Lakers' Wenyen Gabriel: Out at least one week
Gabriel (shoulder) will be re-evaluated in approximately one week and will miss at least the Lakers' next four games, Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com reports.
Gabriel may have suffered his sprained left shoulder during the Lakers' win over the Wizards on Sunday, when he was limited to nine minutes. The 25-year-old has been a rotation player for the Lakers this season, but his playing time has dropped down of late following the recent return of LeBron James from a five-game absence.... Lakers' Wenyen Gabriel: Won't play Tuesday
Gabriel (shoulder) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against Cleveland, Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com reports.
Gabriel will miss his first game since Oct. 23 due to a shoulder injury. He's averaging 13.6 minutes off the bench this season, so his absence will likely open room for Juan Toscano-Anderson and/or Troy Brown to garner slightly increased roles.... See More ... See Less
Lakers' LeBron James: Probable Tuesday
James (ankle) is probable for Tuesday's contest against the Cavaliers, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports.
James continues to deal with ankle soreness, but the 37-year-old has appeared in six straight games and should be all clear to take the floor against his hometown team Tuesday. In his first six games since returning from his initial adductor injury, James is averaging 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.3 steals across 34.5 minutes per game.... See More ... Lakers' Anthony Davis: Likely to play Tuesday
Davis (back) is probable for Tuesday's game against Cleveland, Harrison Faigen of SBNation.com reports.
Davis continues to deal with low back tightness but has played through the issue over the last four games. The 29-year-old is in the midst of a dominant stretch in which he's posted 10 consecutive double-doubles. He was especially productive over the weekend, as he posted 44 points Friday against the Bucks before dropping 55 points against Washington on Sunday.... See More ... See Less
Lakers' Wenyen Gabriel: Questionable Tuesday
Gabriel is questionable for Tuesday's contest against the Cavaliers with left shoulder soreness, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports.
The Kentucky product has appeared in 19 consecutive games for the Lakers but is questionable for Tuesday's contest against the Cavaliers. If Gabriel is forced to sit out, his next chance to return comes Wednesday in Toronto.... See More ... See Less
Lakers' Max Christie: Moves to G League
The Lakers assigned Christie to the G League's South Bay Lakers on Monday, Harrison Faigen of SBNation.com reports.
Los Angeles is as healthy as its been at any point this season, lessening the need for the team to keep Christie around as bench depth while it remains in the midst of a six-game road trip. The rookie second-round pick out of Michigan State was excluded from the rotation in the first two contests of the trip, so he'll head to the G League to pick up some meaningful minutes.... Lakers' Russell Westbrook: Logs 15 assists off bench
Westbrook closed Sunday's 130-119 victory over the Wizards with six points (3-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt), 15 assists and seven rebounds over 29 minutes.
Westbrook couldn't get anything going in terms of scoring but established a new season high in assists in the win. Though he's been able to adjust from the move to the starting five to a sixth-man role, Westbrook's poor shooting efficiency continues to drag down his overall value in rotisserie leagues. He remains a viable 12-team asset, although his dwindling contributions across the board are beginning to move him into the streaming discussion.... See More ... See Less
Lakers' Dennis Schroder: Eight helpers in start Sunday
Schroder supplied four points (2-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt), two rebounds, eight assists and two steals across 30 minutes during Sunday's 130-119 win over the Wizards.
Schroder was a non-factor on the offensive end but did manage to deliver eight assists for anyone who streamed him in. While this isn't the most inspiring fantasy line, the 30 minutes are encouraging, especially given the Lakers were at full strength. It appears as though they are going to run with him as a starter for the foreseeable future, meaning he could have some back-end value for anyone in need of dimes.... See More ... See Less
Lakers' Anthony Davis: Bulldozes Wizards with 55 points
Davis chipped in 55 points (22-30 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 9-9 FT), 17 rebounds, three blocks and one assist across 38 minutes during Sunday's 130-119 victory over Washington.
Davis kicked off the Lakers' ongoing six-game road trip with perhaps the best weekend of his career, as his season-high 55-point scoring effort against Washington was preceded by a 44-point, 10-rebound, three-block outing against the Bucks on Friday. The Lakers have now won eight of their last 10 games on the back of Davis and his dazzling form. While Davis has delivered performances on this level during his peak years in New Orleans, his recent play is a welcome sight coming off back-to-back injury-riddled campaigns with Los Angeles.... Lakers' Troy Brown: Not starting Sunday
Brown will come off the bench Sunday against Washington.
Brown has been a regular starter for most of the season, but the Lakers will mix things up and go with a smaller lineup Sunday featuring all three of Patrick Beverley, Dennis Schroder and Lonnie Walker. Brown hasn't been overly effective of late, averaging just 5.4 points on 44.4 percent shooting (33.3% 3Pt) over his last nine starts.... See More ... See Less
Lakers' Anthony Davis: Available Sunday
Davis (back) is available for Sunday's game against the Wizards, Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com reports.
It isn't very surprising to see Davis available Sunday since he was listed as probable on the Lakers' injury report. Over his last three appearances, he's averaged 32.0 points, 11.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 35.0 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less
Lakers' LeBron James: Cleared to play Sunday
James (ankle) will be available for Sunday's game at Washington, Ryan Ward of Lakers Nation reports.
The Lakers will likely continue to list James as questionable on a game-to-game basis going forward, as has been the case for most of the last two-plus years. While the veteran has missed six contests already this season, Sunday will mark his sixth consecutive start since returning from an adductor issue. Over his last four games, including Friday's win over Milwaukee, James is posting 29.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 52.8 percent from deep.... See More ... Lakers' Dennis Schroder: Starting Sunday
Schroder (personal) is available for Sunday's game against the Wizards and will be in the starting lineup, Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet reports.
The 29-year-old missed Friday's matchup with Milwaukee for the birth of his son but is back with the team Sunday and will start in his fifth straight appearance. Schroder has averaged 11.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 29.8 minutes during that stretch.... See More ... See Less
