  • Cavaliers' Evan Mobley: Sprains ankle

Mobley is out one-to-two weeks with a sprained ankle, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

After an impressive rookie season, the young forward's second year is off to a slight hitch after Mobley sprained his ankle Monday. Kevin Love, Isaiah Mobley and Dean Wade appear in line for more preseason opportunities with the USC product on the sidelines. The Cavaliers make their regular-season debut on Oct. 19 against the Raptors.

  • Cavaliers' Dylan Windler: In mix for starting job

Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff lauded Windler's play since returning to the club after Labor Day and suggested he's among the candidates to start at small forward to open 2022-23, Evan Dammarell of SBNation.com reports.

Windler spent some of last season in the G League and averaged under 10 minutes per game with the parent club, but it appears he's made huge strides this offseason and could challenge for a starting gig. Even if he claims a spot, the upgraded Cavs have numerous options ahead of him in the pecking order for usage. Still, it would mean a sizable jump in minutes, and he could creep onto the fantasy radar in some formats.

  • Cavaliers' Ricky Rubio: Return timetable unclear

Rubio (knee) said at a press conference Monday that he'll "hopefully" return sometime in December, but he ended by adding "who knows," Marla Ridenour of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Rubio said he feels "really good" and is entering the training phase of his recovery, but he remains without a firm return timeline. The veteran point guard tore his ACL at the end of December last year while playing for the Cavaliers, but he was traded to the Pacers later in the season before returning to Cleveland this offseason. When available, he figures to garner a backup role behind Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell.

  • Cavaliers' Dean Wade: Inks three-year extension

Wade agreed to a three-year, $18.5 million extension with the Cavaliers on Saturday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Wade played 51 games for the Cavaliers in 2021 and averaged 5.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.6 steals in 19.2 minutes. He has also proved to be a reliable three-point shooter. He's shot 36.6 percent and 35.9 percent from deep over the last two seasons. Wade is still somewhat buried in Cleveland's depth chart, but he can be expected to play around 20 minutes per game off the bench again this season.

Iwundu signed a training camp contract with the Trail Blazers on Friday, Aaron J. Fentress of The Oregonian reports.

  • Cavaliers' Nate Hinton: Inks Exhibit 10 deal

The Cavaliers signed Hinton to an Exhibit 10 deal Monday, Sam Amico of FortyEightMinutes.com reports.

Hinton appeared in 21 NBA games with Dallas as a rookie during the 2020-21 season and played in two contests with the Pacers last year, but he never garnered a substantial role. However, he did light it up while playing for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the G League during the 2021-22 campaign. The third-year forward averaged 18.1 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.2 steals while shooting 45.9 percent from the field and 38.0 percent from three as a sophomore. Hinton will likely be a longshot to make the Cavaliers' initial roster, but he could land a two-way deal with a strong training camp.
