Amanda Nunes is considered by many as the greatest female fighter in mixed martial arts history. Irene Aldana is riding the wave of a dominant year for Mexican fighters. Nunes and Aldana collide in Vancouver on Saturday to close out UFC 289 with the UFC women's bantamweight championship at stake.

UFC returns to Vancouver and the entire nation of Canada for the first time since September 2019. Nunes makes the first defense of her second reign as women's bantamweight champion after retrieving the title from Julianna Pena. Aldana looks to replicate the success her teammate Alexa Grasso had against Valentina Shevchenko as she looks to dethrone another champion on the Mount Rushmore of women's MMA.

UFC 289 is generally light on star power as it leans on a tremendous co-main event. Former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira meets streaking contender Beneil Dariush in a fight expected to determine the next challenger for reigning lightweight champ Islam Makhachev. Oliveira's loss to Makhachev snapped a memorable 11-fight winning streak. Meanwhile, Dariush is in rare form with eight straight wins.

The rest of the undercard fills out with a welterweight showdown between rising prospects when Mike Malott takes on Adam Fugitt. Plus, veteran showmen Dan Ige and Nate Landwehr are set to scrap it out at featherweight. And another set of veterans open the PPV portion of the card when Marc-Andre Barriault takes on Eryk Anders at middleweight.
