Jaguars' Brandon McManus: Finds new home in Jacksonville
The Jaguars signed McManus to a one-year contract Thursday.
McManus was released by the Broncos on Tuesday, but after just two days he finds a new home in Jacksonville. The 31-year-old, who had spent his entire NFL career to date in Denver, converted just 28 of 36 field goals to go with 25 of 27 extra-point attempts during the 2022 season. Though McManus' conversion percentage isn't extraordinary, that's in part due to his high volume of long-distance kicks (13 tries from 50-plus yards last season). He was 10-for-10 on attempts from 40-49 yards out in 2022.

Brandon McManus: Informed of release
The Broncos are releasing McManus, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The 31-year-old has spent his entire career in Denver, playing 144 of a possible 146 regular-season games over nine years. McManus was scheduled for non-guaranteed base salaries of $3.65 million in 2023 and $3.85 million in 2024, so his release is likely about cap space more than performance. While his career 81.4 percent success rate on FG attempts is subpar by modern standards, McManus has attempted a ton of long-distance kicks due to his strong leg and the altitude in Denver, with tries of 50-plus yards accounting for 26.3 percent of his career volume (and 62.7 percent of his misses). It's unclear who will replace him in Denver, but with teams like the Cowboys and Rams lacking established kicking options, he may not be out of work for long.

Broncos' Brandon McManus: Perfect in win

Though McManus was perfect on his extra-point attempts Sunday, his production was limited by a surprisingly effective day for Denver's offense. McManus was sidelined during practice Wednesday due to what Denver coach Nathaniel Hackett characterized as a minor right quadriceps injury. While it's unclear when or how this issue first arose, it appears the 31-year-old kicker is trending in the right direction ahead of Sunday's game versus Kansas City. McManus will now have one opportunity to return to a full practice before Friday's final injury report, though Hackett already said he doesn't plan to bring in another kicker for the Week 14 divisional clash.

That said, the injury may in part explain why McManus came up short on a potential game-winning 63-yard kick as time expired in the Broncos' one-point loss to the Ravens in Week 10, marking the fifth field goal he's missed beyond 50 yards this season. The Broncos could be more hesitant to give McManus more long field-goal opportunities at least for this week, as head coach Nathaniel Hackett told Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com on Friday that he's still "working through" what McManus' range will be Sunday while he manages the injury.
