Labissiere offered eight points (4-9 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 0-1 FT), five rebounds, one assist and one steal across 22 minutes during the Capitanes' 117-115 loss to Stockton on Wednesday. The big man came off the bench and put together a solid line relative to playing time. Labissiere has gotten some good late-season work in with Mexico City, as he was averaging 8.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 2.0 blocks across 24 minutes over eight games heading into Friday's regular-season finale.... Skal Labissiere: Season-best performance Thursday
Labissiere delivered 23 points (10-16 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and one block across 36 minutes in the Capitanes' 118-107 loss Greensboro on Thursday. The big man continues to impress the more he plays, as he followed up Wednesday's solid eight-point, 11-rebound effort with a season-high scoring tally. Labissiere's 148 games of NBA experience are unsurprisingly beginning to serve him well at the G League level, and with Kenneth Faried currently sitting out some games due to his two-way deal, the 26-year-old big is taking full advantage.... Skal Labissiere: Solid as starter in win
Labissiere furnished eight points (3-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 11 rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block across 37 minutes in the Capitanes' 122-116 win over Greensboro on Wednesday. Labissiere entered the first unit for the first time in Mexico City and and acquitted himself very well on the glass, pacing the team in rebounds on the night. Given his prior NBA experience, Labissiere could continue to develop as a dominant frontcourt force as the remainder of the G League season unfolds.... See More ... See Less -
Skal Labissiere: Five points off bench Monday
Labissiere registered five points (2-9 FG, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, one assist, two steals and two blocks across 21 minutes in the Capitanes' 109-90 loss to Capital City on Monday. The big man was playing in his second game with the Capitanes after signing with the team March 3. Labissiere showed some upside at the NBA level late last decade with the Kings and Trail Blazers and is still just 26 years old, so he could potentially see his role expand in coming games.... Skal Labissiere: Sits out Saturday
Labissiere didn't take the floor in Saturday's 127-115 loss to G League Raptors 905. Labissiere has played just six games this year, as he's often left out of the rotation. The 24-year-old has connected on just 37.5 percent of his field goals, leading to 5.2 points per game.... See More ... See Less -
Skal Labissiere: Waived by Knicks
Labissiere was waived by the Knicks on Friday. Labissiere was signed by New York earlier this week, but he won't suit up for the NBA roster. The 24-year-old will likely be re-routed to the team's G League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks.... See More ... See Less -
Skal Labissiere: Inks G League deal
Labissiere agreed Monday with the Knicks on an Exhibit 10 contract, Mark Stein of The New York Times reports. The 2016 first-round pick appeared in 33 games for Portland last season and averaged 5.8 points and 1.3 rebounds in 17.2 minutes. He'll join the Knicks for training camp but will likely be cut and re-routed to the team's G League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks.... See More ... See Less -
Hawks' Skal Labissiere: Nearing return
Labissiere (knee) had been cleared to return to modified team practice before the NBA suspended its season March 11, Sarah K. Spencer of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. As Spencer notes, Labissiere's return to practice likely marks the final hurdle he needed to clear in his recovery from a left knee chondral injury, which had prevented him from playing since late December, when he was still a member of the Trail Blazers. With the NBA season unlikely to be resumed until at least May, Labissiere should be at or near full health once the Hawks are cleared to resume training. Even though he should be available for whatever games the Hawks have left, Labissiere is unlikely to hold a meaningful role in coach Lloyd Pierce's rotation.... See More ... See Less -
Hawks' Skal Labissiere: Cleared for impact work
Labissiere (knee) has been cleared to participate in impact activities and will be re-evaluated in two weeks, Sarah K. Spencer of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Labissiere is making good progress, but it will still be at least two weeks before he potentially steps on the court again. Look for more updates as he continues to hit various other milestones in his recovery.... See More ... See Less -
Hawks' Skal Labissiere: Progresses to non-contact work
Labissiere (knee) was spotted participating in non-contact drills during Monday's shootaround, Sarah K. Spencer of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. While Labissiere likely remains multiple weeks away from making a return to game action, the non-contact work he did Monday was an important point in his rehabilitation. Look for further updates on Labissiere's status to come as he continues to hit checkpoints in practice.... See More ... See Less -
Hawks' Skal Labissiere: Out for 'weeks'
Labissiere (knee) will remain out for "weeks," Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. A sprained left knee has kept Labissiere out since Dec. 30, and he's not expected to return in the near future. More information on a timetable may emerge when he hits various milestones in his recovery.... See More ... See Less -
Hawks' Skal Labissiere: Shut down through break
Labissiere (knee), who has been ruled out in advance of Sunday's game against the Knicks, won't travel with the Hawks during the team's two-game road trip this week, Ben Ladner of SI.com reports. Atlanta will wrap up its pre-All-Star break schedule with games Monday in Orlando and Wednesday in Cleveland, but neither Labissiere nor fellow newly acquired center Clint Capela (heel) will accompany the team as both continue their respective rehab processes. In Labissiere's case, he's been sidelined since late December with a left knee chondral injury and likely won't have a clear target date for his return to game action until he's able to take part in full-contact, full-court practices. The 23-year-old isn't likely to hold a prominent role in the Atlanta rotation once he's eventually healthy.... See More ... See Less -
Hawks' Skal Labissiere: Won't play Sunday
Labissiere (knee) remains out Sunday against the Knicks, Kevin Chouinard of the Hawks' official site reports. Labissiere continues to miss time due to a sprained knee. He's been out since Dec. 30 and it's unclear when he may return.... See More ... See Less -
Hawks' Skal Labissiere: Traded to Hawks
The Trail Blazers dealt Labissiere (knee) to the Hawks on Thursday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Portland will also send $2 million to the Hawks in the deal, but it's unclear what or who Atlanta might be sending back in return, if anything. Atlanta has been stockpiling bigs of late, as Labissiere joins recent acquisitions Clint Capela (heel) and Dewayne Dedmon in a frontcourt that already features John Collins and Bruno Fernando (calf). Labissiere hasn't played since the end of December due to a knee injury, but he was scheduled to be re-evaluated this week following a month-long shutdown, so another update on his health should arrive soon. When healthy, Labissiere has posted averages of 5.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 17.1 minutes per game over his 33 appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Skal Labissiere: Out another four weeks
Labissiere was diagnosed with a left knee articular cartilage lesion and will be reevaluated in four weeks. Labissiere suffered the injury at the end of December; while a first MRI came back inconclusive, a second scan confirmed the issue will keep the big man sidelined into February. In his absence, Anthony Tolliver, Carmelo Anthony, Hassan Whiteside and Nassir Little will help fill the void in Portland's frontcourt.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Skal Labissiere: Out for road trip
Labissiere (knee) will remain out for the Blazers' upcoming five-game road trip, Jamie Goldberg of The Oregonian reports. Labissiere underwent an MRI on his left knee, but the results were deemed inconclusive. He's set for another evaluation next week, at which point we should get a clearer timetable. For now, though, expect Anthony Tolliver, Carmelo Anthony, Hassan Whiteside and Nassir Little to help fill the void in the frontcourt.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Skal Labissiere: Ruled out for remainder of contest
Labissiere (knee) has been ruled out for the remainder of Saturday's contest against the Lakers. Less than five minutes into his first start of the season, Labissiere was headed to the locker room with a left knee injury. Look for Kent Bazemore to see an uptick in minutes as a result. More specifics on Labissiere's injury will come ahead of Monday's showdown with the Suns.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Skal Labissiere: Headed to locker room
Labissiere is headed to the locker room Saturday, Joe Freeman of The Oregonian reports. Labissiere was reaching for his left knee/leg as he made his way to the locker room. The 23-year-old was making his first start of the season but now Kent Bazemore, part of the conventional starting rotation, will return to the lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Skal Labissiere: Joins starting five
Labissiere is starting Saturday against the Lakers, Jamie Goldberg of The Oregonian reports. With Kent Bazemore coming off the bench Saturday, Labissiere will get his first start of the season. When seeing at least 20 minutes this season, Labissiere is averaging 9.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.5 blocks.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Skal Labissiere: Snatches only one board
Labissiere produced six points (3-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt), a rebound and a block in a 136-113 defeat to the Lakers on Friday night. The 23-year-old took advantage of every opportunity shooting from inside the arc but had trouble obtaining rebounds, the category that mainly defines his value in deeper leagues. Labissiere is still grabbing five boards a night (in 16.6 minutes averaged) but will only have stable worth by preventing nights like these.... See More ... See Less
