Panthers defensive end Charles Johnson (hamstring) has been placed on injured reserve/designated to return. Johnson was already expected to miss multiple games, and he can now officially be ruled out until Week 12.
Although it's still a huge loss for the Carolina defense, the Panthers did trade for fellow defensive end Jared Allen to mitigate the impact of Johnson's absence. Allen's name may carry more weight, but Johnson is the far superior player at this stage of their respective careers.
