Steelers' Kwon Alexander: Leads team in tackles
Alexander totaled nine tackles (eight solo) during the Steelers' 30-7 loss to San Francisco on Sunday.
Alexander signed with the Steelers during the offseason after appearing in all 17 games for the Jets last year, and he made a significant impact during his team debut. The 29-year-old tallied at least nine tackles for just the second time since the 2021 campaign despite playing just 69 percent of the team's defensive snaps. Even though the Steelers' defense struggled to hold the 49ers in check Sunday, Alexander was a bright spot and should continue to handle a sizable role with his new team.

Steelers' Kwon Alexander: Inks deal

Steelers' Kwon Alexander: Agrees to terms with Steelers
Alexander agreed to terms on a contract with Pittsburgh on Saturday pending the results of a physical, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Barring any unforeseen results from this physical, Alexander should be set to vie for a significant role with Pittsburgh, which also added fellow inside linebackers Cole Holcomb and Elandon Roberts via free agency this offseason. The 28-year-old Alexander has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, playing just 38 regular-season games from 2018 to 2021. However, he did play all 17 regular-season games for the Jets in 2022, tallying 69 tackles -- the most since his 2017 season with Tampa Bay. The 227-pound linebacker is regarded as one of the league's most athletic off-ball linebackers when healthy, showcasing unique skills in space. Alexander should be a natural fit in the Steelers' veteran-laden defensive unit.

Jets' Kwon Alexander: Signs with Jets
Alexander signed a contract with the Jets on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Alexander recorded 50 tackles, 3.5 sacks and one interception and forced fumble apiece over 12 games with New Orleans last year. The linebacker missed four games while on injured reserve with an elbow injury early last season, but he finished strong with seven starts over the last five games of the regular season. Alexander previously played under Jets coach Robert Saleh, who served as San Francisco's defensive coordinator during the linebacker's time with the 49ers during the 2019 and 2020 campaigns. The 27-year-old should push either Quincy Williams and Hamsah Nasirildeen for a prominent role at outside linebacker in 2022.
