Cardinals' David Blough: Could compete for backup job
Blough should get a chance to compete with Colt McCoy (undisclosed) for the Cardinals' backup quarterback role, which takes on added importance with Kyler Murray rehabbing from an ACL tear, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
McCoy is also recovering from an unspecified surgery, potentially opening the door for Blough to be the first-team quarterback when offseason practices begin. McCoy's injury wasn't nearly as serious as Murray's, so the 36-year-old should be ready for training camp even if he misses part or all of OTAs. Blough is 0-7 as a starter in his NFL career, completing only 57 percent of his pass attempts while throwing more interceptions (nine) than touchdowns (six), and the Cardinals re-signed him in March on a one-year, $1.23 million contract that includes only $76,250 guaranteed,

Cardinals' David Blough: Back in Arizona
The Cardinals and Blough (head) agreed to terms on a one-year contract Monday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
Blough started the final two games of the 2023 campaign with Kyler Murray (ACL) and Colt McCoy (undisclosed) unavailable, combining for 402 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions on 65.5 percent passing. However, Blough departed early Week 18 to be checked for a concussion and was unable to return. Presumably past the injury, he'll rejoin a QB room that still employs a rehabbing Murray and McCoy, meaning Blough may be in line for significant reps during the offseason program.

Cardinals' David Blough: Getting concussion check
Blough was examined for a head injury during Sunday's contest at San Francisco.
The Cardinals made the announcement near the end of the third quarter, and if Blough is unable to return, he'll end Week 18 having completed 14 of 18 passes for 180 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, while turning two carries into minus-2 yards and losing a fumble. With Kyler Murray (knee) on IR and Colt McCoy (concussion) inactive Sunday, Trace McSorley took over for Blough under center.

Cardinals' David Blough: Will start season finale
Blough will start Sunday's game against the 49ers, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Coach Kliff Kingsbury made the announcement Wednesday, ruling out Colt McCoy (concussion) in the process. Blough drew his first start for Arizona in last week's 20-19 loss to Atlanta, completing 24 of 40 passes for 222 yards and one touchdown. Dual-threat signal-caller Trace McSorley is the other healthy quarterback on the roster and will serve as Blough's backup.
