Reed accumulated 14 points (6-7 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one block over 21 minutes during Friday's 125-119 loss to Boston. With Joel Embiid (illness) unavailable, Reed got the start at center and responded with a season high in points. Reed has scored in double digits only three times all year, but those performances have all come within the last nine games -- a stretch in which he's averaging 7.0 points, 4.2 boards, 0.9 blocks and 0.7 steals in just 16.7 minutes a night while shooting 60.0 percent from the floor.... 76ers' Paul Reed: Enters starting lineup
Reed will start Friday's game against Boston, Ky Carlin of USA Today reports. Joel Embiid (illness) is sitting out Friday's game, so Reed will start at center, while Marcus Morris replaces Nicolas Batum (finger) at power forward. Reed offers plenty of fantasy upside, particularly in category leagues. In his last outing against the Pelicans on Wednesday, Reed had nine points, five assists, four rebounds and one steal.... 76ers' Paul Reed: Strong defense in Embiid's absence
Reed logged 10 points (5-9 FG), nine rebounds, one assist, four blocks and two steals in 26 minutes during Wednesday's 112-99 loss to Minnesota. With Joel Embiid (hip) sidelined, Reed was given extra run, though he surprisingly came off the bench while Marcus Morris got the start. Reed continues to prove that, when given the minutes, he can produce excellent fantasy numbers. However, head coach Nick Nurse has shown hesitancy to play Reed and Embiid together, capping the 24-year-old's upside.... See More ... See Less -
76ers' Paul Reed: Efficient against Boston
Reed contributed 10 points (4-5 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds, two assists and one block over 14 minutes during Wednesday's 117-107 loss to the Celtics. Although Reed came off the bench once again Wednesday, he was efficient from the floor to score in double figures for the first time this year, and he also matched his season-high mark of six rebounds. Joel Embiid has played through a hip injury recently, and Reed would likely carry some streaming value if the 2022-23 NBA MVP is forced to miss any time. Reed has been relatively consistent on the boards early in the season but hasn't generated much production in other areas.... See More ... See Less -
76ers' Paul Reed: Heads to bench
Reed isn't in the starting five for Friday's preseason game versus the Hawks, Austin Krell of USA Today reports. Reed will be replaced by Joel Embiid in the starting lineup for Friday's preseason finale. Reed is set to serve as Embiid's backup yet again this season.... See More ... See Less -
76ers' Paul Reed: Solid all-around effort
Reed delivered 10 points (5-9 FG, 0-2 3Pt), seven rebounds, five assists and two steals across 22 minutes in Wednesday's 112-101 preseason loss to the Celtics. Reed made the most of his minutes Wednesday and delivered value on both ends of the court, though his passing numbers were surprising -- he didn't record more than three dimes in any game last season. Reed should open the season as a frontcourt backup who should see plenty of minutes due to his ability to play both power forward and center.... See More ... See Less -
76ers' Paul Reed: Retained by Philadelphia
Reed will remain with Philadelphia after the 76ers matched his three-year, $23 million offer sheet with the Jazz on Sunday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Reed, a restricted free agent, came to terms with the Jazz on the deal on Saturday, but the 76ers didn't take long to match the agreement. The contract also states the Sixers must guarantee the last two years of Reed's deal if they win the opening round of playoffs this season. Reed averaged 4.2 points and 3.8 rebounds as a backup to Joel Embiid last season, and he'll likely fill that role again in 2022-23. However, with the 76ers bringing in seven-footer Mo Bamba on a one-year deal this offseason, it's possible that the undersized Reed exits the rotation in certain matchups when Philadelphia wants a bigger center on the court.... 76ers' Paul Reed: Receives offer from Utah
The Jazz signed Reed to a three-year, $23 million contract Saturday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Reed is a restricted free agent, so Philadelphia will have until the end of Sunday to match Utah's offer. The 24-year-old big man was the primary backup to Joel Embiid last season but could be seen as expendable with Montrezl Harrell and Mo Bamba on the roster.... See More ... See Less -
76ers' Paul Reed: Becoming restricted free agent
The 76ers extended a qualifying offer to Reed on Wednesday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports. After receiving the qualifying offer from the team, Reed officially becomes a restricted free agent. Reed filled the role of backup center for Philadelphia in 2022-23, appearing in a career-high 69 regular-season games and averaging 4.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks/steals over 10.9 minutes. The highlight of his campaign came in the playoffs, where he stepped into the starting lineup in place of Joel Embiid for a pair of games and posted back-to-back double-doubles on a combined 8-of-12 shooting from the field.... 76ers' Paul Reed: Slides back to bench
Reed will not start Wednesday's Game 2 versus the Celtics, Kyle Neubeck of PhillyVoice.com reports. Reed double-doubled in both of his starts filling in for Joel Embiid, who was dealing with a sprained right knee. However, with Embiid cleared for Game 2 action, Reed will return to the second unit. Reed averaged 6.3 points and 4.3 rebounds across 11.3 minutes in his three playoff appearances with the reserves and should handle a similar workload Wednesday.... See More ... See Less -
76ers' Paul Reed: Posts double-double as starter
Reed chipped in 10 points (3-4 FG, 4-4 FT), 13 rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal across 37 minutes during Monday's 119-115 win over the Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Reed got his second straight start in place of Joel Embiid (knee) and led the 76ers in rebounds en route to a double-double outing in Game 1. Reed, who could start again in Game 2 if Embiid is out again, has posted 10 points and at least 13 rebounds in back-to-back games as a starter.... See More ... See Less -
76ers' Paul Reed: Drawing start at center
Reed is starting Monday's Game 1 against the Celtics, Ky Carlin of USA Today reports. Reed entered the starting lineup in place of Joel Embiid (knee) for his team's Game 4 victory over the Nets in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, and he'll draw another start Monday evening. Reed put up 10 points, 15 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 32 minutes during his last start.... See More ... See Less -
76ers' Paul Reed: Double-double in Game 4 win
Reed notched 10 points (5-10 FG), 15 rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in 32 minutes during Saturday's 96-88 victory over the Nets in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. With Joel Embiid (knee) sidelined, Reed stepped into the starting lineup, helping the Nets secure a 4-0 series win. Head coach Doc Rivers started Reed over Montrezl Harrell and Dewayne Dedmon. It sounds as though Embiid could also miss at least the first game of Philadelphia's second-round series, meaning Reed's time as the starting center could extend a little longer.... See More ... 76ers' Paul Reed: Starting Game 4
Reed is starting at center in Saturday's Game 4 against the Nets. With Joel Embiid (knee) sidelined, Reed was the expected replacement at center, so there is no surprise here. As a result, the big man figures to see a heavier workload than the previous games in this series. He averaged 15.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists across 30.7 minutes in two starts during the regular season.... See More ... See Less -
76ers' Paul Reed: Retakes spot on bench for Game 1
Reed won't start Saturday's Eastern Conference First Round versus the Nets. Reed grabbed a pair of starts with Joel Embiid resting late in the regular season, but he'll resume his usual bench role behind Embiid in postseason play. Reed can compile some decent stat lines even in limited minutes, so he should remain an option in some daily formats despite the move back to the bench.... See More ... See Less -
76ers' Paul Reed: Dominates in spot start
Reed posted 17 points (8-15 FG, 1-2 3Pt), 10 rebounds, five blocks, two steals and one assist across 28 minutes during Sunday's 134-105 win over the Nets. Starting in place of a resting Joel Embiid in the regular-season finale, Reed delivered an outstanding line for anyone who streamed him for rebounds and/or production in the defensive categories. After being on the periphery of head coach Doc Rivers' rotation for the early part of the season, Reed seemingly established himself as the clear top backup to Embiid over Montrezl Harrell and Dewayne Dedmon by the end of the campaign. He appeared in 69 of the 76ers' 82 games, averaging 4.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 0.7 blocks, 0.7 steals and 0.4 assists in 10.9 minutes per contest while shooting 59.3 percent from the field. So long as Embiid is available, Reed doesn't have much upside to see his role expand much in 2023-24, but as he showed Sunday, the third-year big man boasts a fantasy-friendly skill set that could make him an appealing pickup if Embiid misses time at any point.... See More ... See Less -
76ers' Paul Reed: Starting Friday
Reed is starting at center for Friday's game in Atlanta, Kyle Neubeck of PhillyVoice.com reports. The 76ers are resting all their usual starters, so Reed figures to see a healthy role throughout the game. The start is his first of the season.... See More ... See Less -
76ers' Paul Reed: Turns in another solid showing
Reed ended with 11 points (3-5 FG, 5-5 FT), six rebounds, two assists and one block in 14 minutes during Friday's 117-110 win over Toronto. Reed has looked strong off the bench in the last week of March, as he's scored in double digits in two of his last three contests and has tallied three blocks and three steals over this brief stretch. As long as he continues to log around 15 minutes per contest, Reed could be a streaming option for fantasy managers in search of rebounds and blocks down the stretch.... See More ... See Less -
76ers' Paul Reed: Near double-double off bench
Reed registered 16 points (7-7 FG, 2-3 FT), nine rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block across 17 minutes during Monday's 116-111 loss to the Nuggets. With Joel Embiid (calf) sitting out, Dewayne Dedmon drew the start at center, but Reed saw more playing time and outproduced the veteran backup. Embiid is questionable Wednesday against Dallas, so Reed could see elevated usage again if the MVP candidate is absent.... See More ... See Less -
76ers' Paul Reed: Dynamic in limited minutes
Reed amassed eight points (4-8 FG), 10 rebounds and three blocks in 12 minutes during Friday's 121-82 victory over the Hornets. Reed grabbed a few extra minutes Friday, cashing in as the game fell into garbage time. Known as a per-minute beast, Reed lived up to expectations, falling two rebounds short of a double-double and adding three blocked shots. While there is no move to currently make from a fantasy perspective, managers can hope that Reed lands in a more favorable situation at some point.... See More ... See Less
