Eagles' Avonte Maddox: Battles injuries in 2022
Maddox appeared in nine regular-season games and recorded 43 tackles, three pass breakups, three forced fumbles, one sack, one interception and one fumble recovery across 439 defensive snaps.
Maddox missed multiple games in a row on three separate occasions during the campaign due to a trio of injuries, but when available, he was a force for Philadelphia's stout defense. After missing the divisional-round win over the Giants, the fifth-year cornerback returned to action for the NFL Championship Game and Super Bowl, totaling 10 tackles between those two games. He signed a three-year extension with the Eagles in 2021, so he's still under contract for two more seasons and should remain a prominent part of the secondary as long as he stays healthy.

Eagles' Avonte Maddox: Set to play in Super Bowl
Maddox (toe) doesn't have a designation ahead of Super Bowl LVII against the Chiefs on Sunday.
Maddox picked up a toe injury Week 16 and sat out the Eagles' ensuing three games, but he was able to return for the NFC Championship Game versus the 49ers, recording three tackles on 19 of 41 defensive snaps. He didn't practice at all during the first week of Super Bowl prep, but he followed up back-to-back limited sessions Wednesday and Thursday with all activity to cap this week. As a result, Maddox is poised to be a part of an Eagles cornerback group Sunday that also includes Darius Slay and James Bradberry.

Eagles' Avonte Maddox: Appears ready for Super Bowl
Maddox (toe) doesn't have a designation after the first week of preparation ahead of Super Bowl LVII against the Chiefs on Sunday, Feb. 12.
After sustaining a toe injury Week 16, Maddox missed the Eagles' ensuing three games before returning for this past Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the 49ers. He since has been listed on Philadelphia practice reports with toe and rest, so despite taking in Friday's session in a walking boot -- per Zach Berman of The Athletic -- Maddox doesn't appear to be in danger of sitting out the Super Bowl considering his lack of designation more than a week ahead of the contest.

Eagles' Avonte Maddox: Not practicing
Maddox (toe) has a walking boot on his left foot and isn't practicing Friday, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports.
Maddox played 19 snaps in the NFC Championship Game after missing more than a month with a toe injury. If he isn't available for the Super Bowl against Kansas City, the Eagles likely will turn back to Josiah Scott as their slot corner in nickel packages. Maddox still has a week to return to practice before the big game.

Maddox returned to practice Wednesday for the first time since suffering the toe injury against Dallas on Dec. 24. He remained limited Thursday but was upgraded to a full participant Friday and has been cleared for game action. The fifth-year cornerback recorded 43 tackles, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one sack and one interception across nine appearances this season and figures to reprise his role as Philadelphia's top slot corner during the NFC title game.
