Player Outlook
We like Lockett as a No. 3 receiver worth a pick in Round 7 this year. Once again, he'll probably beat our expectations. The 31-year-old has new target competition in Jaxon Smith-Njigba, but he also has four consecutive years with at least 1,000 yards and five straight years with eight or more touchdowns. Among players with at least 700 career targets, Locket's 9.6 yards per target ranks fourth, behind only DeSean Jackson, Rob Gronkowski, and Julio Jones. Lockett's aDOT has fluctuated wildly the past four years, ranging from 9.7 in 2020 to 14.6 in 2021 back down to 10.6 last year. With Smith-Njigba likely working more in the slot, it could balloon again this year, leading to fewer catches but more big plays.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Three grabs in Sunday's win

Lockett caught three of seven passes for 34 yards in Sunday's 37-27 win over the Panthers. He also caught a two-point conversion. The 30-year-old wideout took a back seat to DK Metcalf in this one and couldn't repeat last week's two-TD performance, but Lockett was who Geno Smith looked for as he scrambled around on a two-point conversion attempt in the fourth quarter. Lockett hasn't produced much yardage yet in 2023, but that could change in Week 4 against a Giants secondary that just got torched for a 6-129-1 line by the 49ers' Deebo Samuel.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Scores twice in OT win

Lockett secured eight of 10 targets for 59 yards and two touchdowns in the Seahawks' 37-31 overtime win over the Lions on Sunday. Lockett made his fantasy managers' day in the final 15 minutes-plus of the contest, as he recorded a three-yard touchdown grab in the fourth quarter before adding a six-yard scoring catch in overtime where he extended himself to hit the pylon and put the game-winning points on the board for Seattle. Like the entirety of the Seahawks' air attack, Lockett was exponentially more productive than during the nightmarish Week 1 loss to the Rams, and after recording team-high reception and target totals Sunday, he'll head into a Week 3 home matchup against the Panthers with a head of steam.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Leaves game briefly

Lockett (head) finished with two catches (four targets) for 10 yards in Sunday's 30-13 loss to the Rams. Lockett was forced out of the contest for concussion evaluation before being cleared to return and finish out the game. It was a disappointing showing from Seattle's entire passing offense, and the veteran wideout had the added concern regarding his health. The fact that Lockett finished the game without issue bodes well for his prospects heading into next week's tilt against Detroit, but he will likely have to clear the league's protocol before receiving clearance.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Back on the field Sunday

Lockett (head) returned to Sunday's game against the Rams, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Lockett had been forced out of the contest while being evaluated for a concussion, but he's been cleared and is back on the field. He is thus in line to retain a key role in the Seattle offense alongside fellow WRs DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Getting concussion check

Lockett is under evaluation for a head injury during Sunday's game against the Rams, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. Lockett got hurt while blocking for Kenneth Walker on a running play, and he was looked at on the field and in the medical tent before news of a concussion check emerged. If Lockett enters the protocol for head injuries, he'll need to complete its five phases before gaining clearance for further game action.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: WRs to Start

Lockett and DK Metcalf should get a boost this week with Jaxon Smith-Njigba (wrist) likely limited, and Lockett absolutely destroyed the Rams in 2022. In two games against Los Angeles, Lockett had 13 catches for 182 yards and two touchdowns on 19 targets, and he should have the chance for another big outing in Week 1. Metcalf had 11 catches for 167 yards and a touchdown on 16 targets against the Rams last year as well.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Sees action Saturday

Lockett (undisclosed) brought in his only target for six yards in the Seahawks' 22-14 preseason win over the Cowboys on Saturday night. The veteran wideout had worked through some tightness earlier in training camp, but he was healthy enough to make his preseason debut Saturday. Lockett's one catch came on Seattle's first drive as he worked with starting quarterback Geno Smith, and it remains to be seen if either of the duo will play in next Saturday afternoon's exhibition finale versus the Packers.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Increases workload Tuesday

Lockett (undisclosed) handled a mix of individual and team drills at Tuesday's practice, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. One day removed from Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reporting that Lockett was dealing with some undisclosed minor tightness, Lockett increased his activity level from Monday's work on a side field. Tuesday's workload marked Lockett's most since last week. It remains unclear if the Seahawks will allow him to get some preseason action, with the team's exhibition slate kicking off Thursday against the Vikings.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Working through 'minor tightness'

Lockett (undisclosed) primarily logged work on the side during Monday's practice, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports. Coach Pete Carroll relayed that Lockett is tending to "some minor tightness," per Henderson. The Seahawks open the preseason Thursday against the Vikings, so it's unlikely Lockett will be available for that contest. In fact, considering the rapport he displayed with quarterback Geno Smith in 2022, Lockett may not see much, if any, work during exhibition season. Whenever he's healthy, Lockett will be looking to put up a fifth consecutive 1,000-yard season during the upcoming campaign.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Contract restructured

Seattle and Lockett agreed Thursday to a contract restructure, converting $8.54 million of his base salary into a signing bonus, Field Yates of ESPN reports. The Seahawks free up roughly $5.7 million in cap space with the transaction. Lockett is heading into his age-31 season with three more years on his deal, though Seattle has a potential 'out' after the 2023 campaign. The addition of rookie first-round pick Jaxon Smith-Njigba somewhat clouds Lockett's long-term future with the Seahawks, but the upcoming season he appears still fully entrenched alongside DK Metcalf as one of Geno Smith's top two receiving options. Lockett is coming off four consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons, and the presence of Smith-Njigba will only make it more difficult for opposing defense to account for him.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Six catches in loss to Niners

Lockett caught six of eight targets for 39 yards in Saturday's 41-23 wild-card loss to the 49ers. The veteran wideout was reduced to being a possession option for Geno Smith while DK Metcalf (10-136-2 on 13 targets) did the damage downfield. Lockett reached 1,000 receiving yards for the fourth straight campaign in 2022, finishing with 84 catches for 1,033 yards and nine touchdowns in 16 regular-season games, and after a fairly seamless transition from Russell Wilson, he should see success next season whether Smith gets re-signed or Seattle looks elsewhere for a starting quarterback.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Catches key touchdown

Lockett recorded four receptions on seven targets for 54 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 19-16 overtime win over the Rams. Lockett has battled a number of injuries in recent weeks, though he managed to tally a key 36-yard touchdown early in the third quarter to knot the score at 13. He also helped set up the Seahawks' game-winning field goal with a 17-yard catch in overtime. Lockett found the end in seven of Seattle's last nine games, and he reached at least eight total touchdowns for the fifth consecutive campaign. If Seattle reaches the postseason, he'll likely remain Geno Smith's favorite target.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Playing Sunday

Lockett (shin) is listed as active Sunday versus the Rams. After sitting out Week 16 due to a broken left index finger, Lockett returned to action last Sunday against the Jets but was in and out of the contest due to a shin injury. The Seahawks held him out of practice Wednesday and Thursday with the same health concern, but his return to drills Friday as a limited participant was followed by coach Pete Carroll telling Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle that Lockett looked good and was slated to play Week 18. With his status now confirmed, Lockett still could operate with some restrictions for a second consecutive game, even though the team must win (with a Packers loss Sunday night) to reach the postseason.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Expected to play

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Lockett (shin) -- who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams -- looked good at Friday's practice and is expected to play, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports. Lockett injured his shin in his first game back after missing a week with a broken finger, ultimately seeing only two targets and 31 percent of the offensive snaps in the Seahawks' 23-6 win over New York last Sunday. Earlier this week, Lockett said he'll play in the must-win game this Sunday, and Carroll is singing the same tune after a successful showing in practice Friday. Cautious fantasy managers may want to stay tuned nonetheless ahead of Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, considering Carroll doesn't have the best track record of providing reliable injury information.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Deemed questionable

Lockett (shin) returned to practice Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports. Lockett returned from finger surgery last week after missing just one game, only to suffer a shin injury that limited his playing time (31 percent snap share) in the win over New York. He said earlier this week that he'll play Sunday, and that seems to be the most likely outcome even if he isn't at his best. The Seahawks need a win at 4:25 p.m. ET and a Packers loss to the Lions in the Sunday night game to make the playoffs.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Stays sidelined at practice

Lockett (shin) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. After having surgery to repair a broken left index finger on Dec. 19, Lockett returned from a one-game absence this past Sunday against the Jets, but he was in and out of the contest with an unknown lower-leg issue. It's been termed a shin injury on the Seahawks' Week 18 practice reports and so far hasn't allowed him to log any on-field work. Coach Pete Carroll told Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune on Wednesday that Lockett expects to be available to play through his bruised shin Sunday versus the Rams, but he seems like a prime candidate to carry a designation into the weekend, something that will be revealed on Friday's report.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Not practicing

Lockett won't practice Wednesday due to a shin injury but said he will play in Sunday's game against the Rams, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports. Lockett returned from finger surgery to play in Sunday's 23-6 win over the Jets, but he picked up a shin bruise along the way and ultimately saw only two targets while playing less than 40 percent of Seattle's offensive snaps. He should have a bigger role Week 18 against the Rams even if he's not 100 percent, as the Seahawks need a win (plus a bit of help) to secure the final wild-card spot in the NFC. Lockett likely will try to practice Thursday or Friday to gauge his readiness for the regular-season finale.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Battles through injury in Week 18

Lockett caught both of his targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 23-6 win over the Jets in Week 17. Lockett returned from a one-week absence due to a hand injury, but he picked up a leg injury during the game and ended up playing just 22 snaps (31 percent). While he did return to the game, it will be worth monitoring Lockett's status during the week ahead of the regular-season finale versus the Rams. The Seahawks are still in the playoff hunt, so if Lockett is active, we should expect him to handle his typical role.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Returns to game

Lockett, who had exited Sunday's game against the Jets with a leg injury, was subsequently able to return to the contest, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. After having gone to the locker room near the end of the first half, Lockett re-entered the game for the first play of the fourth quarter, per Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune. Prior to his exit from the contest, the wideout had caught both of his targets for 15 yards.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Picks up leg injury

Lockett sustained a leg injury during Sunday's game against the Jets. Lockett went to the locker room near the end of the first half and wasn't on the sideline after the break before the Seahawks revealed the reason for his absence. He was back in action Sunday following a one-game absence due to surgery to repair a broken left index finger, but that issue didn't force him to exit Week 17. If Lockett is unable to return, he'll finish with two catches (on two targets) for 15 yards.
