  • Pistons' James Wiseman: Operates as primary backup

Wiseman ended Monday's 126-107 loss to the Wizards with eight points (3-4 FG, 2-4 FT) and four rebounds over nine minutes. With Jalen Duren reclaiming his spot in the starting lineup, coach Monty Williams had a decision to make regarding his backup center. Marvin Bagley had clearly moved ahead of Wiseman to start the campaign, but the former didn't see any action Monday while the latter was solid in limited work. It's unclear if this was a permanent move, but either way, both Bagley and Wiseman won't have significant fantasy value as long as Duren is healthy.

  • Pistons' James Wiseman: Season-best performance

Wiseman totaled 11 points (5-6 FG, 1-2 FT), four rebounds and one assist over 14 minutes during Tuesday's 126-120 loss to the Hawks. Wiseman posted a season-high 11 points while matching his most minutes played. The 22-year-old was needed to combat the size of Atlanta's frontcourt, especially with Jalen Duren (ankle) still out. Injury woes in Detroit have not led to relevant production from Wiseman, so he remains off most fantasy radars.

  • Pistons' James Wiseman: Held scoreless against Warriors

Wiseman notched zero points (0-3 FG) and three rebounds in 11 minutes during Monday's 120-109 loss to the Warriors. Jalen Duren missed Monday's game with an ankle injury, but he's believed to be day-to-day. Wiseman is clearly out of favor in Detroit right now, as Marvin Bagley was given the bulk of Duren's minutes.

  • Pistons' James Wiseman: Will be available Monday

Wiseman (finger) is available for Monday's matchup against the Thunder. As expected, Wiseman has been upgraded from probable to available and will suit up Monday. However, the 2020 first-round pick hasn't seen any playing time through Detroit's first three regular-season games. Isaiah Stewart (35.0 minutes per game), Jalen Duren (33.3) and Marvin Bagley (14.7) have dominated the Pistons' frontcourt minutes thus far.

  • Pistons' James Wiseman: Probable Monday

Wiseman (finger) is probable for Monday's game against the Thunder due to a left digit sprain. It's unclear whether Wiseman is dealing with a finger or toe injury, but he'll likely be able to suit up against Oklahoma City. However, his status shouldn't impact the Pistons' rotation.

  • Pistons' James Wiseman: Poor outing off bench Friday

Wiseman racked up four points (2-5 FG), three rebounds, an assist and a block across 10 minutes off the bench in Friday's 114-104 preseason loss to the Mavericks. Wiseman spent the preseason battling with Marvin Bagley for the role of backup center behind Jalen Duren, but a couple of uninspiring performances made him lose ground in that race. Wiseman is expected to see limited minutes off the bench once the regular season begins next week.

  • Pistons' James Wiseman: Competing for backup minutes

Coach Monty Williams said Wednesday that Wiseman and Marvin Bagley are competing to serve as Jalen Duren's backup, Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press reports. It's no surprise that Duren will be operating as the starting center, but Williams suggested that there will likely be room in the rotation for only one of Wiseman or Bagley. Wiseman's role increased after being traded from the Warriors to the Pistons last year, as he averaged 12.7 points and 8.1 rebounds in 25.2 minutes per game over 24 appearances with Detroit, but it sounds as though he could have more trouble finding consistent playing time under his new head coach.

  • Pistons' James Wiseman: Double-doubles in summer opener

Wiseman posted 16 points (6-10 FG, 1-3 3pt, 3-6 FT), 11 rebounds, one assist and two blocks across 26 minutes of Saturday's 89-78 Summer League win over Orlando. Wiseman was dominant on the interior, grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds (four offensive) while rejecting a pair of shots and finished with a positive 20 plus-minus in the win. After attempting just 0.4 three-pointers per game last season, Wiseman spent a lot of time on the perimeter Saturday, hucking up three triples and connecting on one of them. Though the 2020 No. 2 overall pick has had a rough transition to the NBA, he's oozing with talent and should remain a key contributor for the Pistons this summer.

  • Pistons' James Wiseman: Double-doubles in finale

Wiseman ended with 11 points (4-9 FG, 3-4 FT), 12 rebounds and one block across 25 minutes during Sunday's 103-81 loss to Chicago. Wiseman notched his seventh double-double during the final game of the campaign. The 2020 first-round pick had an uptick in production following his move to Detroit and appears poised for a major role with the Pistons next season.

  • Pistons' James Wiseman: Returns to game

Wiseman (face) returned to Tuesday's game versus Indiana, Mike Curtis of The Detroit News reports. Despite exiting Tuesday's game in the first half with a facial laceration, he is good to go for the remainder of the game. He checked back into the contest with 8:35 left in the third quarter.

  • Pistons' James Wiseman: Questionable to return

Wiseman is questionable to return to Friday's game against the Pacers due to a facial laceration, according to Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press. Wiseman played only two minutes before the injury. If he's unable to return, the Pistons will need to rely heavily on Jalen Duren and Marvin Bagley.

  • Pistons' James Wiseman: Shoots well from line in loss

Wiseman posted 16 points (5-10 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 6-7 FT), three rebounds, two assists and one block across 29 minutes in Wednesday's 123-108 loss to the Nets. For the second game in a row, Pistons head coach Dwane Casey rolled out a supersized frontcourt featuring Wiseman and Jalen Duren, and though Wiseman was actually a team-best plus-6 during his time on the court, Detroit ultimately dropped its 11th straight contest and third in a row by a double-digit margin. Though Wiseman saved his night by shooting more efficiently at the free-throw line than usual, his rebound production once again suffered while playing next to Duren. Wiseman has pulled down 4.5 boards per game over his last two starts, compared to the 8.6 he averaged in his other 18 starts with Detroit when Duren either came off the bench or sat out due to injury.

  • Pistons' James Wiseman: Records double-double in loss

Wiseman provided 14 points (7-9 FG) and 11 rebounds across 29 minutes during Wednesday's 107-106 loss to the Thunder. Wiseman did most of his damage in the first half, scoring 12 of his points and grabbing seven of his boards in the first two quarters as the Pistons ultimately fought (unsuccessfully) to snap their 15-game losing streak. The third-year center now has five double-doubles in March, and his 77.8 percent shooting mark from the field marked his most efficient performance of the month.

  • Pistons' James Wiseman: Lifts offense in double-double

Wiseman had 22 points (10-13 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT) and 13 rebounds across 33 minutes during Sunday's 112-100 loss to the Heat. Wiseman picked up his third double-double in four games, leading Detroit in both points and rebounds. He was helped by Jalen Duren being limited to just nine minutes before exiting the contest with a head injury, as Wiseman and Duren had typically been part of a near-even split of the minutes at center when both have been healthy. If Duren can't gain clearance for the Pistons' next game Tuesday in Atlanta, Wiseman could once again be in store for 30-plus minutes, and likely elevated numbers to go along with it.

  • Pistons' James Wiseman: Strong showing against Wizards

Wiseman closed with 21 points (10-13 FG, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal in 34 minutes during Tuesday's 119-117 loss to Washington. Making his sixth straight start, Wiseman scored more than 20 points for the second time as a Piston while recording multiple blocks for the third straight game. The 21-year-old center is starting to flash the talent that made him the second overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, and during his starting stint, he's averaging 12.7 points, 7.8 boards, 1.2 blocks and 1.0 assists while shooting 63.5 percent from the floor.

  • Pistons' James Wiseman: Swats three shots Monday

Wiseman (knee) finished with 12 points (5-8 FG, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds and three blocks in 24 minutes in Monday's 110-104 loss to the Trail Blazers. Tagged as questionable with knee soreness heading into Monday's contest, Wiseman suited up and took on what appeared to be a fairly standard workload as the Pistons' starting center. He's now started in each of the Pistons' last five games, playing between 20 and 29 minutes in those contests while averaging 11.0 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.0 blocks while shooting 59 percent from the field. That level of production is enough to keep Wiseman on the radar in 12-team leagues for the time being. However, he will be a candidate to lose some minutes whenever both Isaiah Stewart (hip) and Jalen Duren (ankle) are available again.

  • Pistons' James Wiseman: Available to play

Wiseman (knee) will be available to play Monday against the Trail Blazers. Wiseman should see his minutes in the mid-20s Monday evening, and he'll look to bounce back from a tough 1-of-6 shooting performance with a much more advantageous matchup against Portland. He could be someone to think about rolling the dice on in deep leagues, although his play has been too inconsistent to depend on him in standard 12-team leagues.

  • Pistons' James Wiseman: Questionable Monday

Wiseman (left knee soreness) is questionable for Monday's game versus Portland. Monday's game will be the first of a back-to-back set, so Detroit may opt to give Wiseman the night off with the Pistons playing for Ping Pong balls at this point. If Wiseman is forced to join Isaiah Stewart (hip) on the sidelines, then Marvin Bagley would get all the run he could handle and Isaiah Livers would see an uptick in minutes. Stay tuned.

  • Pistons' James Wiseman: Best night yet with Detroit

Wiseman amassed 23 points (9-11 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 4-6 FT) and seven rebounds in 27 minutes during Monday's 117-106 loss to the Hornets. Making his second straight start, Wiseman had his best scoring performance yet as a member of the Pistons, and his second best of the season after the 30 he dropped on the Nets just before Christmas while still with the Warriors. Wiseman is quickly regaining the luster he'd lost over the last few seasons after being the second overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, but he'll need to stay healthy to fully shake off the bust label.

  • Pistons' James Wiseman: Making first start of season

Wiseman will join the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Raptors, Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press reports. Wiseman will draw the starting nod with Jalen Duren (ankle) sidelined. Marvin Bagley (hand) was activated for the contest after being out since Jan. 2, so it's unclear what Wiseman's role will be moving forward. However, Wiseman has averaged 9.5 points and 7.5 rebounds over 23.5 minutes in his two appearances with the Pistons and will get a chance with the first unit Saturday
