Huff agreed to a two-way deal with the Nuggets on Sunday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Huff has made only 11 NBA appearances between stops with the Lakers and Wizards over the last two seasons. However, the seven-footer turned in impressive per-minute averages during his brief stint with Washington late in the 2022-23 campaign and could get the chance to carve out more of a foothold at the NBA level in 2023-24 as he joins a Nuggets squad lacking in much dependable depth behind starter Nikola Jokic. If Huff can't surpass the likes of Zeke Nnaji and DeAndre Jordan on the depth chart, he could end up seeing most of his action with the Nuggets' G League affiliate early on in the campaign.... Wizards' Jay Huff: Out Sunday
Huff will not be available for Sunday's regular-season finale as he's run out of days on his two-way contract, Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington reports. Daniel Gafford (ankle) will also be unavailable for Sunday's game, leaving the Wizards very thin up front. Xavier Cooks could be forced into major minutes, and with four steals over the past two games, he could be someone to think about streaming if you need some help in that category.... See More ... Wizards' Jay Huff: Excels again in backup role
Huff posted 14 points (5-6 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, three assists, three blocks and one steal across 30 minutes in Wednesday's 134-116 loss to the Hawks. Huff has supplanted Taj Gibson for the backup center role in both of the Wizards' past two games and based on how he's performed, the 24-year-old Virginia production looks poised to remain Daniel Gafford's top understudy for the final two contests of the season. He followed up a 17-point, nine-rebound performance in Tuesday's 140-128 loss to the Timberwolves with another solid line in the second leg of the back-to-back set, and Huff actually outpaced Gafford (23 minutes) in terms of playing time.... Wizards' Jay Huff: Scores career-best 17
Huff chipped in 17 points (5-10 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), nine rebounds, two assists and two steals over 27 minutes during Tuesday's 140-128 loss to the Bucks. Appearing in his fifth contest this season and the ninth of his career, Huff posted a career-best night. He was freshly crowned as the G League DPOY, and he's a viable two-way bench big for the Wizards, who continue to deal with numerous injuries to key players.... See More ... See Less -
Wizards' Jay Huff: Plays 24 minutes in season finale
Huff registered 12 points (5-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), eight rebounds, an assist and two blocks across 24 minutes in Saturday's win over Westchester. Huff posted a decent stat line but didn't log heavy minutes, as Capital City already locked up a playoff spot. The big man should be one of the Go-Go's most prominent offensive weapons in the postseason after he averaged 16.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game across nine outings with Capital City in the regular season. That was an uptick in numbers compared to the 14.3 points per game he averaged across 19 outings with the South Bay Lakers earlier in the campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Wizards' Jay Huff: Monster double-double Thursday
Huff recorded 31 points (11-16 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 16 rebounds, two assists, a steal and three blocks across 37 minutes in Thursday's win over the Herd. Huff led the Go-Go in points, rebounds and blocks in this game. He's been excellent for Capital City, averaging 16.9 points with 7.6 rebounds per game since joining Capital City at the beginning of this month.... See More ... See Less -
Wizards' Jay Huff: Scores 29 points in win
Huff posted 29 points (12-16 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-5 FT), nine rebounds, an assist, a block and a steal across 31 minutes in Tuesday's win over the Swarm. Huff was one of the leading scorers for Capital City in this one, and he continues to make an impact every time he has to suit up at the G League level. The big man out of Virginia has made just seven appearances with the Go-Go this season and is averaging 14.9 points and 6.4 rebounds across 23.0 minutes per tilt.... See More ... See Less -
Wizards' Jay Huff: Posts double-double in win
Huff notched 16 points (7-12 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 11 rebounds and four blocks across 31 minutes in Monday's win over Lakeland. Huff was active on both ends of the court and delivered one of his best performances of the season. He's made five appearances for the Go-Go and is averaging 12.2 points with 6.2 rebounds per contest.... See More ... See Less -
Wizards' Jay Huff: Inks two-way deal with Washington
The Wizards signed Huff to a two-way contract Wednesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Huff has been playing in the G League for the South Bay Lakers and is averaging 15.3 points and 7.8 rebounds in 27.7 minutes across 37 appearances. The Virginia product made his NBA debut last season for the Lakers but averaged just 5.0 minutes across four games and never scored a point. He initially signed with Washington has an undrafted free agent after the 2021 NBA Draft and will get another chance in the organization during the stretch run of the 2022-2023 regular season.... Jay Huff: Does not play Wednesday
Huff did not play in Wednesday's 120-112 win over the Vipers for an undisclosed reason. Despite having a full week of rest since South Bay's last game, Huff was unable to suit up for Wednesday's tilt. When active, Huff is one of the most threatening interior presences in the G League on both ends of the court.... See More ... See Less -
Jay Huff: Paces team in points
Huff recorded 24 points (11-17 FG, 1-2 3PT, 1-1 FT), 13 rebounds and five blocks across 33 minutes of Monday's 132-128 loss to Fort Wayne. Huff put together his best performance of the regular season, tallying a new best in points while corralling 13 rebounds and swatting five shots. Monday's contest marked the first time Huff played 30 or more minutes since Jan. 13.... See More ... See Less -
Jay Huff: Blockless Sunday
Huff tallied 10 points (4-6 FG, 1-1 FT) and nine rebounds across 20 minutes of Sunday's 123-122 loss to Ontario. Huff was limited to just 20 minutes in the contest after picking up his fifth foul in the third quarter. He was lackluster as a rim protector in this one, but he remains the G League leader in blocks per game on the year.... See More ... See Less -
Jay Huff: Solid across 28 minutes
Huff recorded 13 points (5-9 FG, 0-1 3PT, 2-2 FT), nine rebounds and two blocks in 28 minutes of Wednesday's 113-109 win over the Capitanes. Huff maintained a robust interior presence Wednesday, approaching a double-double while swatting two shots. In 13 regular season appearances, Huff has averaged 15.0 points, 7.8 rebounds and 4.2 blocks across 27.5 minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Jay Huff: Effective Friday
Huff tallied 18 points (8-11 FG, 0-2 3PT, 1-1 FT), 14 rebounds and three blocks in 30 minutes of Friday's 118-117 loss to the Hustle. Huff's 14 rebounds and three blocks were both game-high totals, while he shot a blistering 72.7 percent from the field. After being held to just 13 points and four rebounds in his previous contest, Friday's performance was a much-needed bounceback for the 25-year-old.... See More ... See Less -
Jay Huff: Suffers cold shooting night
Huff managed just four points (2-10 FG), nine rebounds and two blocks in 18 minutes in Wednesday's 115-113 win over College Park. Huff played his fewest minutes all season, in part due to his massive inefficiency on offense. The big man shot just 20 percent from the field without attempting a single three-pointer or free throw in the win. However, Huff was able to make an impact on the boards, nabbing five offensive rebounds in his limited action.... See More ... See Less -
Jay Huff: Single-pronged attack Tuesday
Huff posted 23 points (8-11 FG, 2-3 3PT, 3-3 FT) and two assists in 26 minutes of play in Tuesday's 115-113 win over the Ignite. Huff failed to record a single rebound for the first time this season and could not find an impact outside of the scoring column. Look for Huff to return to his averages of 18.8 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.7 blocks per game.... See More ... See Less -
Jay Huff: Strong despite foul trouble
Huff tallied 24 points (9-10 FG, 3-3 FT) six rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 25 minutes of Sunday's game against the Ignite. Huff was limited by foul trouble Sunday, fouling out in just 25 minutes of action. However, he was incredibly effective, tying for a team high in points on 90 percent shooting. Huff should continue to be a primary contributor for South Bay.... See More ... See Less -
Jay Huff: Drops 30 points in loss
Huff recorded 30 points (14-20 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-3 FT), six rebounds, four blocks and three assists in 34 minutes of Saturday's 112-105 loss to the G League Clippers. Huff dominated the interior Saturday with 30 points on 70 percent shooting while nabbing six rebounds. Huff has been a steady contributor for South Bay, averaging 19.3 points, 9.8 rebounds and 3.0 blocks in 31.4 minutes per game through four contests.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Jay Huff: Let go by Lakers
Huff was waived by the Lakers on Saturday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. Huff will likely rejoin the South Bay Lakers, where he averaged 15.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 1.1 assists in 25.9 minutes in 28 games. Huff started every game and will likely do so again this season.... See More ... See Less -
Jay Huff: Logs team-best 26 points
Huff logged 26 points (12-15 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT) and nine rebounds across 29 minutes during Tuesday's 113-112 loss to the Texas Legends. Huff took advantage of rare off nights from South Bay's primary scorers, Mac McClung and Mason Jones. The center has averaged 15.8 points across 25 G League games this year.... See More ... See Less
