  • Giants' Caleb Baragar: Heads to Triple-A

The Giants optioned Baragar to Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, Amy Gutierrez of the Giants' official site reports.

Though he was brought back from the injured list Friday and ended up picking up a save in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, Baragar ultimately won't stick around in the San Francisco bullpen. The 27-year-old lefty maintains a tidy 0.49 ERA in 22 appearances this season, but his other ratios (1.36 WHIP, 6.9 K/9, 5.4 BB/9) paint a less rosy picture of his performance.

  • Giants' Caleb Baragar: Returns from injured list

Baragar (elbow) was activated off the 10-day injured list Friday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Baragar will wind up missing only slightly more than the minimum with elbow inflammation. He recorded a stellar 0.52 ERA in 17.1 innings prior to the injury, but his 14:11 K:BB and 19.1 percent groundball rate don't come close to backing that number up. Thairo Estrada was optioned in a corresponding move.

  • Giants' Caleb Baragar: Starts rehab assignment

Baragar (elbow) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The 27-year-old resumed throwing over the weekend and is nearing his return from the injured list. Baragar landed on the shelf with left elbow inflammation in late May, so he shouldn't require more than a couple appearances in the minors before being cleared to rejoin the Giants.

  • Giants' Caleb Baragar: Resumes throwing Friday

Baragar (elbow) threw long toss prior to Friday's game against the Cubs, Mark W. Sanchez of KNBR 680 San Francisco reports.

Baragar landed on the 10-day injured list on May 30 with elbow inflammation. The fact that he's already able to throw long toss figures to be a positive development as far as a return timeline is concerned. No official timetable for a return to the Giants' bullpen has been established at this point, but the left-hander being activated when eligible June 8 doesn't seem to be out of the question. Baragar has posted a stellar 0.52 ERA to go along with a 14:11 K:BB across 17.1 innings this season.

  • Giants' Caleb Baragar: Out with elbow inflammation

Baragar was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with left elbow inflammation. The move is retroactive to May 29.

The 27-year-old apparently suffered the injury when he last pitched Friday and delivered 1.1 scoreless frames. Baragar has a 0.52 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 14:11 K:BB over 17.1 innings for the Giants this season, and it's unclear how long he's expected to be sidelined.

  • Giants' Caleb Baragar: Back on track with hold

Baragar walked one batter in one inning to earn a hold in Sunday's 4-1 win over Pittsburgh.

Baragar bounced back well after taking the loss in a sloppy outing during Friday's loss. The southpaw has been fairly reliable with a 0.71 ERA and six holds across 12.2 innings. He has just a 10:8 K:BB and a 1.42 WHIP, so he has enjoyed some good luck in his strong start to the season.
