Saints coach Sean Payton was not happy with his defense's pass-rush effort in a Week 1 loss to the Cardinals.

"It wasn't good enough, it wasn't good enough," Payton said, per NOLA.com.

Cameron Jordan pressured quarterback Carson Palmer several times, but the Saints were unable to record a sack.

"We had some hurries and some pressures, but obviously when a quarterback can have that kind of time, the very first touchdown, the quarterback, Carson Palmer, flushes to the right, and if you count and you watch, and you watch, and you watch, that wasn't like five Mississippi, that was like nine," Payton said.

"So that's hard to play back-end defense if we can't get to that player kicker and not give him that type of time. There were positive signs and signs that get you encouraged and yet we've got to be better."
