49ers waived Vanderdoes on Monday.
After opting out of the 2020 campaign, Vanderdoes signed a one-year contract with the 49ers on Aug. 12. However, that did not last long as the 26-year-old has already been let go. It's possible that he is still dealing with the undisclosed injury that caused him to be released by the Texans, or he may just not be in great football shape after taking a year off. Nonetheless, he is likely to land on a practice squad somewhere.

49ers' Eddie Vanderdoes: Lands deal with San Francisco
Vanderdoes signed a one-year contract with the 49ers on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The 26-year-old didn't land a contract with San Francisco following a workout with the team in late July, but he'll now join the team as depth on the defensive line after Davin Bellamy was waived Thursday. Vanderdoes dealt with an unspecified injury earlier in the offseason but is now healthy after he opted out of the 2020 campaign due to COVID-19 concerns.

Coach Jon Gruden stated Friday that Vanderdoes is currently sidelined with a concussion and hopes to be back "within the next week," Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
Vanderdoes started 13 games his rookie campaign, but a torn ACL kept him sidelined for the entire 2018 season. He will face more competition for playing time this year, as the Raiders' defensive tackle depth has beefed up since he last played. Thus, getting cleared from concussion protocol sooner rather than later will allow him more of an opportunity to make an impression at camp.

Vanderdoes (knee) is participating in training camp after missing the entirety of the 2018 season with a torn ACL, Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
Vanderdoes appeared in all 16 games for the Raiders during his rookie campaign in 2017, but the UCLA product was sidelined for an extended period of time with a torn ACL this past year. Oakland's deadline to activate Vanderdoes to the 53-man roster came and passed Monday, relegating the second-year defensive tackle to the PUP list for the remainder of the season. It remains to be seen whether the decision to keep Vanderdoes on the PUP list came due to a setback in his recovery, or due to another undisclosed reason. Vanderdoes played all 16 games during his rookie year with the Raiders and will set his sights on a return during the 2019 season.

As expected, Vanderdoes will not make his 2018 debut Sunday. The Raiders will need to decide whether to promote the second-year pro to the 53-man roster or place him on injured reserve before Week 11 kicks off, since Vanderdoes first returned to practice on Oct. 22. Vanderdoes is expected to be promoted to the active roster, giving him a good chance of suiting up against the Cardinals on Nov. 18.

Raiders' Eddie Vanderdoes: Likely won't make 2018 debut until Week 11
Vanderdoes (knee) likely won't play Sunday against the Chargers, but is more probable to make his 2018 debut against the Cardinals in Week 11, Matt Schneidman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Vanderdoes reported to practice for the first time in 2018 on Oct. 22, thus beginning the three-week period in which the team can evaluate him for a return to the 53-man roster. The UCLA product was a long shot to be activated for last week's contest against the 49ers, and it doesn't appear that he will be activated for this week's matchup with the Chargers either. That three-week period will end after this week, and it seems likely that Vanderdoes will be activated after Week 10 and will play Week 11 against the Cardinals.
