Flynn isn't in the starting lineup for Wednesday's Play-In Game versus the Bulls, Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.ca reports. Flynn will be replaced by Fred VanVleet in the starting five Wednesday. Despite starting in the regular-season finale, Flynn is unlikely to see extended playing time, averaging 1.8 points in 7.6 minutes across his last five appearances off the bench.... See More ... Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Pops for 20 against Bucks
Flynn accumulated 20 points (7-14 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, four assists and one steal in 36 minutes during Sunday's 121-105 victory over Milwaukee. The third-year guard set a new season high in scoring on the season's final day, but it was also the first time Flynn has seen more than 19 minutes since late December. The Raptors still lack reliable depth at point guard behind Fred VanVleet heading into the play-in tournament, however, so Flynn's performance Sunday might have been enough to earn him a bigger role off the bench Wednesday in a must-win game against the Bulls.... Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Starting season finale
Flynn is in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Bucks. Flynn moves into the starting lineup Sunday with Fred VanVleet (thumb) out. This will be just his second start of the campaign, and he posted eight points with three assists in his previous one against the Nets on Nov. 23.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Plays 17 minutes in win
Flynn had five points (1-8 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and one block across 17 minutes during Friday's 118-97 win over the Pistons. Flynn remained a relevant piece for the Raptors but failed to make the most of his opportunity. He has been in and out of the rotation for most of the season, playing only when injuries to other players allow. Even as the primary backup, Flynn is not worth picking up in fantasy outside of deeper formats.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Makes garabage-time appearance
Flynn supplied no counting stats in one minute during Tuesday's 125-110 victory over the Nuggets. Flynn picked up one minute of playing time in the win, seeing the court in the dying stages of a blowout. This was the first time he has left the bench since late February, continuing what has been a hugely underwhelming season thus far. The Raptors are known for running a shallow rotation, meaning Flynn is not someone to consider, even in the deepest of formats.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Gets extra minutes sans Trent
Flynn played 18 minutes off the bench and finished with five points (2-5 FG, 1-2 3Pt), two rebounds and one assist in Sunday's 119-118 win over the Pistons. With Gary Trent (calf) joining OG Anunoby (wrist) on the sideline Sunday, Flynn saw an uptick in playing time out of necessity, as the Raptors' already-thin backcourt depth became further tested. In spite of those two absences, head coach Nick Nurse continued to lean more heavily into ultra-big lineups, resulting in Flynn handling what was still a relatively modest minutes total. Flynn may keep a spot in the rotation through the All-Star break, but he'll likely drop out of the mix again once both Trent and Anunoby are back to full health.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Fails to score in 13 minutes
Flynn ended Thursday's 124-114 victory over Charlotte with zero points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt), three assists and one steal in 13 minutes. Flynn was a non-factor in the victory, continuing what has been a disappointing season thus far. To this point, he has scored double-digits on just six occasions, placing him well outside the top 300 in standard fantasy formats. The Raptors are known for running tight rotations, so even if there are a couple of injuries, Flynn is unlikely to take a gigantic step forward.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Efficient from deep
Flynn notched nine points (3-7 FG, 3-6 3Pt), three rebounds, three assists and one steal across 23 minutes during Friday's 118-107 win over Cleveland. All of Flynn's points Friday came from behind the three-point line. The third-year guard has carved out a significant role off the bench recently, coinciding with Gary Trent missing time, averaging 10.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 26.6 minutes across his last five games.... Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Likely to see floor Friday
Head coach Nick Nurse suggested Friday that Flynn will likely see some minutes Friday versus the Nets, Eric Smith of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports. Flynn hasn't seen action in any of the last three games, but it appears Nurse will make a concerted effort to get him on the floor at some point Friday. Even so, Flynn has played no more than six minutes in any of his past five appearances, so it may not be more than a brief spell.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Coming off bench vs. Mavs
Flynn will come off the bench Saturday against the Mavericks, Doug Smith of the Toronto Star reports. Flynn heads back to the bench with Fred VanVleet returning. In Flynn's past four games off the bench, he's averaged 12.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 19.5 minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Produces with increased workload
Flynn supplied 17 points (7-12 FG, 3-6 3Pt), five rebounds, three assists and two steals over 28 minutes before fouling out of Saturday's 124-122 overtime loss to Atlanta. Flynn saw a season high in minutes due to an injured Toronto backcourt, and he came through with his best scoring and rebounding performance of the 2022-23 campaign. He continues to find success from beyond the arc, where he's knocked down nine of his last 19 attempts from deep. Flynn should see more playing time until Gary Trent (hip) and Dalano Banton (ankle) are cleared to return.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Fills it up in limited action
Flynn produced 12 points (3-6 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds and four assists over 15 minutes during Monday's 115-111 win over the Pistons. With Fred VanVleet (illness), Gary Trent (hip) and Pascal Siakam (groin) out, Flynn saw increased usage. Despite playing just 15 minutes, he had his best performance of the season, though teammate Dalano Banton stole the show with 27 points, four boards, four dimes, three steals and two blocks. Flynn, the 29th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, has seen spot action throughout his career and only makes for a streaming candidate, mostly in deeper leagues, when the Raptors are dealing with injuries.... Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Scores eight points in 23 minutes
Flynn logged eight points (3-9 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal across 23 minutes during Saturday's 118-104 loss to the Pacers. Flynn logged a season-high 23 minutes in the loss, highlighting just how sporadic his playing time has been. It took a number of injuries for him to move into a meaningful role, something that is only going to stick for a short while. Despite this performance, he is not worth adding outside of the deepest formats.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Fourth-year option picked up
The Raptors picked up Flynn's $3.87 million option for the 2023-24 season Wednesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Flynn didn't play during the preseason after undergoing surgery to address a left cheekbone fracture, but he's available for Wednesday's regular-season opener against Cleveland. The 24-year-old took a slight step back in his production last year but will remain under contract with the Raptors for at least the next two seasons.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Will play Wednesday
Flynn will play in Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Cavaliers, Aaron Rose of SI.com reports. Flynn underwent surgery to address a left checkbone fracture this offseason and didn't play during the preseason. However, he appeared to be trending in the right direction when he recently returned to practice donning a mask, which he'll likely wear during Wednesday's matchup against Cleveland. The third-year guard figures to compete with Dalano Banton for the top guard spot off the bench behind Fred VanVleet and Gary Trent during the 2022-23 campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Practices with mask
Flynn (face) participated in Sunday's practice while wearing a mask, Eric Koreen of The Athletic reports. The extent of Flynn's participation remains unclear, but it's an encouraging sign to see him continuing to take steps in his rehab following surgery to address a left checkbone fracture. His status for Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Cavaliers remains unclear, but when available, he figures to garner a modest reserve role.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Expected back soon
Raptors coach Nick Nurse said Thursday that Flynn (face) should be back to full-contact practices next week, Eric Koreen of The Athletic reports. Flynn has not played this preseason after undergoing a procedure to address a left cheekbone fracture. Flynn will return to full-contact practices right in time for the Raptors' regular-season opener on Oct. 19. If Flynn is able to return in time, he will likely be one of the team's primary backups at guard.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Gets procedure for cheekbone
The Raptors announced Wednesday that Flynn underwent a procedure to address a left cheekbone fracture, Michael Grange of Sportsnet.ca reports. Flynn is expected to be ready to play in the Raptors' Oct. 19 season opener versus the Cavaliers, though he'll wear a face shield upon his return to the court. Flynn suffered the injury in question during the third quarter of Sunday's preseason game against the Jazz. He'll likely sit out the Raptors' next three preseason contests, but he could be ready to go for the exhibition finale Oct. 14 if he's made enough progress in his recovery from the procedure. Even though Flynn doesn't look as though he'll be at much risk of missing regular-season time, his injury is less than ideal due to the Raptors' lack of established backcourt depth.... See More ... Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Struggles from field Sunday
Flynn ended Sunday's 105-94 loss to New York with 10 points (4-14 FG, 2-6 3Pt), four rebounds, four assists and two steals in 28 minutes. Flynn had a decent game off the bench and ended up as one of three Toronto players who scored in double digits in the loss. Expect him to remain as a bench piece once the playoffs start, as Fred VanVleet is firmly entrenched as the team's starting point guard, so Flynn will compete with Armoni Brooks for backup minutes in the postseason.... Raptors' Malachi Flynn: Light run behind VanVleet
Flynn (hamstring) logged zero points and one rebound across seven minutes Tuesday in the Raptors' 118-108 win over the Hawks. After missing just under a month with a strained hamstring, Flynn was cleared to return for Sunday's game against the Heat, but he didn't crack the rotation in the Raptors' five-point loss. Head coach Nick Nurse was able to find some court time for Flynn on Tuesday, but the second-year player saw only limited run while starting point guard Fred VanVleet logged 36 minutes. Toronto could have playoff positioning at stake over its final three games of the regular season, so if VanVleet doesn't rest for any of those contests, Flynn likely won't see a meaningful increase in playing time....
