Celtics' Al Horford: Not listed on injury report
Horford (back) isn't listed on the Celtics' injury report ahead of Thursday's matchup against the Knicks, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.
Horford will be back in action Thursday after taking a seat during Tuesday's loss to Miami due to low back stiffness. The veteran big man's absence during the second half of back-to-backs has been standard procedure for Boston this season, so there shouldn't be any concern about a lingering injury. Across 11 January appearances, Horford is averaging 9.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 30.1 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less
Celtics' Al Horford: Won't play Tuesday
Horford has been ruled out for Tuesday's contest against the Heat due to low back stiffness, Jared Weiss of The Athletic reports.
Horford will take the night off after playing 30 minutes during the first half of the Celtics' current back-to-back set Monday. Marcus Smart (ankle), Malcolm Brogdon (personal) and Jaylen Brown (adductor) are also out, so it's unclear what Boston's starting lineup will look like, though Luke Kornet, Blake Griffin and Grant Williams will presumably be the primary beneficiaries of Horford's absence.... Celtics' Al Horford: Grabs fourth double-double
Horford chipped in 20 points (8-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds and three blocks over 37 minutes during Thursday's 121-118 overtime win over the Warriors.
Horford had a great first half with 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field to go along with seven boards and a block on a dunk attempt from Jordan Poole. He chipped in another 10 points between the second half and overtime to reach the 20-point mark for just the second time this season as the Celtics hung on to win their seventh straight. Horford also collected double-digit rebounds in the contest for only the second time this month en route to his fourth double-double in his 2022-23 campaign.... See More ... See Less
Celtics' Al Horford: Solid game in return
Horford finished with 16 points (6-10 FG, 4-7 3Pt), seven rebounds, six assists and two steals across 33 minutes during Saturday's 122-106 win over the Hornets.
After sitting out for rest in Thursday's win over the Nets, Horford returned to action with a solid all-around performance. He had been struggling mightily of late, but his last two appearances have seen him score in double digits and become a deadly threat from beyond the arc. Boston doesn't have another back-to-back for over a week, so Horford may stay on the floor and can be considered a decent streaming option in 12-team category leagues for the next few games.... Horford recorded 14 points (5-8 FG, 4-6 3Pt), three rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal over 31 minutes during Wednesday's 125-114 win over New Orleans.
Horford did the majority of his scoring from beyond the arc in this one, as he knocked down four of six attempts from three. Horford is averaging 7.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists through six January appearances.... See More ... See Less

Celtics' Al Horford: Contributes across board in win
Horford finished with eight points (3-6 FG, 2-5 3Pt), seven rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block across 33 minutes in Monday's 107-99 win over the Bulls.
Though he failed to crack double digits in scoring for the seventh game in a row, Horford's diverse stat line illustrates why he's still a useful back-end roster option in category leagues. The fact that Horford was able to achieve this level of production alongside Robert Williams -- who made his first start of the season while Marcus Smart (knee) was sidelined -- offers hope that Horford may be able to maintain some utility if the Celtics elect to make Williams a permanent fixture on the top unit. In order to facilitate a Horford-Williams starting frontcourt pairing, the Celtics would have to move Derrick White to the bench when Smart returns.... See More ... See Less

Since returning from a week-long absence, the veteran big man has averaged 8.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.3 blocks in 28.0 minutes over his past six games. Horford is a key part of Boston's rotation, but the powerful Celtics don't need to rely on his production, which limits his overall fantasy value.... See More ... See Less
