  • Seahawks' Godwin Igwebuike: Effective kick returner

Igwebuike rushed three times for four yards and caught his lone target for three yards over five regular-season games in 2022. Igwebuike was called up from the practice squad after a slew of injuries to Seattle's backfield. While Igwebuike barely played on offense, he was solid as a kick returner with 308 yards on 11 returns, including a 50-yard return. Igwebuike will aim to make it on a roster in 2023 with his special-teams skills.

  • Seahawks' Godwin Igwebuike: On active roster

Igwebuike was signed to the Seahawks' active roster Monday. Igwebuike first reverted to the practice squad, but he was then signed to the active roster shortly thereafter. The 28-year-old has played 51 special-teams snaps with the Seahawks to date, and he now joins the active roster to likely act in a similar role. He's tallied 18 total carries in his career dating back to 2018.

  • Seahawks' Godwin Igwebuike: Bumped up from practice squad again

The Seahawks elevated Igwebuike to the active roster from the practice squad Friday ahead of Saturday's matchup against Kansas City, John Boyle of the team's official site reports. Igwebuike has been elevated to the active roster for a third straight week. He played primarily on special teams in his first two appearances and figures to garner a similar role in Week 16.

Igwebuike was elevated to the active roster ahead of Thursday's 21-13 loss to the 49ers and suited up for the second consecutive game. He played exclusively on special teams and racked up 83 yards on kick returns. Igwebuike also chipped in an assisted tackle on kick coverage.

  • Seahawks' Godwin Igwebuike: Bumped up from practice squad

The Seahawks elevated Igwebuike to the active roster ahead of Thursday Night Football against San Francisco. Igwebuike spent the season on and off Seattle's practice squad before being elevated for the first time ahead of Sunday's loss to Carolina. The 28-year-old then wound up only playing 14 special-team's snaps in the contest, as Travis Homer and Tony Jones filled in on offense with Kenneth Walker (ankle) and DeeJay Dallas (ankle) both sidelined. With Walker set to return Thursday against the 49ers, Igwebuike doesn't figure to see any additional opportunities on offense Week 15.

  • Godwin Igwebuike: Returns to practice squad

Igwebuike reverted to the Seahawks' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log. Igwebuike received the elevation for Sunday's loss to the Panthers with Kenneth Walker and DeeJay Dallas both out due to ankle injuries. However, the 28-year-old saw no snaps on offense, as Travis Homer and Tony Jones handled all of the snaps at running back. Igwebuike did handle kick-return duties though, netting 104 yards on three runbacks.

  • Lions' Godwin Igwebuike: Signs tender with Detroit

Igwebuike signed his exclusive-rights tender with the Lions on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. Igwebuike will be back for his second season with Detroit and his fourth NFL season overall. The reserve running back appeared in all 17 games for the Lions last season, tallying 18 rushes for 118 yards and one touchdown while adding seven catches for 60 yards, but he made his biggest impact as the team's primary kick returner with 697 return yards. Igwebuike should reprise that role next season but will look to eliminate his turnovers after fumbling twice in 2021.

  • Lions' Godwin Igwebuike: Fails to catch pass on fake punt

Igwebuike was targeted once but did not record a catch during Sunday's 37-30 win over Green Bay. Breaking a nine-game streak of seeing time on offense, Igwebuike didn't log any offensive snaps and his one opportunity to catch a pass came on a fake punt. The special-teamer will thus finish the 2021 campaign with 18 carries for 118 rushing yards and one touchdown along with seven catches on 10 targets for 60 receiving yards. While his stats may not jump off the page, it was largely a successful season for the converted safety who transitioned to running back during the offseason. Igwebuike will be an exclusive-rights free agent and has a good chance to stick around in Detroit given his usefulness on special teams.

  • Lions' Godwin Igwebuike: Little contribution to big win

Igwebuike gained no yards and lost one fumble on two carries while catching two of two targets for 11 yards during Sunday's 30-12 win over the Cardinals. While Igwebuike (nine offensive snaps) saw more playing time than Jermar Jefferson (six), both watched as Craig Reynolds (42) reached triple-digit rushing yards on 26 carries. With Jamaal Williams now off the reserve/COVID-19 list and D'Andre Swift slated to test his shoulder in practice this week, Igwebuike's role only stands to diminish as the health of his teammates improve.

  • Lions' Godwin Igwebuike: Taking on key role this week

Igwebuike, Jermar Jefferson and practice-squad player Craig Reynolds appear to be the Lions' three backfield options for Sunday's game in Denver, Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reports. D'Andre Swift (shoulder) has been ruled out and Jamaal Williams was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday. Last week, Igwebuike got most of the passing-down work in a 29-27 win over the Vikings, though his 39 percent snap share led to only two carries and two targets, while Williams took 17 carries for 71 yards (on 47 percent snap share) and Jefferson got five carries and one target on 11 percent of snaps. That arguably hints at Jefferson being the lead runner Sunday while Igwebuike gets most of the passing snaps, but it's hard to know for sure, with potential complicating factors including Reynolds coming up from the practice squad and Jefferson's bout with an illness this week (he missed practice Wednesday and Thursday but returned to full participation Friday and was cleared from the final report).

  • Lions' Godwin Igwebuike: Three touches sans Swift

Igwebuike rushed twice for eight yards while catching one of two targets for 13 yards during Sunday's 29-27 win over the Vikings. Igwebuike saw an uptick in offensive snaps with D'Andre Swift (shoulder) sidelined, but he didn't do much before the final minutes of the game. He'll remain irrelevant in most fantasy formats even if Swift remains sidelined in Week 14 against Denver.

  • Eagles' Godwin Igwebuike: Picked up by Eagles

The Eagles claimed Igwebuike off waivers from the 49ers on Tuesday, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Igwebuike was an undrafted rookie in 2018 and played six games between the Buccaneers and 49ers, playing strictly on special teams. The Eagles already have their starters at safety, so Igwebuike will look to carve out a place on special teams in Philly as well.
