Wizards' Deni Avdija: Out again
Avdija (elbow) will remain sidelined for the Wizards' regular-season finale against the Rockets, Ava Wallace of The Washington Post reports.
With several other players sidelined along with Avdija, some combination of Anthony Gill, Xavier Cooks and Isaiah Todd figure to handle the power forward minutes Sunday. Avdija finishes his third NBA season with career marks in points (9.2), rebounds (6.4), assists (2.8) and steals (0.9), plus field-goal percentage (43.7).... See More ... See Less
Wizards' Deni Avdija: Remains out against Miami
Avdija (elbow) won't play in Friday's game versus the Heat.
Avdija will miss his third straight game Friday due to left elbow bursitis. With so many of Washington's regulars out, Anthony Gill, Xavier Cooks, Corey Kispert and Johnny Davis are all candidates to receive extended minutes. Avdija's last chance to suit up this season is Sunday's matchup with Houston.... See More ... See Less
Wizards' Deni Avdija: Will miss at least two games
Avdija has been ruled out for Tuesday's home game versus the Bucks and Wednesday's game in Atlanta due to left elbow bursitis.
After Avdija struggled from the field in both of the last two contests, Washington is electing to hold out the forward for both ends of its upcoming back-to-back set. In his absence, Anthony Gill and Xavier Cooks are candidates for more playing time, but Corey Kispert and Johnny Davis figure to garner elevated usage as well, especially with Kyle Kuzma (ankle), Kristaps Porzingis (illness), Bradley Beal (knee) and Monte Morris (ankle) already sidelined.... Wizards' Deni Avdija: Ruled out Tuesday
Avdija has been ruled out for Tuesday's matchup against Milwaukee due to left elbow bursitis.
Avdija will join Bradley Beal (knee), Kristaps Porzingis (illness), Monte Morris (ankle) and Kyle Kuzma (ankle) on the sidelines for the first half of a back-to-back set. Avdija's status for Wednesday's game in Atlanta remains unclear, but he can be considered questionable at best. In his absence, Corey Kispert, Johnny Davis, Anthony Gill and Xavier Cooks are all candidates for increased roles.... See More ... See Less
Wizards' Deni Avdija: Hot streak ends
Avdija chipped in six points (2-14 FG, 0-6 3Pt, 2-3 FT), six rebounds and four assists across 32 minutes during Friday's 116-109 loss to the Magic.
Avdija came crashing down to earth Friday after averaging 18.4 points, 9.6 rebounds and 5.4 assists in his last five appearances. The 22-year-old went ice cold from the field, missing 12 of his 14 field goal attempts and all six of his tries from deep. However, he still managed to put up sufficient rebound and assist numbers despite the off shooting night. With Kyle Kuzma (ankle) and Bradley Beal (knee) still sidelined, Avdija can offer plenty of value to fantasy managers over the closing week of the season.... See More ... See Less
Wizards' Deni Avdija: Strong run continues
Avdija logged 25 points (10-16 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 3-5 FT), 10 rebounds, five assists and one steal in 37 minutes during Tuesday's 130-111 win over the Celtics.
The third-year forward has taken full advantage of the opportunity presented to him when Kyle Kuzma (ankle) got hurt. In the five games Kuzma has missed so far, Avdija is averaging 18.4 points, 9.6 boards, 5.4 assists, 2.0 threes and 1.0 steals while playing 34.2 minutes a night and shooting 63.8 percent from the floor and 47.6 percent from long distance. Kuzma could return at any time, especially with the Wizards still alive for a spot in the play-in tournament, but Avdija is finally beginning to show the talent that made him the ninth overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.... Wizards' Deni Avdija: Dominates against Spurs
Avdija racked up 21 points (9-14 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 0-1 FT), 11 rebounds, six assists and one steal over 34 minutes during Friday's 136-124 win over the Spurs.
Bradley Beal (knee) and Kyle Kuzma (ankle) sitting out has opened a ton of usage for Avdija, and he's certainly making the most of his opportunity. He has two double-doubles over his last three games, averaging 17.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 2.3 three-pointers in that span.... See More ... See Less
Wizards' Deni Avdija: Shines in move to starting lineup
Avdija registered 16 points (7-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), eight rebounds and six assists in 32 minutes during Wednesday's 118-104 loss to Denver.
With Bradley Beal (knee) and Kyle Kuzma (ankle) out, Avdija made his first start of the month. The 22-year-old put up an impressive stat line, leading the Wizards in rebounds and assists. Over the last three games, Avdija is averaging 9.7 rebounds, and If Beal and Kuzma miss more time, Avdija could start complementing the boards production with more offense. He has played at least 30 minutes and scored 15 points or more in the last two games.... See More ... See Less

Wizards' Deni Avdija: Double-double off bench
Avdija racked up 15 points (5-6 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals across 34 minutes off the bench during Tuesday's 122-112 loss to Orlando.
With Kyle Kuzma (ankle) sidelined, Avdija saw his biggest workload in over a month and turned it into his ninth double-double of the season. The third-year forward remains inconsistent -- he's scored in double digits only three times in 11 games so far in March -- but with Kuzma potentially out for a while, Avdija could have some short-term fantasy value.... Wizards' Deni Avdija: Grabs 11 rebounds in loss
Avdija supplied three points (1-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt), 11 rebounds, six assists and one steal over 28 minutes during Saturday's 132-118 loss to the Kings.
Avdija didn't have a good shooting performance and was woeful from the field, but he somewhat salvaged his fantasy day with numbers in other categories such as rebounds and assists. He's averaging 5.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game in March.... See More ... See Less
Wizards' Deni Avdija: Held to two points
Avdija racked up two points (0-3 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-4 FT), one rebound and three assists over 18 minutes during Friday's 117-94 loss to Cleveland.
This might be rock bottom for Avdija. Kyle Kuzma returned from a knee issue, which resulted in fewer minutes for Avdija, but he's been quiet for several weeks. Over his last six games, Avdija has scored in double digits just one time and he has a total of zero blocks and steals in that stretch.... See More ... See Less
Wizards' Deni Avdija: Shooting woes persist
Avdija accumulated two points (1-6 FG, 0-3 3Pt), eight rebounds and three assists across 23 minutes during Wednesday's 122-120 loss to Atlanta.
Avdija is an inconsistent offensive performer, and he's amid an icy stretch. Over the past 11 games, he's averaged just 6.7 points on 37.7 percent shooting from the field and 21.4 percent from deep. His 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 0.9 steals are helping to salvage some fantasy value, but fantasy managers should temper expectations.... See More ... See Less
Wizards' Deni Avdija: Bounces back in loss
Avdija closed with 17 points (5-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 5-5 FT), six rebounds, two assists and three steals across 31 minutes during Sunday's 117-111 loss to the Bucks.
Avdija turned in a strong all-around performance and put together his best scoring night since Feb. 8. He shot with efficiency from the field, hitting 50.0 percent of his tries, and snagged two of his six rebounds on the offensive end. Avdija has struggled to show much consistency from a scoring standpoint, as he's tallied double figures in only one of his last five appearances.... See More ... See Less
Wizards' Deni Avdija: Available to play
Avdija (illness) will be available to play Sunday against the Bucks.
Avdija only lasted seven minutes on Saturday, but he'll try and gut it out again and get out there for the second night of the back-to-back set. He should see closer to his usual minutes Sunday, but he's a risky fantasy target with a tough matchup versus Milwaukee.... See More ... See Less
Wizards' Deni Avdija: Questionable for Sunday
Avdija (illness) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Bucks.
Avdija logged just seven minutes Saturday against the Raptors, and it remains to be seen if he'll recover in time to feature against Milwaukee. Given he exited Saturday's contest due to gastroenteritis, fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if the forward ends up being ruled out. Anthony Gill could see more minutes in that case.... Wizards' Deni Avdija: Won't return Saturday
Avdija (illness) will not return to Saturday's game against the Raptors. He finished with zero points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and two rebounds in seven minutes.
Avdija exited early due to gastroenteritis, and with the Wizards playing again Sunday against the Bucks, fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if the forward is out for that game. If that's the case, more minutes are likely available for Anthony Gill.... See More ... See Less
