Champagnie produced 20 points (7-15 FG, 4-10 3PT, 2-3 FT), eight rebounds, six assists and one block in 30 minutes of Friday's 76-68 Summer League win over the Hornets. Champagnie was one of the most impressive players during the Salt Lake City Summer League, averaging 29.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 2.0 steals, 1.0 blocks and 5.0 three-pointers in two appearances. He carried that momentum over to Vegas and had one of the highlights of the exhibitions so far with a monster dunk over James Nnaji. Champagnie is doing everything he can to show that he's ready for rotation minutes in 2023-24.... See More ... See Less

Spurs' Julian Champagnie: Continues Summer League dominance
Champagnie recorded 28 points (8-17 FG, 5-10 3PT, 7-7 FT), five rebounds and two blocks over 27 minutes of Wednesday's 109-99 Summer League win over the Lakers. After dropping 30 points in the Spurs' Summer League opener, Champagnie poured in 28 more points Wednesday. Though Victor Wembenyama is expected to join the team in Las Vegas for their upcoming games, Champagnie should remain one of San Antonio's top options.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Julian Champagnie: Drops 30 points in win
Champagnie scored 30 points (9-20 FG, 5-12 3Pt, 7-9 FT) and added eight rebounds, two assists and four steals in 25 minutes during Monday's Summer League game against the Hornets. Champagnie scored 15 of his 30 points from beyond the arc in this one and led the Spurs' scoring attack in the first action of Summer League. After inking a four-year, $12 million contract at the end of June, the second-year guard has plenty to prove heading into his second NBA season.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Julian Champagnie: Returning to San Antonio
The Spurs signed Champagnie to a four-year, $12 million contract with a team option for 2026-27 on Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Champagnie split time between San Antonio and Philadelphia during his rookie season. In 15 games for the Spurs, he averaged 11.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in 20.8 minutes on 46.1/40.7/82.4 shooting splits. Champagnie is set to be a cheap, long-term option for the Spurs as they attempt to complete their rebuild after selecting Victor Wembanyama.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Julian Champagnie: Nets qualifying offer
The Spurs tendered Champagnie a two-way qualifying offer Thursday, making him a restricted free agent, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. San Antonio will now be able to match contract offers from other teams. Champagnie played in 17 games between the 76ers and Spurs as a rookie last season and averaged 9.7 points and 3.5 rebounds in 18.8 minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Julian Champagnie: Bags first career double-double
Champagnie totaled 16 points (5-16 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 10 rebounds and three assists in 33 minutes in Sunday's 138-117 win over the Mavericks. Due to San Antonio holding out several key rotation players over the final few weeks of the season, Champagnie was able to take hold of a consistent 20-plus-minute role down the stretch. He wrapped up his rookie campaign with a double-double and averaged 20.0 points (on 47.9 percent shooting from the field), 6.2 boards, 3.8 three-pointers, 1.2 assists and 0.6 steals over his last five outings to conclude the season. Though Champagnie won't be in line to handle heavy minutes to begin the 2023-24 season and may not even be part of the rotation, he likely showed enough for San Antonio to retain him while he heads into restricted free agency this summer.... Spurs' Julian Champagnie: Another strong performance
Champagnie logged 24 points (8-14 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, one assist and two steals across 25 minutes during Thursday's 129-127 victory over the Trail Blazers. Champagnie has finished with at least 10 points and five rebounds in three consecutive contests, including two 20-plus-point outings during that stretch. Over his past 10 appearances (one start), the undrafted rookie out of St. John's has averaged 10.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.0 steals-plus-blocks in 21.5 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Julian Champagnie: Coming off bench
Champagnie will play a reserve role in Friday's game against the Warriors, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports. After a one-game stint in the starting lineup, Champagnie will return to a bench role. He has averaged 5.5 points and 2.2 rebounds across 12.9 minutes in 10 games as a reserve this season.... Spurs' Julian Champagnie: Making first career start
Champagnie will start in Wednesday's game against the Jazz. Champagnie will step into the first five with Devin Vassell (knee), Keldon Johnson (foot) and Jeremy Sochan (knee) sidelined. The undrafted rookie has enjoyed an increased role in his last five games, averaging 7.8 points and 3.0 rebounds over 18.3 minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Julian Champagnie: Scores 12 against Washington
Champagnie supplied 12 points (5-8 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds and two blocks in 18 minutes during Friday's 136-124 loss to the Wizards. The Spurs had 10 players on their injury report coming into Friday's game, and we will probably see that quite a bit down the stretch as the Spurs take their foot off the gas. Champagnie has made the most of his limited minutes in recent games, hitting a total of eight triples over his last four contests.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Julian Champagnie: Scores 20 points in loss
Champagnie recorded 20 points (7-15 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, five assists and a steal across 32 minutes in Wednesday's loss to South Bay. Champagnie was one of two Austin players who reached the 20-point mark in a game during which the team looked outmatched. He's played just six games with Austin after logging 18 for Delaware earlier this season. Champagnie is averaging 17.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game with the Spurs' G-League affiliate.... Spurs' Julian Champagnie: Sent to G League
San Antonio assigned Champagnie to the G League's Austin Spurs on Friday, Ty Jager of PoundingTheRock.com reports. Champagnie, Dominick Barlow and Blake Wesley will all be available for Austin on Friday. Across 36 G League appearances this season, Champagnie is averaging 17.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 31.8 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Julian Champagnie: Scores 12 with five boards
Champagnie recorded 12 points (3-15 FG, 1-9 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, two assists and two blocks across 35 minutes in Wednesday's loss to Santa Cruz. Champagnie struggled massively from the field and finished the game with more field-goal attempts (15) than points scored (12), but he still delivered a decent stat line considering Austin lost by 21 points against the Warriors' G League affiliate. Champagnie was one of six Austin players that scored in double digits during Wednesday's loss.... See More ... See Less -
Spurs' Julian Champagnie: Headed to San Antonio
The Spurs signed Champagnie to a two-way deal on Thursday, Tom Osborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports. Champagnie will join the Spurs after being released from the 76ers on Tuesday. He averaged only 3.5 minutes across two games for Philadelphia in the NBA this season. Champagnie will join Dominick Barlow as two-way players for a rebuilding San Antonio squad.... See More ... Julian Champagnie: Cut by Sixers
The 76ers waived Champagnie on Tuesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. The undrafted rookie out of St. John's had been playing under a two-way deal for the 76ers, but Philadelphia will move on from Champagnie and hand his roster spot to second-year guard Mac McClung. Champagnie appeared in just two games for the NBA team and had seen the overwhelming share of his opportunities with the G League's Delaware Blue Coats this season. In 18 appearances for Delaware, the 6-foot-7 forward averaged 14.3 points (on 41.9 percent shooting from the field), 5.7 rebounds, 2.5 three-pointers, 1.9 assists, 0.9 blocks and 0.6 steals in 28.7 minutes per contest.... Champagnie struggled mightily with his shot but still finished in double figures. He also grabbed 11 rebounds, notching his fifth double-double of the campaign.... See More ... See Less -
