Reds' Daniel Duarte: Returns to Reds on minors deal
Duarte agreed to a minor-league contract with the Reds on Friday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
The Reds non-tendered Duarte earlier in the day, but evidently there were no hard feelings. It wasn't immediately clear whether the deal includes an invitation to spring training, but it seems likely that Duarte will be with the big-league squad, at least to start camp.

Reds' Daniel Duarte: Reinstated, sent to Triple-A
Duarte (elbow) was activated from the 60-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Sunday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
The 25-year-old has been sidelined by the elbow injury since mid-April, but he recently completed an eight-game rehab assignment with Louisville and will remain there now that he's been fully cleared. Duarte received his first taste of the majors in April prior to the injury, and he allowed three earned runs over 2.2 frames in three outings.

Duarte (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Louisville on Thursday.
Duarte has been sidelined with an elbow issue since mid-April, but he now appears to be trending toward a return. The right-hander will presumably require multiple rehab appearances, but it's possible that he'll be available out of the Reds' bullpen late in the regular season.

Duarte presumably experienced swelling in his elbow after he was checked out by doctors following his one-inning appearance in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Dodgers. The Reds replaced Duarte on the 28-man active roster with infielder Alejo Lopez, who was recalled from Triple-A Louisville.

Reds' Daniel Duarte: Nabs roster spot
Manager David Bell said Monday that Duarte has made the Reds' Opening Day roster, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
The 25-year-old righty will be one of 11 relievers joining the Reds for Opening Day. Duarte will be getting his first taste of the big leagues in 2022, after the Reds elected to add him to the 40-man roster over the winter following a successful 2021 campaign spent between four levels of the minors. Over his 19 appearances spanning 23.2 innings last season, Duarte submitted a 4.56 ERA and 1.39 WHIP while striking out 32 and securing eight saves.
