Player Outlook
Crowder signed with the Giants this offseason, and he's expected to be a reserve receiver if he makes the final roster. He's not worth drafting in the majority of leagues. A fractured ankle limited Crowder to just four games with the Bills in 2022, during which time he recorded six catches for 60 yards. Now that he's presumably past his ankle issues, the 29-year-old will have a chance to compete for slot snaps in the Giants' wide receiver corps. However, the Giants have a lot of bodies to compete with, including Isaiah Hodgins, Darius Slayton, Parris Campbell, Jalin Hyatt, Sterling Shepard and Wan'Dale Robinson. If Crowder can outplay those other receivers maybe he'll be worth adding off the waiver wire.

  • Commanders' Jamison Crowder: Joining active roster

The Commanders plan to sign Crowder to their active roster, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports. Crowder just joined the Commanders' practice squad Wednesday, but with Dax Milne (groin) unable to play Sunday against the Cardinals, the veteran receiver was elevated to the active roster Saturday. He never saw the field on offense, but he did handle punt return duties, gaining 10 yards on three attempts. Now that he's in line to join the 53-man roster, he should maintain that role Sunday against the Broncos.

  • Commanders' Jamison Crowder: Moves to active roster

Crowder was elevated from the Commanders' practice squad Saturday. The veteran wideout is expected to return punts Sunday, with Dax Milne (groin) on injured reserve. Crowder played in just four games with the Bills last season and bounced around a few practice squads before joining the Commanders after preseason cutdowns.

  • Giants' Jamison Crowder: Expected to be gone

The Giants are planning to release Crowder on Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Crowder hasn't had much luck since departing the Jets, where he was a steady producer for several years. After a broken ankle limited him to just four games with the Bills in 2022, he has spent a portion of the 2023 training camp with the Giants limited by a calf injury. Assuming he does end up being released, the veteran wideout will likely work to pursue a new opportunity.

  • Giants' Jamison Crowder: Cleared for camp

Crowder (calf) will come off the active/non-football injury list Sunday according to head coach Brian Daboll, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports. Crowder started camp on the NFI list, but he'll now be able to practice with the team. After an injury-plagued 2022 season in Buffalo during which he was limited to four games, Crowder will work to earn a role in the Giants' receiving corps and put together a bounce-back campaign.

  • Giants' Jamison Crowder: Starts camp on NFI

The Giants placed Crowder (calf) on the active/non-football injury list Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. This would seem to suggest Crowder injured his calf while away from the team sometime between spring work and the start of training camp. He can be activated at any time. Crowder broke his ankle in Week 4 of last season with the Bills and missed the rest of the year. He inked a one-year deal with the Giants in the offseason and isn't guaranteed a roster spot, so the veteran slot man needs to get healthy.

  • Giants' Jamison Crowder: Signing with Giants

Crowder is slated to sign a one-year deal with the Giants, per Josina Anderson of CBS Sports. A fractured ankle limited Crowder to just four regular-season games with the Bills in 2022, during which time he recorded six catches for 60 yards. Now that he's presumably past his ankle issues, the 29-year-old will have a chance to compete for slot snaps in the Giants' wide receiver corps.

  • Bills' Jamison Crowder: Injury-plagued season

Crowder was limited to just four regular-season games in 2022 due to a fractured ankle, finishing his first season with the Bills with just six catches for 60 yards and no scores. Crowder was supposed to fill the slot job for the Bills after Cole Beasley was not brought back, but the former's injury derailed those plans, and Isaiah McKenzie ended up filling the role for most of the season before Beasley returned for the stretch run and ended up being an integral part of the offense again in the postseason. Crowder was on a one-year deal, so he's no sure thing to return even though he seemed to be getting close to full health by the time the Bills reached the playoffs.

  • Bills' Jamison Crowder: Won't face Bengals

Head coach Sean McDermott said Friday that Crowder (ankle) is ruled out for Sunday's divisional-round matchup against Cincinnati, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports. McDermott said Crowder is moving in the right direction, but the veteran wideout still will need a bit more time before making his potential return. Crowder resumed practicing last week, just over three months after he suffered a fractured ankle in a Week 4 win. With Isaiah McKenzie having resumed practicing in full, however, the Bills aren't in serious need of additional receiver depth.

  • Bills' Jamison Crowder: Status for divisional round TBD

Head coach Sean McDermott said Monday that he doesn't know if Crowder (ankle) will be available for Sunday's divisional-round matchup against Cincinnati, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports. Crowder was designated to return from injured reserve and practiced last week, but he wasn't added to the active roster ahead of the Bills' wild-card win over Miami. The veteran slot wideout hasn't played since Week 4 due to an ankle fracture, but it appears he's getting close to game action and will have a chance to play in the second round of the playoffs if he can impress at practice, which could be a boost given Isaiah McKenzie's (hamstring) status also is unclear. It's worth noting Cole Beasley proved to be a valuable weapon in the slot during Sunday's close win.

  • Bills' Jamison Crowder: Rehabbing to side in practices

Crowder (ankle) has been working off to the side during recent Bills practices but has yet to be designated for return from injured reserve, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports. Though he's been sidelined since early October with a fractured ankle, Crowder hasn't been shut down for the season and is still eying a return to the field in late December. The veteran wideout thus looks on track to remain out for the Bills' Week 15 game against the Dolphins, though a return at some point during the final three weeks of the season remains feasible. Buffalo added some potential competition for Crowder and Isaiah McKenzie in the slot role earlier Tuesday, when the Bills coaxed Cole Beasley out of retirement and signed him to their practice squad.

  • Bills' Jamison Crowder: May return before season's end

Crowder (ankle) said this week that he's targeting a return to action in late December, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports. "It's just all about how I'm feeling at that point and how well the rehab has gone," Crowder noted. Crowder has been sidelined since breaking his ankle Week 4, which required surgery to insert a plate. He's since been able to resume walking a little less than a month ago and also running on an underwater treadmill for the past two weeks. The next step for Crowder is upgrading to running on an anti-gravity treadmill, with the aim to begin jogging on the field in about "two weeks." The Bills are unlikely to rush him back on the field, especially if they end up landing free-agent wideout Odell Beckham (knee) and otherwise don't suffer any additional losses in the receiving corps. In the end, though, Crowder may make a late-season cameo with a long playoff run potentially on the horizon.

  • Bills' Jamison Crowder: Shifts to IR

Crowder (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Matt Parrino of The Syracuse Post-Standard reports. This doesn't come as much of a surprise considering Crowder broke his ankle. Isaiah McKenzie (concussion) figures to be the biggest beneficiary of the injury provided he's able to play Sunday, but rookie Khalil Shakir could also make an emergence with more opportunities likely on the horizon.

  • Bills' Jamison Crowder: Suffers broken ankle

Crowder suffered a broken ankle during Sunday's win over the Ravens, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Crowder is considered out indefinitely, and he's likely to land on IR in the near future. As long as Crowder remains out of the lineup, Isaiah McKenzie will stand to operate as Buffalo's clear third wideout behind Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, while Khalil Shakir could also benefit form increased snaps. Crowder is expected to undergo further tests to diagnose any additional damage.

  • Bills' Jamison Crowder: Injures ankle

Crowder was forced out of Sunday's game against the Ravens with an ankle injury. Prior to his exit from the contest, Crowder caught one of his four targets for seven yards. In his absence, the Bills' Week 4 wide receiver corps will continue to be led by Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis and Isaiah McKenzie.

  • Bills' Jamison Crowder: Quiet in blowout win

Crowder caught one of two targets for 16 yards while racking up 41 punt return yards in Monday's 41-7 win over the Titans. Crowder was quiet in the offensive explosion for the Bills on Monday, failing to capitalize on the absence of Gabe Davis (ankle) in the contest. Through two games, Crowder has garnered a meager six targets and doesn't appear to be filling the same role Cole Beasley did in Buffalo's offense last season. The wide receiver will look to become more involved in Week 3 when the team takes on the Dolphins, who allowed 318 yards in the air to the Ravens last week.

  • Bills' Jamison Crowder: In the mix for slot snaps

As the upcoming season approaches, Crowder is listed behind Isaiah McKenzie on the Bills' posted unofficial depth chart. Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis are the team's clear-cut top options out wide, but the slot role previously handled by Cole Beasley figures to be largely handled by some combo of McKenzie and Crowder. With McKenzie having been touted this summer as the favorite to claim the biggest portion of the team's slot assignment, Crowder may not have a path to steady targets out the gate this season, but if injuries hit the Bills' receiving corps, the 29-year-old could well find himself back on the PPR radar.

  • Bills' Jamison Crowder: Targeted once in preseason opener

Crowder was targeted once but did not record a reception in Saturday's 27-24 preseason win over the Colts. Crowder had a relatively prominent role in the game with Stefon Diggs, Gabriel Davis and Isaiah McKenzie all held out of the game. Crowder's lone target was picked off, an inauspicious start to his tenure with Buffalo. It also appears that Crowder is buried on the depth chart, so he may not be on the field regularly in Week 1, and we suppose he has an outside chance of getting cut.

  • Bills' Jamison Crowder: Has good practice Monday

Crowder turned in a strong showing at Monday's practice, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports. Crowder and Isaiah McKenzie -- who missed Monday's session due to soreness -- are in the mix to claim the slot role previously handled by Cole Beasley. While Buscaglia suggests that Crowder "is still likely behind McKenzie because of the Bills' explosive potential with McKenzie in the lineup," we suspect that the steady Crowder still can make a push for the role as the summer rolls along if he can stay healthy and continue to make plays in practice.

  • Bills' Jamison Crowder: Returning to practice

Crowder, who had been dealing with what coach Sean McDermott referred to as "soreness" and "tightness," will practice Monday, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports. Now that Crowder is in line to resume practicing, he'll look to secure a role in the Bills' wide receiver corps, which is slated to feature Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis out wide, with Crowder and Isaiah McKenzie in the mix to handle slot duties and 2022 fifth-rounder Khalil Shakir also contending for snaps.

  • Bills' Jamison Crowder: Joining forces with Buffalo

The Bills and Crowder agreed to a one-year contract Monday, Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reports. Buffalo has found its replacement at slot receiver after cutting loose Cole Beasley last week. Crowder had a down year for his standards in 2021, missing five games due to injury and finishing with a 51-447-2 line on 71 targets. With the upgrade in quarterback from Zach Wilson to Josh Allen, Crowder could be in line for a rebound as he joins forces with Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis at wide receiver.
