The Green Bay Packers are retaining one of their breakout players from the 2021 season.

According to multiple reports, cornerback Rasul Douglas has agreed to a three-year, $21 million contract to remain with the team. The deal can be worth as much as $25.5 million with incentives.

Douglas was a waiver-wive success story last season. After spending the first few seasons of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers, Douglas signed a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders last offseason, only to be released during training camp. He caught on with the Houston Texans a few days later, but was released within a week. He was signed to the Arizona Cardinals' practice squad in early September, remaining with the team until Green Bay signed him to a deal a month later in the wake of multiple injuries in the secondary.

Douglas spent the first couple games of his Packers tenure as a rotational player before being inserted into the starting lineup in favor of Isaac Yiadom. It all took off from there, with Douglas playing excellent football and finishing the season with five interceptions (two of which resulted in touchdowns) in 12 games.

Now, he should join Jaire Alexander and 2021 first-round pick Eric Stokes to give the Packers a solid three-man cornerback rotation. And he gets a significant raise to stick around with the team for which he has played his best football.
