Royals' Dairon Blanco: Clears waivers
Blanco cleared waivers Tuesday and was outrighted to Triple-A Omaha.
Blanco got to make his major-league debut last month at the age of 29, but he was used infrequently in his two weeks with the team. He went 2-for-7 at the plate across five games before being designated for assignment Friday. While he could return the next time the Royals need another outfielder, the fact that he's no longer on the 40-man roster may prevent Blanco from being the top choice.

Royals' Dairon Blanco: Designated for assignment
Blanco was designated for assignment Friday.
The move clears a spot for Michael Taylor, who was activated from the injured list. Blanco primarily came off the bench while up with the big club, going 2-for-7 with four strikeouts and one steal in five games.

Royals' Dairon Blanco: Steals base as pinch runner
Blanco recorded his first major-league stolen base in Saturday's 7-3 win over the Twins.
Blanco ran for Salvador Perez in the ninth inning and stole second base with two outs. In his five games at the major-league level, Blanco has made only two starts while Michael Taylor and Kyle Isbel are on the COVID-19 injured list. As such, Blanco's playing time is likely to be limited even while the Royals' outfield is a bit shorthanded -- he'll likely be limited to a bench role as he was Saturday.

Royals' Dairon Blanco: Contract selected by Royals
Blanco's contract was selected by the Royals on Thursday.
Blanco has appeared in 69 games at Triple-A Omaha since the second half of 2021, and he's hit .257 with 10 homers, 40 runs, 31 RBI and 22 stolen bases. The 29-year-old hasn't yet made his major-league debut but will provide outfield depth for the Royals after Michael Taylor (illness) was placed on the COVID-19 injured list.
