Holmgren (foot) underwent a successful secondary procedure Tuesday to remove hardware from his initial Lisfranc surgery in August, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
Holmgren was ruled out for the entire campaign after being diagnosed with a Lisfranc injury at the end of August. It sounds like Tuesday's procedure was merely a clean-up job, and the 2022 No. 2 overall pick is still on track to be ready for the 2023-24 campaign.

The Thunder announced Thursday that Holmgren has been diagnosed with a Lisfranc injury to his right foot and will miss the entire 2022-23 season, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Holmgren ruptured the tendon in his right foot while competing in a pro-am game in Seattle last weekend and will now require surgery, pushing his NBA debut back to the 2023-24 season. Foot injuries are particularly problematic for big men compared to guard and wing players, but the Thunder are hopeful that Holmgren's youth and slighter build allow him to navigate the lengthy rehab process without any major setbacks to his long-term development. Despite missing his entire first season in the NBA, the 7-foot-1, 195-pound Holmgren still looks to be a strong asset in dynasty leagues, but managers in redraft leagues can now officially take him off their boards for 2022-23. Holmgren's absence for the upcoming season should open more playing time in the frontcourt for the Thunder's other young bigs, namely Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, Aleksej Pokusevski and Darius Bazley.

The Thunder fear that Holmgren suffered significant ligament damage in his right foot, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Holmgren suffered the injury while trying to stop LeBron James on a fast break during a Pro-Am game Saturday. The rookie didn't return to the contest before it was eventually called off due to poor court conditions. Per Charania, exams have shown Holmgren has potential torn ligaments, but a return timetable is still being determined based on further evaluations.

Holmgren suffered the injury when trying to stop LeBron James on a fast break, as the rookie rolled his ankle on the play and came out of the contest. There's no official update regarding the severity of the injury, though Holmgren was later spotted trying to walk off the court. While the Magic opting to rest Paolo Banchero robbed us of a No. 1 vs. No. 2 pick showdown, Holmgren once again took center stage and showed why he's one of the most unique prospects in recent memory. The big man continues to show flashes of two-way brilliance. He's equally comfortable pulling up from three off the dribble as he is swatting shots at the rim. Despite Holmgren's dominance in Summer League, there's some healthy skepticism as to how it will translate to actual NBA competition. We'll have to wait and see on that front, but Holmgren has already shown more than enough to build sufficient hype for his 2022-23 fantasy potential.

Getting his first taste of NBA action, Holmgren could not have looked much more impressive, as he dominated the game on both ends while matching up against the much larger Tacko Fall. Holmgren had 13 points and three three-pointers in the first quarter alone, helping the Thunder jump out to an early 20-point advantage. It's important to remember, of course, that it's only Summer League, but Holmgren certainly has the makings of a potential impact fantasy player in Year 1.

Holmgren was selected by the Thunder with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
A unique prospect, Holmgren will get plenty of opportunities to grow and show his skillset with the rebuilding Thunder. The 7-foot, 195-pound big blocked 3.6 shots in 26.9 minutes per game and was named WCC Defensive Player of the Year. While his frame has some analysts concerned, Holmgren's perimeter shooting and playmaking ability will help make up for some of those issues. He averaged 14.1 points while shooting 60.7 percent from the field for Gonzaga and hit 1.3 threes per game at 39.0 percent.
