Schweitzer (calf) is considered doubtful for Sunday's matchup with the Patriots. Barring a quick turnaround, Schweitzer is not trending toward playing. With the Jets out of the playoff picture, that would mean he may have played his last game this season. Still, final confirmation on his status will be made closer to kickoff.... See More ... Jets' Wes Schweitzer: Designated to return from IR
The Jets designated Schweitzer (calf) to return from injured reserve Wednesday, and he was a limited participant in practice, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports. Schweitzer has had two stints on injured reserve this season due to a calf injury. The Jets have only one more game left this season and have already been eliminated from playoff contention, so Schweitzer's designation to return Wednesday may mean that the teams intends for him to suit up Sunday versus New England. If that happens, it would be just the seventh game he has played in the campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Wes Schweitzer: Back on injured reserve
Schweitzer (calf) was placed on injured reserve Saturday. Schweitzer was placed on injured reserve in late October with the same calf injury, but he was activated prior to Week 13 and played an entire outing against the Falcons. The 30-year-old was ruled out for this Sunday's game versus the Texans on Friday after not practicing the entire week, and his second placement on IR will sideline him for the rest of the season. Linemen Max Mitchell or Billy Turner should see increased opportunities moving forward.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Wes Schweitzer: Won't suit up Week 14
Schweitzer (calf) has been ruled out for Sunday's clash with the Texans. Schweitzer went on IR at the end of October due to the calf issue, but he was able to make his return this past Sunday versus Atlanta. However, he appears to have aggravated the injury, as he wasn't able to practice at all this week. With Schweitzer ruled out for Sunday, Max Mitchell or Billy Turner could see an increased role.... Jets' Wes Schweitzer: Misses practice Wednesday
Schweitzer (calf) was a nonparticipant at the Jets' practice Wednesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Schweitzer was able to play through his calf injury in Week 13 versus the Falcons, so his absence Wednesday isn't particularly concerning quite yet. He'll look to return to the field for at least one of the team's final two practice sessions prior to Sunday's matchup with the Texans.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Wes Schweitzer: Activated Saturday
New York activated Schweitzer (calf) off injured reserve Saturday. After a full practice Friday, Schweitzer has been activated to the Jets' active roster ahead of Sunday's contest against the Falcons. The veteran offensive lineman is still listed as questionable, though, and if he's unable to suit up in Week 13, Max Mitchell is expected to get the nod at right guard.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Wes Schweitzer: Designated to return
The Jets designated Schweitzer (calf) to come back from injured reserve Wednesday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports. Schweitzer injured his calf during the team's Week 8 win over the Giants, and returned to practice Wednesday, albeit in a limited capacity. The team will now have 21 days to officially activate the 2016 sixth-round pick off injured reserve.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Wes Schweitzer: Exits game with calf injury
Schweitzer (calf) is doubtful to return to Sunday's game against the Giants, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Schweitzer filled in at center during Sunday's game when starter Connor McGovern (knee) left earlier in the game, as backup Joe Tippmann (quadriceps) is inactive for the contest. Xavier Newman took over at center but botched an exchange with Zach Wilson that led to a lost fumble. Connor Hughes of SNY.tv suggests that Billy Turner could fill in under center to start the second half, or Laken Tomlinson could shift from left guard to handle snaps.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Wes Schweitzer: Out Sunday
Schweitzer (concussion) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's contest against Kansas City, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. New York will be without a key rotational piece on its offensive line for the second week in a row after, as the 30-year-old didn't practice all week and has since been ruled out this coming Sunday. Schweitzer's absence will make Zach Wilson's job even harder, as the team is going up against a Kansas City defense led by the All-Pro defensive lineman, Chris Jones.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Wes Schweitzer: Trending toward sitting Sunday
Coach Robert Saleh said Friday that the Jets hope to have Schweitzer (concussion) back "next week," Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. While Saleh's comments might have been optimistic generally, they don't bode very well for Schweitzer's odds of returning for Week 4 action. If he does miss more time, rookie Joe Tippmann is a candidate to start at guard.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Wes Schweitzer: Unavailable Week 3
Schweitzer (concussion) is ruled out for Sunday's game against the Patriots, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Schweitzer will need to fully clear the league's concussion protocol before returning to game action, with his next chance to suit up being Week 4 versus the Chiefs. He plays a key depth role along the Jets' offensive line, so his absence will make things more difficult for Zach Wilson versus New England's pass rush.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Wes Schweitzer: Lands with Jets
Schweitzer signed with the Jets on Thursday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports. Schweitzer has appeared in 80 games in his career, seven of which came in 2022. He's played every position along the offensive line, the most recent of which were right guard and center as a member of the Commanders. As things currently stand, he's penciled in as the Jets' starting center.... See More ... See Less

Rich Cimini@RichCimini23H agoIt would’ve been highly unusual to outright cut Zach Wilson. The last QB drafted in the top 10 to be cut by his original team on his rookie contract was Robert Griffin III (drafted 2012). Blake Bortles (2014) was cut by the Jaguars, but he was on his second contract. #Jets
