Murray recorded seven tackles (six solo) on 48 total snaps in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Titans.
Murray logged his most productive outing while seeing his most extensive playing time of the season. The 28-year-old also logged 29 defensive snaps compared to just 18 for starting strong safety Jonathan Owens. Murray has now played 39 of his 42 defensive snaps this season over the past two weeks.

Murray underwent shoulder surgery during the offseason, Aaron Wilson of SportsTalk 790 AM reports.
The surgery slipped through the news cracks during the offseason but came to light this week when Murray did not practice as Houston began its OTAs. "We don't have many guys that are out completely. Jonathan Greenard and a few of our other players, Eric Murray, you see some of the guys had offseason surgeries and you probably won't see them until training camp, but everybody's right on schedule being able to do something," head coach Lovie Smith said. Murray is expected to be ready for training camp and is set to resume his role as a starting safety.

Murray has spent the last two years in Houston, and he's had the best two seasons of his career with the Texans. He appeared in 16 games last year and recorded 76 tackles (48 solo), an interception and four pass defenses. The 28-year-old is in line to serve as a starting safety once again in 2022.

Murray tested positive for the coronavirus Thursday and will be placed on the Texans' reserve/COVID-19 list, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.
Murray, cornerback Lonnie Johnson and defensive linemen Roy Lopez and Jordan Jenkins are among the Texans who tested positive Thursday, bringing the organization's total number of players on the reserve/COVID-19 list or practice squad/COVID-19 list up to 22. Jonathan Owens is currently the only healthy safety on the roster, as Justin Reid is working his way back from a concussion and is uncertain to play Sunday against the Chargers. Murray will have a chance to come off the list ahead of the Week 16 contest if he's vaccinated and asymptomatic of the virus, but he faces a tight timeline to gain clearance.

Murray returned to a starting role last week after the Texans moved Lonnie Johnson from safety to cornerback. He was on the field for 94 percent of the defensive snaps and has played well recently, totaling 19 tackles, two passes defensed and one interception over the last two games. He was originally a starter at safety to start the season but got lost in the shuffle as defensive coordinator Lovie Smith searched for the right combination on the back end. It appears Murray and Justin Reid may be the most effective partners on the back end.

Murray is taking the starting safety job from Lonnie Johnson, who is moving back to cornerback. Murray, who started for the Texans in the first three weeks of the season, was on the field for 69 defensive snaps Week 9 against Miami and recorded an interception.
