Top Blake Wesley News

  • Spurs' Blake Wesley: Scores career-high 14 points

Wesley ended with 14 points (6-9 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 0-2 FT), five rebounds, four assists, one block and two steals across 34 minutes during Saturday's 151-131 loss to Minnesota.

Wesley cobbled together the best game of his young career, playing 34 minutes in the loss. Despite being an every-night part of the rotation over the past two months, Wesley has been largely disappointing. During that time, he is well outside the top 400 in nine-category formats, meaning this should be viewed as an outlier as opposed to what to expect moving forward.

  • Spurs' Blake Wesley: Impresses off bench Wednesday

Wesley tallied 11 points (4-10 FG, 3-5 FT), six rebounds, four assists and three steals in 23 minutes in Wednesday's 137-128 overtime loss to the Mavericks.

After logging a combined 46 minutes a night earlier between the G League's Austin Spurs and the NBA team, Wesley didn't get any rest Wednesday while San Antonio played the second leg of a back-to-back set. With a number of Spurs rotation players sitting out against Dallas, Wesley maintained an elevated role off the bench and was able to produce a solid all-around line. Given the Spurs' status as a non-contender, the team's veterans are likely to be subject to frequent rest days, so the rookie Wesley looks as though he could have some staying power as a regular on the second unit even though he doesn't necessarily project to be a rotation player when the team is at full strength. Wesley has found a path to double-digit minutes in all but one of San Antonio's last 12 games and is averaging 6.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 0.9 assists and 0.7 three-pointers over that stretch, but he's shooting just 31.6 percent from the field.

  • Spurs' Blake Wesley: Dishes out season-high seven dimes

Wesley accumulated eight points (3-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt), two rebounds and seven assists across 23 minutes during Tuesday's 132-114 victory over Orlando.

With Romeo Langford (thigh), Tre Jones (illness) and Malaki Branham (shoulder) all out, Wesley saw extended playing time again and posted a season-high seven assists. The rookie first-round pick has played at least 15 minutes in each of his past 10 appearances and has averaged 5.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 21.0 minutes during that stretch.

  • Spurs' Blake Wesley: Rejoins Spurs

The Spurs recalled Wesley from the G League on Saturday, Jeff Garcia of KENS 5 San Antonio reports.

Wesley dropped 30 points for the team's Austin affiliate Friday evening, and he'll return to San Antonio on Saturday. However, his path to playing time isn't nearly as clear with the regulars all healthy.

  • Spurs' Blake Wesley: Assigned to G League

Wesley was assigned to the G League's Austin Spurs on Friday, Jeff Garcia of KENS 5 San Antonio reports.

Wesley played double-digit minutes in 12 of San Antonio's last 13 games and averaged 5.6 points and 2.4 rebounds in 18.5 minutes per game. However, he'll head to the G League, where he should have the opportunity to see even more run.

  • Spurs' Blake Wesley: Solid two-way effort Tuesday

Wesley contributed nine points (3-5 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds, two assists and three steals across 21 minutes during Tuesday's 102-94 win over the Jazz.

Wesley racked up a career-high three steals in the win, as he begins to carve out a somewhat consistent role for himself. He has now played at least 20 minutes in three straight games, proving his worth on both ends of the floor. Malaki Branham (hip) was unable to finish the game, so there could potentially be even more minutes available for Wesley, at least in the short term. He probably isn't a must-roster player in standard formats, although managers with some breathing room could consider grabbing him to see what happens against the Pacers on Thursday.

Wesley will make his first start of the season Friday. The rookie guard is averaging 4.2 points, 1.4 assists and 1.0 rebounds in 13.0 minutes across his last five outings, but he could see a boost with increased minutes. However, his starting stint figures to be a short one.

Wesley had 28 points (10-18 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 4-6 FT), five rebounds, four assists and a steal across 33 minutes in Sunday's loss to Iowa.

Wesley was impressive Sunday and had another impressive outing, though that has been common for him at the G League level. He's averaging 20.0 points per game across 10 outings this season.

Wesley and Dominick Barlow were both elevated from the G League and will be available Monday. Wesley played 18 points and scored nine points during the Spurs' previous contest and figures to see a similar role against the Bulls, as Tre Jones (foot), Romeo Langford (thigh), Jeremy Sochan (back) and Devin Vassell (knee) have all been ruled out.

  • Spurs' Blake Wesley: Sent to G League

Wesley was assigned to the Austin Spurs on Saturday, Ty Jager of PoundingTheRock.com reports.

Wesley has bounced back and forth between the NBA and the G League all season and will likely only be in Austin for a limited time. He has seen plenty of run with San Antonio as of late, with the team battling a slew of injuries.

The Spurs assigned Wesley to the Austin Spurs of the G League on Thursday, Jeff Garcia of KENS 5 San Antonio reports.

  • Spurs' Blake Wesley: Recalled by San Antonio

Wesley was recalled from the G League's Austin Spurs on Thursday, Jeff Garcia of KENS 5 San Antonio reports.

Wesley spent the last few days in the G League but will provide additional depth for the parent club with Romeo Langford (hip) banged up. Over four NBA appearances this year, Wesley has averaged 5.8 points in 9.8 minutes per game.

  • Spurs' Blake Wesley: Pours 14 points as starter

Wesley delivered 14 points (5-17 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-3 FT), a rebound and two steals across 29 minutes in Saturday's 115-82 loss to Ontario.

Wesley has moved between the NBA and the G League all season, but there's no question he's been more productive with Austin than with San Antonio. The fact that he ended with more shots (17) than points (14) is concerning, but he's still posting decent numbers for a struggling Austin team. He's averaging 17.9 points per game in seven appearances during the G League regular season.

  • Spurs' Blake Wesley: Back to NBA

San Antonio recalled Wesley from the G League's Austin Spurs on Tuesday, Jeff Garcia of KENS 5 San Antonio reports.

Wesley was assigned to the G League for Austin's matchup against Stockton on Monday night, and the rookie first-round pick didn't disappoint as he scored a game-high 29 points (10-18 FG). However, he's made only four NBA appearances this season and is averaging just 5.8 points, 1.3 assists and 1.0 rebounds in 9.8 minutes.

  • Spurs' Blake Wesley: Recalled, available Saturday

Wesley has been recalled ahead of Saturday's game versus the Celtics and will be available, Ty Jager of PoundingTheRock.com reports.

Wesley hasn't appeared in an NBA game since Oct. 30, and there is no guarantee that will change Saturday with most of the regulars available for the Spurs. Even if he does, Wesley isn't a big enough contributor to jump on the fantasy radar.

  • Spurs' Blake Wesley: Goes for 19 in loss

Wesley racked up 19 points (7-17 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds, six assists and two steals across 30 minutes in Wednesday's 128-103 loss to Capital City.

Wesley co-led Austin in assists and steals, but he also made his presence felt as the team's second-best scorer in this one. The first-round pick of the 2022 NBA Draft has surpassed the 15-point mark in two of his first three outings of the campaign.
