Smart sustained a shoulder injury during Saturday's preseason game against the Giants and his return is questionable, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Smart had one tackle for the game before exiting. Cimini believes Smart is a bubble player and could be on the outside looking in as the Jets finalize their 53-man roster for the 2023 season.

Smart (undisclosed) was reinstated to the Jets' practice squad from the practice squad COVID-19 list Wednesday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports.
Smart has two chances left to make his season debut for the Jets, and he's eligible to be elevated from the practice squad now that he has cleared the COVID-19 protocol.

Smart was cut by the Bills on Saturday, Ryan Talbot of New York Upstate reports.
Smart latched on with the Bills this past month after he was let go by the Rams this offseason. In 13 games with the Rams in 2019, Smart logged seven tackles (two solo) and 174 defensive snaps. He'll seek to earn a similar depth role for another squad elsewhere around the league.

Smart signed a contract with the Bills on Sunday, Maddy Glab of the team's official site reports.
The Rams drafted Smart in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, and the defensive tackle was deployed in a reserve role over three seasons. He compiled 21 tackles and a pass breakup over 31 games. He'll seek a similar role with the Bills, but he'll have a tough battle behind one of the league's top defensive lines.
