  • Steelers' James Pierre: Returning to Pittsburgh

The Steelers re-signed Pierre on Tuesday, Mark Kaboly of The Athletic reports. Pierre logged 29 tackles (22 solo) and an interception for Pittsburgh last year and now the 26-year-old will return for the 2023 season. Originally a restricted free agent, the Steelers opted not to tender Pierre last week but will now get him back at a cheaper price. The 2020 undrafted free agent should provide solid depth in the secondary as well as seeing time on special teams.

  • Dolphins' Malik Reed: Agrees to terms with Miami

The Dolphins signed Reed on Saturday, Field Yates of ESPN reports. Reed is coming off the worst season of his career, but he will now reunite with Maimi's defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, whom the 26-year-old had his most productive seasons with while playing under him in Denver. Reed should be expected to serve as solid rotational depth behind starters Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips.

  • Seahawks' Devin Bush: Latches on with Seattle

Bush signed a one-year contract with the Seahawks on Friday, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports. Bush will head to Seattle after spending four seasons with the Steelers following his selection in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The linebacker suffered a torn ACL in 2020 and struggled to return to his rookie form in the past two seasons, but he'll look for a fresh start with the Seahawks. Considering it is a one-year deal, Bush will have to prove himself in 2023 ahead of potentially testing the open market again next offseason.

  • Myles Jack: Let go by Steelers

Jack was released by the Steelers on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. This was a cap-saving move for Pittsburgh, as cutting Jack clears $8 million in cap space while incurring a $3.25 million hit in dead money. The 27-year-old linebacker should get plenty of interest in free agency, as Jack topped 100 tackles for a third consecutive season in 2022.

  • Raiders' Robert Spillane: Set to move to Las Vegas

Spillane is expected to sign a two-year deal with the Raiders that's worth a maximum of $9 million with more than $4 million in guarantees, Doug Kyed of AtoZSports reports. Spillane played a career-high 565 defensive snaps last year for the Steelers, resulting in him posting 79 tackles at inside linebacker. He'll move from a 3-4 defense in Pittsburgh to a 4-3 scheme in Las Vegas, meaning Spillane will likely be cast as a middle linebacker with his new team -- a move that could result in a bump in his IDP value.

  • Steelers' Larry Ogunjobi: Staying in Pittsburgh

Ogunjobi is expected to sign a three-year deal with the Steelers in which he will earn $21.75 million over the first two years of the deal, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Ogunjobi played 615 snaps for the Steelers last year, the fewest he's played in a season since 2017. However, his production remained stable, as he recorded between 46 and 52 tackles in each of the last five years. Despite his consistency as a tackler, his 1.5 sacks represented his lowest total since his rookie year. He should retain a significant snap share as a starter, but expect him to play in a rotation again.

  • Steelers' Damontae Kazee: Back to Steelers on two-year deal

The Steelers re-signed Kazee to a two-year contract Tuesday, ESPN's Brooke Pryor reports. Kazee inked a one-year deal with the Steelers last offseason but missed the first eight games of the year on injured reserve with an arm issue. If Pittsburgh can't re-sign Terrell Edmunds in free agency, Kazee makes sense as a replacement next to Minkah Fitzpatrick. Kazee has made 53 career starts across six seasons with three different teams.

  • Lions' Cameron Sutton: In line to sign with Detroit

The Lions are in line to sign Sutton to a three-year, $33 million deal when the new league year begins Wednesday, Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com reports. Sutton was selected by the Steelers in the third round of the 2017 Draft and eventually took over as a full-time starter during the 2020 campaign. In 2022, the 28-year-old totaled 43 tackles, 15 pass defenses and three interceptions across 16 appearances. Sutton will presumably garner a starting role with the Lions, whose secondary was decimated by injuries last year.

  • Carlins Platel: Let go by Pitsburgh

The Steelers waived Platel on Friday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports. Platel was signed as an undrafted free agent out of South Carolina following the 2022 NFL Draft, but he didn't make any appearances last season. He's still looking to make his NFL debut.

  • William Jackson: Released by Pittsburgh

The Steelers released Jackson (back) on Friday, Field Yates of ESPN reports. Jackson was traded by Washington to Pittsburgh during the 2022 campaign, but he didn't make any appearances for the Steelers and ended the season on IR with a back injury. The 2016 first-round pick has appeared in 75 career games and totaled 51 pass defenses and five interceptions, so he should garner some attention as a free agent this summer.

  • Steelers' Jamir Jones: Inks one-year deal with Pittsburgh

The Steelers signed Jones to a one-year contract Monday. Jones appeared in 17 games for the Steelers last year, mostly operating on special teams. He recorded a career-high 10 tackles and figures to maintain a similar role in 2023.

  • Steelers' T.J. Watt: Limited by injury in 2022

Watt tallied 39 tackles (27 solo), including 5.5 sacks, along with two interceptions, five pass defenses and a forced fumble over 10 games in 2022. Watt earned Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2021 by racking up a career-high 22.5 sacks, tying Michael Strahan's record. However, he sustained a knee injury in Week 1 of the 2022 campaign and missed seven games after undergoing arthroscopic surgery. The 2017 first-rounder was limited to a career-low 5.5 sacks but will be able to recover during the offseason and will attempt to return to dominance in 2023.

  • Steelers' Terrell Edmunds: Remains effective in 2022

Edmunds generated 70 tackles (41 solo), including two sacks, along with five pass defenses over 15 games in 2022. Edmunds missed two games due to injury in 2022, but he logged at least 70 tackles for the fourth time over his first five professional seasons while also posting a career-high mark in sacks. The 25-year-old is slated to become an unrestricted free agent during the offseason, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the Steelers express interest in bringing him back given the impact he's had over his five seasons with the team.

  • Steelers' Alex Highsmith: Posts career-high sack mark in 2022

Highsmith totaled 63 tackles (38 solo), including 14.5 sacks, along with five forced fumbles and a pass defense over 17 games in 2022. Highsmith's tackle mark was slightly down in 2022 after he posted 74 tackles over 16 appearances in 2021, but he posted career-high totals in sacks and forced fumbles during his third professional season. The 25-year-old finished the year on a high note but matched his second-highest tackle total of the season while logging his second-highest sack total of the year during the Steelers' Week 18 win over Cleveland. Highsmith should continue to see plenty of work for Pittsburgh in 2023.

  • Steelers' Cameron Heyward: Productive to close out season

Heyward racked up 74 tackles (39 solo), including 10.5 sacks, along with four pass defenses, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery over 17 appearances in 2022. Heyward appeared in every game for the fourth time in the last five seasons and posted the second-highest sack total of his career during his age-33 season. He tallied 5.5 sacks over the final four weeks of the season and logged a season-high eight tackles during the Steelers' Week 18 win over Cleveland. He has a significant cap hit over the final two years of his contract with the Steelers, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him remain with the team given how productive he's been over the last several seasons.

  • Steelers' Devin Bush: Quiet finish to 2022 season

Bush recorded 81 tackles (44 solo) and two pass defenses over 17 games in 2022. Although Bush appeared in every game this season, his workload significantly decreased over the final two games of the year, as he was limited to just nine defensive snaps during that time. He had his highest mark in tackles since he racked up 109 tackles during his rookie season in 2019, but it was discouraging to see his decreased snap count late in the year. The 2019 first-rounder is slated to hit unrestricted free agency during the offseason, and it's possible he seeks out another team in hopes of getting a fresh start.

  • Steelers' Minkah Fitzpatrick: Productive during 2022 campaign

Fitzpatrick logged 96 tackles (56 solo), six interceptions, 11 pass defenses and a touchdown over 15 games during the 2022 season. Last season, Fitzpatrick matched the second-lowest mark of his career with two interceptions, but he bounced back with a career-high six interceptions in 2022 while nearly posting 100 tackles. The 26-year-old had double-digit tackles on three occasions this year and should remain a prominent member of the Steelers' secondary in 2023 since he signed a four-year, $73.6 million deal with Pittsburgh in June of 2022.

  • Steelers' Myles Jack: Tops 100 tackles once again

Jack recorded 104 tackles (61 solo) and three pass defenses over 15 games during the 2022 season. Jack was limited by a groin injury over the final few weeks of the season and appeared in just 15 games this year, but he still managed to top 100 tackles for the fourth time in the last five seasons. The 27-year-old has been incredibly consistent despite playing no more than 15 games in any of the last four seasons, and he'll enter the final year of his two-year, $16 million contract with the Steelers next season.

  • Steelers' Minkah Fitzpatrick: Will play Sunday

Fitzpatrick (ankle) is active Sunday against the Browns. Fitzpatrick closed out the week with a limited practice Friday, which set the stage for him to take the field Sunday. The star safety's ability to suit up is certainly good news for the Steelers, as they look to increase their chances for a playoff spot with a win against Cleveland.
