Suns' Keita Bates-Diop: Scores in double figures
Bates-Diop supplied 13 points (5-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-4 FT) and two rebounds in 18 minutes during Thursday's 132-121 loss to San Antonio.
The Suns fell behind early in Thursday's matchup, and although they mounted a comeback bid in the second half, Bates-Diop saw extended run for the first time this season after appearing in just one of the team's first four games of the year. The 27-year-old was efficient with his double-digit minutes, tying for the highest scoring total among the team's bench players. While he showed what he can do with ample playing time Thursday, it seems unlikely that he'll be part of the team's rotation regularly.

Suns' Keita Bates-Diop: Not part of rotation
Bates-Diop didn't play in Thursday's 100-95 loss to the Lakers.
Even with Bradley Beal (back) and Devin Booker (foot) sidelined, Bates-Diop didn't see any playing time. Instead, Jordan Goodwin, Drew Eubanks, Yuta Watanabe and Nassir Little led the Suns' bench unit. In 2022-23, Bates-Diop had a career year with the Spurs, starting 42 of 67 appearances while averaging 9.7 points (39.4 percent from beyond the arc) and 3.7 rebounds in 21.7 minutes. It was believed he'd be able to parlay his solid production into a meaningful role for a Suns squad that lacks depth, but that hasn't been the case thus far. Bates-Diop doesn't need to be rostered in standard leagues.

Suns' Keita Bates-Diop: Quality production off bench
Bates-Diop recorded nine points (4-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt), five rebounds, two assists and one block in 23 minutes during Tuesday's 115-107 preseason loss to the Nuggets.
Bates-Diop has garnered a sizable bench role in each of the Suns' first two preseason games. He figures to see a similar role during the regular season, as it appears both Grayson Allen and Josh Okogie are currently ahead of Bates-Diop in the running for the final starting spot alongside Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, Kevin Durant and Jusuf Nurkic.
