  • Jets' Randall Cobb: Signing with New York official

The Jets officially signed Cobb (ankle) to a one-year contract Wednesday, Randy Lange of the team's official site reports. Aaron Rodgers now has a pair of familiar faces in New York's receiving corps in the form of Cobb and Allen Lazard as the quarterback makes his transition from Green Bay. In addition to reuniting with Rodgers, Cobb will also join one of his former offensive coordinators in Green Bay in Nathaniel Hackett. Cobb is coming off a 2022 campaign in which he put together a 34-417-1 receiving line on 50 targets in 13 games. Cobb currently is in recovery mode from offseason ankle surgery, but his experience with Rodgers should allow him to hit the ground running once he's back to full health.

  • Randall Cobb: Expected to reunite with Rodgers

The Jets are expected to sign Cobb (ankle) to a one-year contract Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Cobb won't have an easy path to playing time while the Jets have all of Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard, Corey Davis and Mecole Hardman on hand at receiver, but his addition could be an indication that New York envisions more changes to come to the receiving room. Davis, in particular, has been regularly mentioned in trade rumors this offseason. Cobb is coming off ankle surgery, but his familiarity with Rodgers means he shouldn't require as many practice reps to acclimate to a depth role in the Jets offense.

  • Packers' Randall Cobb: Undergoes ankle surgery

Cobb recently underwent ankle surgery, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports. The surgery was to "clean out the back of his ankle," according to Rapoport. The 32-year-old Cobb caught 34 passes for 417 yards and one touchdown on 50 targets across 13 games for the Packers last season. He's scheduled to be a free agent later this month. It's unclear at this point if Cobb plans to keep playing in 2023.

  • Packers' Randall Cobb: Fades during 2022 campaign

Cobb was targeted 50 times and caught 34 passes for 417 yards and a touchdown over 13 appearances during the 2022 campaign. Cobb drew more looks than he did in each of the previous two seasons, but due to an ankle injury and some younger receivers on the roster emerging, the 12-year veteran recorded only 25 targets and 168 yards after Week 5. Cobb could return to Green Bay if quarterback Aaron Rodgers does, but if Rodgers goes, Cobb likely will, too.

  • Packers' Randall Cobb: Catches two passes in Week 17

Cobb was targeted twice and caught two passes for 20 yards in Sunday's 41-17 victory over the Vikings. Cobb played nearly 50 percent of the snaps for the fourth time in five weeks, but he drew only two passes in his direction for a second straight game. Assuming the Packers have all their receivers available for next week's regular-season finale against the Lions, he figures to remain in a part-time role.

  • Packers' Randall Cobb: Records one reception in win

Cobb was targeted twice and caught one pass for five yards in Sunday's 26-20 victory over the Dolphins. He also returned one punt for two yards. Cobb was credited with a Week 16 start, but he played fewer than half the snaps for a fourth week in a row and saw only two passes thrown in his direction. He will have a plus matchup in Week 17 against a Vikings team that has allowed wideouts to rack up at least 243 yards four times over the last five weeks, but Cobb has totaled jut six receptions, 56 yards and a score over his last four appearances, so his prospects will not be particularly promising, even if Christian Watson -- who left Sunday's game with a hip injury -- is unable to go.

  • Packers' Randall Cobb: Retains slot role in win

Cobb caught three of four targets for 32 yards in Monday's 24-12 win over the Rams. Cobb maintained his slot role despite the return of Romeo Doubs (ankle), garnering four targets for the third consecutive game. Allen Lazard (one catch for seven yards) was the player who took the big hit in usage following the rookie wideout's return. Cobb still doesn't provide enough upside to warrant consideration in standard formats ahead of Sunday's tilt against Miami.

  • Packers' Randall Cobb: Shut out in Week 13

Cobb was targeted four times but did not catch a pass in Sunday's 28-19 victory over the Bears. He also returned one punt for 15 yards in the game. Cobb finished fourth among Packers skill players in targets and third among Packers wideouts in snaps, but he was held without a reception for the first time in nine appearances this season. He's had a few fantasy-friendly games this season, but it will be tough for him to have another, as not only will he be behind Christian Watson and Allen Lazard when the Packers return from their Week 14 bye, but likely Romeo Doubs (ankle) as well.

  • Packers' Randall Cobb: Records first 2022 touchdown

Cobb was targeted four times and caught two passes for 19 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 40-33 loss to the Eagles. Cobb did not do much in the receptions or receiving yards columns, but he did reach the end zone for the first time in eight 2022 appearances. He has finished third in snaps among Packers wideouts in two games since returning from a four-game absence, but he could slip further down the depth chart if Romeo Doubs (ankle) returns in Week 13, as Green Bay could maximize the rookie's snaps with the team's playoff hopes fading fast.

  • Packers' Randall Cobb: Shakes off illness

Cobb (illness) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game at Philadelphia. For the third day in a row, Cobb's practice reps were capped while he continued to battle the ailment, but he must have shown enough progress as the week went along for the Packers to sign off on him playing Sunday. The fact that Cobb appeared on the Packers' Week 12 injury report with only the illness attached to his name is at least a sign that he avoided any setbacks with his right ankle in his return to action in the team's Week 11 loss to the Titans. The Packers didn't bother easing Cobb back in with a light role against Tennessee, as he played a healthy 56 percent of the snaps of offense and finished with six receptions for 73 yards on six targets in his return from a four-game absence.

  • Packers' Randall Cobb: Another limited listing

Cobb (illness) was listed as limited on Thursday's injury report. Cobb's health concern is an ailment as opposed to an injury, which so far has capped his on-field reps during Week 12 prep. Assuming he's able to put the illness behind him for Sunday's road matchup with the Eagles -- be it on Friday's report or upon the release of inactives about 90 minutes before an 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff -- he again will be an option at wide receiver for Aaron Rodgers.

  • Packers' Randall Cobb: Dealing with illness

Cobb was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice due to an illness. After a recent stint on injured reserve due to a high-ankle sprain, Cobb mixed back in to the Packers offense during last Thursday's loss to the Titans, gathering in all six targets for 73 yards. An illness is affecting his practice reps to kick off Week 12 prep, but he at least has two more opportunities to log a full session and clear himself ahead of Sunday's game in Philadelphia.

  • Packers' Randall Cobb: Back from injured reserve

The Packers activated Cobb (ankle) from injured reserve Thursday. Cobb will miss the minimum four games on IR following the high right-ankle sprain that he suffered back in Week 6. He'll rejoin a Packers receiving corps that is down rookie Romeo Doubs due to his own high-ankle sprain, which will leave Allen Lazard, Christian Watson, Cobb and Sammy Watkins as the top four wideouts available to quarterback Aaron Rodgers. In six games this season, Cobb has gathered in 18 of 26 targets for 257 yards, but he's still in search of his first TD connection with Rodgers.

  • Packers' Randall Cobb: Likely to be activated Week 11

The Packers plan to activate Cobb (ankle) from injured reserve ahead of Thursday's game against the Titans, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Even though Cobb wasn't cleared to resume practicing until Tuesday, the Packers appear comfortable enough with what they saw from the veteran slot man is his workouts the past two days to clear him for his first game action since he suffered a right high-ankle sprain Week 6. Because he's missed the past month and only recently resumed practicing, Cobb could be eased back into the mix with a lighter snap count than usual, even while Green Bay remains without one if its top receivers in Romeo Doubs (ankle). In his six outings on the season, Cobb has recorded 18 receptions for 257 yards and zero touchdowns on 26 targets.

  • Packers' Randall Cobb: Back at practice

The Packers designated Cobb (ankle) for return from injured reserve Tuesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports. The transaction confirms that Cobb was cleared to participate in Green Bay's practice Tuesday, though the extent of his activity isn't known after he sat out each of the team's last four games with a right ankle sprain. According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Monday that Cobb is being treated as day-to-day and could be an option to return to the 53-man roster to play in Week 11, even though Green Bay faces a quick turnaround for a Thursday night matchup with the Titans. The Packers will presumably wait and see how Cobb checks out following their practice Wednesday before deciding whether to add him to the roster by Thursday's 4 p.m. EST deadline. If cleared to play, Cobb should immediately step back into his role as the primary slot receiver.

  • Packers' Randall Cobb: Could play Thursday

Per coach Matt LaFleur, Cobb (ankle) is considered day-to-day and could come off injured reserve before Thursday's game against the Titans, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Cobb was given a 2-to-6-week return timeline prior to being placed on injured reserve Oct. 22. If his recovery fell on the shorter end of that projection, then Cobb should indeed be healthy enough to suit up Thursday, though the team would first have to designate him to return from IR.

  • Packers' Randall Cobb: Placed on IR

Cobb (ankle) has officially been placed on the Packers' injured reserve. No surprise here, as Cobb was expected to be sidelined for 2-to-6 weeks with an ankle injury. He will be eligible to return in four weeks. Sammy Watkins (hamstring) is returning from injured reserve and is expected to see a healthy workload alongside Allen Lazard and Romeo Doubs.

  • Packers' Randall Cobb: Expecting absence of 2-to-6 weeks

Cobb (ankle) said Friday that he expects to miss 2-to-6 weeks, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports. Cobb said it's the same injury he suffered in late 2016, noting that he scored three TDs in a playoff game against the Giants his first week back. Six years later, his reduced role in the Green Bay offense makes that sort of performance highly unlikely, though Cobb did see 13 targets Week 5 (against the Giants, coincidentally) after getting four or fewer in each of his first four games. He'll now miss multiple games, starting with a Week 7 contest in Washington. With Christian Watson (hamstring) also out and Sammy Watkins (hamstring, PUP list) uncertain, the Packers may turn to Amari Rodgers as their No. 3 receiver.

  • Packers' Randall Cobb: Expected to miss 2-to-4 weeks

Cobb was diagnosed with a right ankle sprain after exiting Sunday's loss to the Jets and is expected to miss 2-to-4 weeks, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Though Cobb will end up missing time due to the ankle issue, the veteran wideout at least avoided a longer-term setback after he was carted off the field Sunday. Operating without Cobb for the foreseeable future could prove significant for Green Bay's struggling offense, which has Sammy Watkins (hamstring) on injured reserve and Christian Watson (hamstring) also working to get healthy. Juwann Winfree and Amari Rodgers become candidates for increased snaps behind Allen Lazard and Romeo Doubs.

  • Packers' Randall Cobb: Set to miss some time

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Monday that Cobb (ankle) is going to be out a while but added the veteran wideout avoided a serious injury, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. The extent of the situation remains unclear, but Silverstein suggests that Cobb likely will join fellow wideout Sammy Watkins on IR. Rookie second-round pick Christian Watson (hamstring) also continues to deal with injury, leaving Allen Lazard, Romeo Doubs, Juwann Winfree and Amari Rodgers as Aaron Rodgers' top wideouts.
