  • Suns' Jae Crowder: Staying prepared for trade

Crowder, who has been away from the Suns all season while the team explores avenues to trade him, has been working out daily in Atlanta in order to stay ready for his next opportunity to play, Chris Haynes of reports.

Since the Suns were committed to moving fourth-year Cameron Johnson into a starting role ahead of the season, Crowder was primed to lose playing time and thus came to a mutual agreement with Phoenix to pursue trade options. Johnson was off to a strong start to the season before suffering a meniscus injury Nov. 4 that required surgery, but the Suns and Crowder haven't explored the idea of reintegrating him even though the team has been further decimated by injuries with all of Deandre Ayton, Chris Paul (hip), Landry Shamet (hip), Cameron Payne and Devin Booker (groin) having missed time of late. Until Crowder is likely moved ahead of the Feb. 9 trade deadline, he'll continue to work out on his own in preparation for his next destination.

  • Suns' Jae Crowder: Inactive for Opening Night

Crowder (not injury related) is on the Suns' inactive list for Wednesday's game against the Mavericks, Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic reports.

Crowder failed to take part in training camp, so this announcement comes as no shock to those who have observed the 32-year-old and his desire to leave Phoenix. It remains to be seen whether Crowder will sit out until he's traded, but this seems to be the case for now.

  • Suns' Jae Crowder: Won't participate in training camp

Crowder won't participate in training camp as the forward and the Suns work on a trade, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Crowder has hinted on social media during the offseason that he wanted out of Phoenix, and the 32-year-old and the Suns reached a mutual agreement to seek a trade while the forward sits out during camp. Crowder served exclusively as a starter for the Suns last year and averaged 9.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 28.1 minutes per game across 67 appearances. He's a somewhat inconsistent fantasy option, but he'd provide a solid veteran presence in the frontcourt for another team in the final year of a three-year deal if he's ultimately dealt. If Crowder is traded, Cameron Johnson will likely handle an increased role to begin the 2022-23 campaign.

Despite leaving the contest for a moment due to an apparent ankle injury, Crowder scored in double figures for a fourth consecutive contest. The veteran forward has averaged 15.0 points and 7.0 rebounds over the first four games of the series and will look to maintain his solid production during Game 5 on Tuesday.

  • Suns' Jae Crowder: Returns to Sunday's contest

Crowder (ankle) has returned to Sunday's Game 4 against the Mavericks, Gerald Bourguet of reports.

However, the veteran forward was able to return to the contest just before the end of the period. Crowder has averaged 15.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists through the first three games of the series, so his availability is a huge plus for Phoenix.
