Lakers' Jalen Hood-Schifino: Scores first NBA points Wednesday
Hood-Schifino amassed 10 points (3-4 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-6 FT), one rebound and one assist over 11 minutes off the bench during Wednesday's 133-107 victory over Detroit. After being held scoreless in his NBA debut in Monday's blowout loss to the 76ers, Hood-Schifino looked more at ease Wednesday as he got some late-game run in a blowout. The 17th overall pick in the draft has only seen action in garbage time so far, and the Lakers' backcourt rotation could get a little more crowded soon, as Gabe Vincent (knee) appears on track to make his return to the lineup at some point in December.... Lakers' Jalen Hood-Schifino: Active as expected
Hood-Schifino (knee) will play in Wednesday's game against Dallas. Hood-Schifino was initially tabbed as probable with a right knee contusion, but he'll be available against the Mavericks. While he's yet to make his NBA debut, he'll have a decent chance at cracking the rotation with Cam Reddish (groin) sidelined.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Jalen Hood-Schifino: Likely to suit up Wednesday
Hood-Schifino (knee) is listed as probable for Wednesday's game versus the Mavericks. Hood-Schifino continues to deal with a right patella contusion but will likely suit up for a third straight game. Lakers' Jalen Hood-Schifino: Upgraded to available
Hood-Schifino (knee) is available for Tuesday's game versus the Jazz, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports. Hood-Schifino has yet to make his NBA debut, as he missed the first 13 games of the season with a right knee injury. However, he was available for Sunday's contest but failed to log any minutes, so it seems unlikely the rookie guard will receive significant playing time.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Jalen Hood-Schifino: Questionable for Tuesday
Hood-Schifino is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Jazz due to a right patella contusion, Lauren Jones of The Sporting Tribune reports. Hood-Schifino was listed as available for Sunday's matchup against the Rockets, but he failed to see any action. His status for Tuesday should come into focus following morning shootaround and pregame warmups.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Jalen Hood-Schifino: Suiting up Sunday
Hood-Schifino (knee) is available for Sunday's game against Houston, Khobi Price of The Orange County Register reports. Hood-Schifino has been dealing with a right patella contusion since mid-October, but he'll be available to make his season debut Sunday. It's unclear how much of a role he'll have during his rookie season, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him limited during Sunday's matchup.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Jalen Hood-Schifino: Questionable to face Houston
Hood-Schifino (knee) is questionable to play Sunday against the Rockets, Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times reports. Hood-Schifino continues to deal with a right patella contusion, and while there's no specific date for his return, he's not ruled out for the upcoming matchup. He progressed to full on-court-drills earlier this week.... See More ... See Less -

Lakers' Jalen Hood-Schifino: Out for multiple weeks
Lakers coach Darvin Ham said Saturday that Hood-Schifino (knee) is "still a few weeks" from returning, Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com reports. Hood-Schifino will continue to miss time while dealing with a right patella contusion he suffered during the preseason. Based on this timeline, the rookie guard will likely be in the mix to return in late November or early December.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Jalen Hood-Schifino: Still unavailable
Hood-Schifino (knee) has been ruled out for Saturday's matchup against the Magic, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports. Hood-Schifino continues to rehab from a right patella contusion he suffered during a preseason game in mid-October. It's unclear when he'll suit up again, but the Lakers said the rookie point guard would be re-evaluated at the beginning of November.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Jalen Hood-Schifino: NBA debut pushed back
Hood-Schifino is dealing with a right patella contusion and will be re-evaluated Nov. 3, Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet reports. Hood-Schifino suffered the injury when he banged knees with an opponent in a preseason game Oct. 13. He's been unable to return to preseason action and will now miss at least the Lakers' first five regular-season games while he recovers from the knee injury. The rookie first-round pick is uncertain to be part of the rotation once he's fully healthy.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Jalen Hood-Schifino: Won't play Sunday
Hood-Schifino won't play in Sunday's preseason game against the Bucks, Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com reports. The rookie reportedly banged knees against Golden State, but his absence is simply precautionary. Hood-Schifino is competing for a reserve spot in the Lakers' backcourt, but he may have to spend some time developing in the G League before he's able to carve out a consistent role.... See More ... Lakers' Jalen Hood-Schifino: Solid performance against Hornets
Hood-Schifino totaled 15 points (5-10 FG, 2-2 3PT, 3-6 FT), five assists, three rebounds and a block over 31 minutes of Sunday's 93-75 Summer League win over the Hornets. After going 0-for-9 from three in his first two outings, Hood-Schifino knocked down both of his three-point attempts in the Lakers' third Summer League Game. The 17th overall pick was also productive in pick-and-roll situations. Hood-Schifino has impressed for the Lakers thus far, and he figures to remain in a feature role for the team throughout the Summer League.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Jalen Hood-Schifino: Drafted by Lakers at No. 17
Hood-Schifino was selected by the Lakers with the No. 17 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. In his one-and-done year at Indiana, Hood-Schifino was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year and Second-team All-Big Ten behind 13.5 points on 42/33/78 shooting, 4.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 33.1 minutes per game. He's a big point guard at 6-foot-6, 217 pounds, with lead point guard skills -- great vision, passing and handling. Long-range shooting is a weak point. The Lakers' offseason plans are murky and full of options, so it remains to be seen how featured Hood-Schifino will be out of the gate. Regardless of the organization's free-agency plans, he should at least see some reserve guard minutes.... See More ... See Less
