  • Yogi Ferrell: Waived by Clippers

Ferrell was waived by the Clippers on Sunday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Ferrell joined the Clippers in mid-April after he spent time with Cleveland earlier in the 2020-21 campaign. The 28-year-old averaged 5.6 points and 2.2 assists in 13.6 minutes per game across 10 appearances last year.

  • Clippers' Yogi Ferrell: Signs for rest of season

Ferrell will sign a contract with the Clippers for the remainder of the season, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Ferrell has played three games with the Clippers while on a 10-day deal. In 29 minutes, he's totaled 14 points, 10 assists, one rebound and one steal. Ferrell will likely only see consistent minutes if the Clippers' backcourt suffers injuries.

  • Clippers' Yogi Ferrell: Plays well in Clippers debut

Ferrell posted eight points (2-6 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-3 FT), seven assists and one steal in 20 minutes during Wednesday's 117-105 win over the Grizzlies. Ferrell signed a 10-day contract with the Clippers on Monday, and he was given plenty of run in his debut Wednesday with Rajon Rondo (wrist) sidelined. If Rondo sits out again Friday, Ferrell could remain in the rotation.

  • Clippers' Yogi Ferrell: Officially joins Clippers

Ferrell signed a 10-day contract with the Clippers on Monday, Law Murray of The Athletic reports. The deal was originally reported over a week ago, but it wasn't until Monday that the contract was officially completed. Ferrell provides depth at the point behind Reggie Jackson and Rajon Rondo while Patrick Beverley (hand) recovers from surgery.

  • Yogi Ferrell: Should finalize 10-day deal soon

Ferrell is expected to finalize a 10-day contract with the Clippers this week, Law Murray of The Athletic reports. Reports surfaced more than a week ago indicating Ferrell would join the Clippers, but there was apparently a hangup in adding him to the 15-man roster. Ferrell looks like he'll get the opportunity to join LA after all, as the team plans to open up a spot for him by not renewing forward Malik Fitts' 10-day contract. Pending his clearance of the NBA's health and safety protocols, Ferrell could be ready to make his team debut as soon as Tuesday against the Trail Blazers.

  • Clippers' Yogi Ferrell: To join Clippers on 10-day deal

Ferrell plans to sign a 10-day contract with the Clippers this week once he clears health and safety protocols, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Ferrell will join his second team of the season after he also received one 10-day contract with the Cavaliers earlier in the year. Ferrell could see some backup minutes once he officially joins the team, as Patrick Beverley (hand) is sidelined and Rajon Rondo (hip) is also banged up.

  • Yogi Ferrell: Waived by Cleveland

Ferrell was waived by the Cavaliers on Wednesday, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Cleveland acquired Taurean Prince and Jarrett Allen in the blockbuster trade that sent James Harden to Brooklyn, so Thon Maker and Ferrell were waived to create roster space. After signing a 10-day contract with the Cavs on Monday, Ferrell averaged 9.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals in 20.0 minutes across his two appearances.

  • Cavaliers' Yogi Ferrell: Leads second unit in loss

Ferrell scored 10 points (4-12 FG, 2-5 3Pt) while adding four rebounds, four assists and a steal in 24 minutes off the bench during Tuesday's 117-87 loss to the Jazz. In only his second game with the Cavs, the 27-year-old journeyman led the team's bench brigade in minutes, scoring, assists and boards, which perhaps says more about the state of Cleveland's roster at the moment than it does Ferrell's skills. Until the likes of Collin Sexton (ankle) and Darius Garland (shoulder) are back in action, however, Ferrell could continue to play a significant role in the backcourt rotation.

  • Cavaliers' Yogi Ferrell: Gets chance with Cleveland

Ferrell agreed Monday with the Cavaliers on a 10-day contract, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. With six Cavaliers players tending to injuries and Kevin Porter (personal) on indefinite leave, the NBA approved the team's request for a short-term roster exception, which was used on Ferrell. The 27-year-old will provide the Cavaliers with some much-needed depth at point guard, as Damyean Dotson has been forced to play out of position over the last few games while all of Darius Garland (shoulder), Collin Sexton (ankle), Dante Exum (calf) and Matthew Dellavedova (concussion) have missed time. All of those four players but Sexton have been ruled out for Monday's game against the Grizzlies, so Ferrell should get the opportunity to fill a spot in J.B. Bickerstaff's rotation right away. Fedor notes that Ferrell has already cleared all COVID-19-related intake testing and will be available to make his team debut Monday.

  • Jazz's Yogi Ferrell: Inks deal with Jazz

Ferrell signed a contract with the Jazz on Saturday. The terms of Ferrell's deal haven't been disclosed, but he should have to settle for a depth role or a spot in the G League during the 2020-21 season. The 27-year-old appeared in 50 games for the Kings last year, averaging 4.4 points and 1.4 assists over 10.6 minutes per contest.

  • Kings' Yogi Ferrell: Scores eight in four minutes

Ferrell chipped in eight points (2-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-3 FT) and one assist in four minutes during Sunday's 129-112 loss to the Rockets. Ferrell made the most of his playing time, but there's only so much that can be accomplished in such limited minutes. Ferrell could be in line for a few more minutes going forward given that the team has been eliminated from playoff contention. Still, Ferrell will likely continue to have limited appeal for fantasy purposes.

  • Kings' Yogi Ferrell: Rejoins rotation

Ferrell failed to score (0-4 FG, 0-2 3Pt) and contributed two rebounds and two assists in 14 minutes off the bench in Thursday's 112-108 loss to the Thunder. Ferrell appeared for the first time in the Kings' four games since the All-Star break, entering the rotation while De'Aaron Fox (abdomen) was idle. Fox is reportedly optimistic about his chances of playing in the second half of the back-to-back set Friday in Memphis, so Ferrell could quickly find himself back on the outside of coach Luke Walton's rotation. Cory Joseph is viewed as the clear top backup to Fox when the Kings are at full strength in the backcourt.

  • Kings' Yogi Ferrell: Contributes nine points in loss

Ferrell scored nine points (3-5 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 0-0 FT) and added an assist in 15 minutes during Wednesday's 127-123 loss to Dallas. Ferrell hadn't seen the floor that much since he saw 22 minutes against Pheonix on Dec. 28. It had been even longer since he last scored at least nine points, last reaching that number Dec. 6. The 26-year-old continues to play from the end of the Sacramento bench.

  • Kings' Yogi Ferrell: Bumped from rotation

Ferrell (coach's decision) didn't see the floor Tuesday in the Kings' 110-102 loss to the Hornets. Ferrell was bounced from coach Luke Walton's rotation as a result of De'Aaron Fox's (ankle) return from a 17-game absence. Even while Fox was sidelined, Ferrell hadn't made himself relevant outside of the deepest of fantasy leagues, averaging just 6.5 points, 2.1 assists and 1.6 rebounds in 16.1 minutes over that stretch.

  • Kings' Yogi Ferrell: Scores season-high 17 points

Ferrell put up 17 points (6-11 FG, 0-1 3PT, 5-5 FT), three assists and one steal in 23 minutes off the bench during Friday's 105-104 overtime loss at the Spurs. Ferrell was a consistent scoring threat from the bench, as he ended with his best scoring output of the season and Sacramento's fourth-highest in the game. He is getting more minutes due to De'Aaron Fox's injury and, considering the star point guard doesn't have a clear return date, Ferrell should continue seeing healthy minutes off the bench at least on the short term.

  • Kings' Yogi Ferrell: Scores 13 points off bench

Ferrell posted 13 points (5-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three assists, one rebound and one steal in Wednesday's 127-116 loss to the Trail Blazers. In the 11 games since De'Aaron Fox (ankle) has been out, Ferrell has served as the Kings' backup point guard, averaging 16.7 minutes per game. Nominal starting point guard, Cory Joseph, hasn't been a major threat offensively, averaging just 4.9 points in 31.5 minutes per game compared to Ferrell's 6.6 points per game, but Joseph has been a far more effective facilitator which likely limits any possibility of the fourth-year guard earning an expanded role.

  • Kings' Yogi Ferrell: Steps up in relief

Ferrell generated 14 points (6-12 FG, 2-6 3Pt), three assists and a rebound across 29 minutes in Friday's 99-97 loss to the Lakers. While Cory Joseph got the first shot at filling in for the injured De'Aaron Fox (ankle), Ferrell is going to see plenty of opportunities to contribute as well. Joseph couldn't get anything going Friday, so Ferrell took over and achieved a +9 plus-minus for his time on the court. It'll be a toss-up in the short term as to who will be the better option on any given night, so both guards are risky propositions from a fantasy perspective.

  • Kings' Yogi Ferrell: Cracks rotation in Fox's absence

Ferrell tallied nine points (3-4 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and three assists in 16 minutes off the bench Tuesday in the Kings' 107-99 win over the Trail Blazers. With De'Aaron Fox suffering a significant left ankle sprain during practice Monday, Ferrell stepped into the rotation as the backup point guard, while Cory Joseph ascended to the top unit. The move into the rotation allowed Ferrell to set season highs across the board, but neither he nor Joseph are likely to emerge as significant fantasy assets while Fox is out. Instead, it was Bogdan Bogdanovic (25 points, 10 assists in 32 minutes) who seemed to benefit the most from enhanced play-making opportunities in the Kings' first game minus Fox.

  • Kings' Yogi Ferrell: Averaging five minutes a game

Ferrell has logged a total of 25 minutes through five of Sacramento's first eight games. As expected, offseason acquisition Cory Joseph has assumed the role of backup point guard to De'Aaron Fox, forcing Ferrell to act as a reserve option off the bench. Unless one of the starting or backup guards suffers an injury, the fourth-year veteran will likely continue to wait his turn.

  • Kings' Yogi Ferrell: Impresses during pre-season finale

Ferrell posted 24 points (7-11 FG, 5-6 3PT, 5-5 FT), six assists, three rebounds, two steals and one block across 38 minutes during Sacramento's 124-110 exhibition win over Melbourne United on Wednesday. Ferrell got the keys of Sacramento's offense in this game due to the absences of both De'Aaron Fox (back) and Cory Joseph (calf), and he didn't disappoint. That said, Fox should be ready for the regular season opener, which limits Ferrell's upside to a backup-role only.
