Simons recorded 16 points (6-15 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal in 33 minutes during Sunday's 117-102 loss to the Clippers. Simons is shooting just 38.5 percent from the field and 25.0 percent from deep over his past four appearances. He was able to somewhat salvage his fantasy production Sunday by dishing out six assists, his most since Feb. 13, and recording at least one tally in each defensive category for the first time since Feb. 8.... Trail Blazers' Anfernee Simons: Struggles throughout contest
Simons racked up 17 points (5-15 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 5-8 FT), one rebound, four assists and one steal in 39 minutes during Friday's 126-112 loss to the Celtics. Simons had a tough time getting going with nine first-half points on just 3-of-9 shooting from the field while failing to record any assists or rebounds. He made only two more shots in the second half, along with three of six free throw attempts before finishing second on the team with 17 points on the night. The shooting guard is now shooting 34.2 percent from the field and 27.7 percent from three over his last two games.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Anfernee Simons: Scores empty 22 points
Simons contributed 22 points (7-20 FG, 3-11 3Pt, 5-6 FT), one rebound and one assist in 34 minutes during Tuesday's 123-107 loss to the Knicks. Simons appears to be over his recent ankle injury, popping off for 22 points including three triples. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. Not only did he fail to record a defensive stat, but he added two combined rebounds and assists while shooting a woeful 7-of-20 from the floor. While there is a place for Simons in all 12-team leagues, his lack of peripheral production does cap his overall upside.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Anfernee Simons: Struggles from deep Sunday
Simons provided 17 points (7-15 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds and four assists over 25 minutes during Sunday's 127-110 loss to the Pelicans. Simons couldn't repeat the 34-point performance he delivered against the 76ers on Friday, and he had a poor outing when it came to his three-point shooting. Overall, his numbers have been trending in the wrong direction, and he's failed to reach the 20-point mark in five of his last six appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Anfernee Simons: Makes huge impact in return
Simons logged 34 points (13-22 FG, 8-12 3Pt, 0-1 FT), one rebound and two assists over 29 minutes during Friday's 120-119 loss to the 76ers. Simons didn't show any signs of rust after missing his team's last four contests and seven of the last eight games due to an ankle injury. He caught fire from beyond the arc, scoring 24 of his 34 points from deep in the tightly-contested loss. This marks his most made triples since Feb. 3, when he drained eight threes against Washington.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Anfernee Simons: Available, starting Friday
Simons (ankle) will start Friday's game against Philadelphia, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports. After missing seven of the last eight games, Simons has been cleared to return and will immediately return to the starting lineup. Over nine appearances since the start of February, he's averaged 18.2 points and 4.7 assists in 32.3 minutes per game. However, it wouldn't be surprising if he faces a minutes restriction Friday.... Trail Blazers' Anfernee Simons: Questionable Friday
Simons (ankle) is questionable for Friday's game against Philadelphia. Simons has missed the last four games due to a sprained right ankle, but it's encouraging that he's listed as questionable for Friday's matchup rather than being ruled out immediately. If he remains sidelined, Cam Reddish should continue to start for the Trail Blazers.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Anfernee Simons: Won't play Wednesday
Simons (ankle) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Celtics. Simons is slated to miss a fourth straight game due to a right ankle sprain. His next chance to suit up will come Friday in Philadelphia. In Simons' absence, Cam Reddish has flourished in a starting role.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Anfernee Simons: Out again Monday
Simons (ankle) has been ruled out for Monday's matchup against the Pistons. Simons is slated to miss a third straight game due to a right ankle sprain. It's unclear when he'll be able to suit up again, but he's appeared in just one contest since the All-Star break. Cam Reddish will presumably remain in the starting lineup until Simons is cleared to return.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Anfernee Simons: Ruled out Sunday
Simons (ankle) will not play in Sunday's game against the Magic, Sean Highkin of RoseGardenReport.com reports. Sunday's contest will mark Simons' fifth absence in the team's last six games with a sprained right ankle. Cam Reddish should be expected to remain in the starting lineup, while Shaedon Sharpe and Keon Johnson are candidates to receive more minutes off the bench. Simons will have a chance to suit up for the closing end of the back-to-back set Monday in Detroit.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Anfernee Simons: Downgraded to out
Simons (ankle) has been ruled out for Friday's game against Atlanta, Sean Highkin of RoseGardenReport.com reports. As expected, Simons has been downgraded from doubtful to out. Cam Reddish figures to slide back into the starting lineup with Simons unavailable, but Shaedon Sharpe and Keon Johnson could also see increased roles off the bench.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Anfernee Simons: Doubtful to play Friday
Simons (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Friday's game versus the Hawks. Simons indicated after Wednesday's game versus the Pelicans that he would likely miss Friday's festivities, and his doubtful designation aligns with that train of thought. Cam Reddish may be the most likely option to join the starting unit if Simons sits as expected.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Anfernee Simons: Expects to sit Friday
Simons (ankle) suggested after Wednesday's 121-110 loss to the Pelicans that he doesn't expect to play in Friday's game in Atlanta, Jason Quick of The Athletic reports. After missing three straight games with a Grade 2 right ankle sprain, Simons was cleared to return to the lineup Wednesday, but he played just 20 minutes before exiting in the third quarter upon aggravating the injury. Though neither Simons nor head coach Chauncey Billups shed much light on the extent of his setback, look for the Trail Blazers to err on the side of caution and hold the shooting guard out for the start of their upcoming road trip. Cam Reddish -- who started six straight games before moving to the bench Wednesday -- is the most likely candidate to replace Simons on the Blazers' top unit.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Anfernee Simons: Aggravates ankle injury
Simons won't return to Wednesday's game against the Pelicans due to a right ankle sprain. After being diagnosed with a Grade 2 ankle sprain following his early exit from a Feb. 14 loss to the Wizards, Simons missed just three games before he was surprisingly cleared to play Wednesday. However, it didn't take long for Simons to aggravate the injury, as he exited Wednesday's game in the third quarter and finished with four points (2-9 FG, 0-3 3Pt), three rebounds and one assist in 20 minutes. Even if the setback doesn't prove to be too significant, the Trail Blazers are likely to take a cautious approach with Simons, who may not be ready to play in the team's next game Friday in Atlanta.... Trail Blazers' Anfernee Simons: Will return Wednesday
Simons (ankle) will return to the floor for Wednesday's matchup with the Pelicans, Danny Marang of 1080 The Fan Portland reports. This will be Simons' first game back on the court since Feb. 14, so he might have his minutes monitored in this one. Still, it's a solid matchup in what should be an uptempo game, so Simons is safe to activate in season-long settings. His return will likely result in either Cam Reddish or Matisse Thybulle heading back to the second unit, and Shaedon Sharpe's minutes could dip.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Anfernee Simons: Questionable Wednesday
Simons (ankle) is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Pelicans. Simons has missed the last three matchups due to a Grade 2 ankle sprain but will be in the mix to return to the court Wednesday. Once he's cleared to return, Cam Reddish, Keon Johnson and Shaedon Sharpe could see their roles decrease slightly.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Anfernee Simons: Progressing, no timetable
Simons (ankle) is progressing in his recovery but remains without a timetable for a return, Sean Highkin of RoseGardenReport.com reports. Simons was diagnosed with a Grade 2 ankle sprain right before the All-Star break, and it's unclear when he'll return. Updates should arrive as he makes tangible progress. In his absence, more minutes should be available for Shaedon Sharpe, Matisse Thybulle and Cam Reddish.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Anfernee Simons: Diagnosed with Grade 2 sprain
Simons (ankle) underwent an MRI on Thursday that revealed a Grade 2 strain. Simons sprained his ankle during Tuesday's loss to the Wizards, with head coach Chauncey Billups noting after the game that the young guard could be in danger of missing time. Though Simons now has a firm diagnosis for the injury, the Trail Blazers aren't yet offering up a timeline for the 23-year-old and plan to re-evaluate him after the All-Star break. However, Aaron J. Fentress of The Oregonian notes that Trail Blazers teammate Justise Winslow suffered a Grade 2 ankle sprain Dec. 21 and has been sidelined ever since, so Simons could very well be in store for an extended absence of his own.... Trail Blazers' Anfernee Simons: MRI for ankle on tap
Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups said after Tuesday's 126-101 loss to the Wizards that X-rays on Simons' sprained right ankle returned negative, but the shooting guard is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Thursday, Danny Marang of 1080 The Fan Portland reports. Though Billups expressed optimism that Simons has avoided a long-term injury, the coach admitted the injury the 23-year-old suffered late in the third quarter "didn't look awesome," per Aaron J. Fentress of The Oregonian. The upcoming MRI will ultimately reveal the severity of Simons' ankle sprain, but at this stage, fantasy managers should be prepared for the possibility that he isn't ready to play when the Trail Blazers play their first game out of the All-Star break Feb. 23 versus the Kings. Shaedon Sharpe and newly acquired wings Matisse Thybulle and Cam Reddish could all benefit from increased playing time if Simons is forced to miss time with the ankle injury.... See More ... Trail Blazers' Anfernee Simons: Won't return Tuesday
Simons is out for the remainder of Tuesday's game versus the Wizards due to a right ankle sprain. Simons suffered his injury against Washington late in the third quarter. There is no indication of his return timetable. His next chance to suit up will be Feb. 23 against Sacramento.... See More ... See Less
