  • Broncos' Randy Gregory: Could remain on IR moving forward

Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett said that Gregory (knee) "might need a little bit more time" before coming off IR this season, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.

Gregory injured the meniscus in his right knee during Denver's Week 4 loss to the Raiders and had an arthroscopic surgery to address this issue. While the typical recovery timeline for this relatively minor procedure is 2-4 weeks, he has yet to be designated to return since going on injured reserve Oct. 4. Gregory signed a five-year, $70 million contract with the Broncos in March and recorded nine tackles, including two sacks, over the first four games of the season. He'll now have just six more weeks to return before the end of the 2022 regular season.

  • Broncos' Randy Gregory: Out at least four games

The Broncos placed Gregory (knee) on injured reserve Tuesday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.

Gregory exited in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the Raiders due to a right knee injury, and though follow-up tests cleared him of any damage to his ACL, he'll still require an arthroscopic procedure to trim his meniscus. A typical recovery timeline associated with the procedure is 2-4 weeks, but Gregory's move to IR ensures he'll have five weeks to recover -- because the Broncos are on their bye in Week 9, the pass rusher won't be eligible to play until Week 10 in Tennessee. Baron Browning is expected to move into a starting role at outside linebacker opposite Bradley Chubb while Gregory is sidelined.

  • Broncos' Randy Gregory: Set for MRI

Gregory (knee) will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of his injury, Jeff Legwold of ESPN reports.

Gregory suffered a right knee injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the Raiders and he will now have a greater understanding of his status moving forward after Monday's MRI. The 29-year-old has produced nine tackles, including two sacks, while also forcing two fumbles over the first four games of the season. If he's forced to miss any time, Nik Bonitto stands to garner an increase in snaps at weak-side linebacker.

  • Broncos' Randy Gregory: Dodges significant injury

Gregory had an MRI on Monday which showed his ACL was still intact; however, he will need his knee scoped and will likely miss several weeks, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.

The news is bittersweet, as there were concerns Gregory could be looking at a significant ACL injury. However, missing any time is bad news for the Broncos defense, as Gregory has been a force with two sacks and forced fumbles already. He should be sidelined for anywhere from two to six weeks depending how his recovery from the knee scope goes, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. While Gregory is out, Nik Bonitto will likely see increased opportunity.
