Brendel and the 49ers agreed to terms on a four-year contract Tuesday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
Brendel became a full-time starter as a 30-year-old last season, making all 17 starts at center after logging just three career starts prior to 2022. It's a big re-signing for the Niners after they reportedly lost stalwart RT Mike McGlinchey to the Broncos on Monday.

Brendel has opted out of the 2020 season, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
The journeyman center spent time in Dallas, Miami, Denver and Baltimore before signing a contract with the 49ers earlier this year. He is the third member of the 49ers to opt out of the season.

Brendel (calf) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.
Brendel spent the first half of the season on injured reserve with an injury to the same calf. The UCLA product sustained this particular injury in practice Dec. 6 and was considered week-to-week afterward. Brendel missed Sunday's divisional tilt with the Patriots and now will miss the remainder of the season.

Brendel (calf) suffered a calf injury during Wednesday's practice, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.
Brendel was a limited participant in Thursday's practice. The starting offensive lineman appears to have injured the same calf which kept him on injured reserve throughout the first eight games of the season. Coach Adam Gase called Brendel week-to-week, indicating that he'll likely miss Sunday's divisional tilt against the Patriots.

Brendel was placed on injured reserve at the start of the season after the calf injury slowed him throughout training camp and the preseason. Now that he's back practicing again, the 26-year-old will be eligible to return following the Dolphins' Week 8 game against the Texans and must be activated prior to Nov. 8 or else remain on IR for the rest of the season.
