  • Bears' Dante Pettis: Back with Chicago

The Bears signed Pettis (undisclosed) to a one-year deal Friday, Larry Mayer of the team's official site reports. Pettis was dealing with an undisclosed injury back in September of 2023, but it now seems as if he's moved past the issue. The 2018 second-round pick has spent time with the 49ers, Giants and Bears throughout his five-year NFL career, and he's agreed to terms to return to Chicago. Pettis' most recent in-game action came back in 2022 with the Bears, appearing in 17 games and catching 19 of his 41 targets for 245 yards and three touchdowns. The 28-year-old wideout also returned 18 punts for 163 yards in 2022, and he'll likely be competing to make Chicago's 53-man roster as a return man this offseason.

  • Dante Pettis: Released from injured reserve

The Bears released Pettis (undisclosed) from injured reserve with a settlement Wednesday, Aaron Wilson KPRC 2 Houston reports. Pettis was slated to miss the entire 2023 season but is now eligible to sign and play elsewhere. The 2018 second-round pick will look for another opportunity after catching 19 of 41 targets for 245 yards and three touchdowns in 17 games for Chicago in 2022.

  • Bears' Dante Pettis: Lands on IR

The Bears placed Pettis (undisclosed) on injured reserve Friday, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports. The Bears have not provided any clarity on the nature of Pettis' injury. The 27-year-old pass catcher is now in line to spend the remainder of the 2023 season on the sideline. He recorded 19 receptions on 41 targets for 245 yards and three touchdowns for Chicago in 2022.

  • Bears' Dante Pettis: Ready to return

Pettis (undisclosed) was activated from the active/non-football injury list Wednesday. Pettis was able to pass a physical and get cleared to compete after being sidelined since the start of training camp. The 27-year-old should be in the mix to earn a depth role in the team's receiving corps; however, with the addition of DJ Moore and Tyler Scott during the offseason, Pettis may find it more difficult to make the Bears' roster this season.

  • Bears' Dante Pettis: Placed on NFI list

The Bears placed Pettis (undisclosed) on the active/non-football injury list Tuesday. Pettis will start training camp on the sideline due to an undisclosed injury. The 2018 second-round pick played in all 17 games for the Bears last season, catching 19 of 41 targets for 245 yards and three touchdowns, but he could find himself competing for a roster spot once healthy due to the additions of DJ Moore and Tyler Scott.

  • Bears' Dante Pettis: Expected to battle for roster spot

Pettis may battle for a roster spot with Equanimeous St. Brown and Velus Jones, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports. Pettis recorded 245 yards and three touchdowns and also worked as a punt returner in his first year with the Bears. Since he's not the physical blocker that St. Brown is, it may be difficult for Pettis to surpass him on the depth chart. It seems likely he'll be in a direct battle with Jones. Of the two, Pettis has more experience, but Jones could show improvement in his second year and has a rare size-speed combination. This camp battle could last until the latter days of August.

  • Bears' Dante Pettis: Back with Bears on one-year deal

Chicago re-signed Pettis to a one-year contract Monday, Larry Mayer of the team's official site reports. Pettis logged seven starts while appearing in all 17 of the Bears' games last season, recording a 19-245-3 receiving line while also turning two carries into 37 yards and contributing as a punt returner. The arrival of new top wideout DJ Moore could mean Pettis will receive less opportunities to connect with Justin Fields in the 2023 campaign, but he still projects to play a key depth role in Chicago's pass-catching corps.

  • Bears' Dante Pettis: Ticketed for free agency

Pettis caught two passes for 19 yards in the Bears' 29-13 loss to the Vikings in Week 18, and ended the season with 19 receptions, 245 yards and three touchdowns over 17 games played. Pettis was available for more than 12 games for the first time in his five-year career, but he was a depth receiver, which led to him seeing slightly more than two targets per game. Although he had a pair of games with at least 51 yards and a touchdown, he was held to fewer than 15 yards in most of his games. After staying healthy and reasonably reliable, he should continue to serve as a depth option next year and beyond. He's now an unrestricted free agent.

  • Bears' Dante Pettis: Back at practice Wednesday

Pettis (head) was a full participant at practice Wednesday. Pettis briefly checked into a hospital following Sunday's loss to the Lions with blurred vision, but he was able to fly back to Chicago later that night and appears to have avoided a concussion or a related injury. Barring a setback, Pettis should be full go heading into Chicago's season finale this weekend against the Vikings.

  • Bears' Dante Pettis: Brief stay at hospital

Pettis returned to Chicago on a separate flight Sunday night after briefly checking into a hospital with blurred vision, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Pettis failed to catch his lone target during Sunday's loss to the Lions and played a season-low 14 snaps. He was taken to a hospital following the game, but he cleared concussion protocol and was able to fly home Sunday night. However, it's unclear if the fifth-year wideout will be able to practice during Week 18 prep.

Pettis failed to catch his lone target in the Bears' 41-10 loss to the Lions on Sunday. Pettis has surpassed 20 yards once since Week 1, though he has scored four touchdowns this season. He'll be considered a touchdown-dependent dart throw for fantasy in Week 18 against Minnesota.

Pettis entered the league's concussion protocols and was sent to the hospital for precautionary reasons, after he was dealing with blurred vision in Sunday's game against the Lions, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports. • Bears' Dante Pettis: Will play Sunday

Pettis (ankle) is active Sunday against the Lions. Pettis injured his ankle in practice Wednesday, but after he was able to log a limited practice Friday, he's good to go Week 17 against Detroit. His ability to suit up should bolster the Bears' depth at receiver.

  • Bears' Dante Pettis: Uncertain for Sunday

Pettis (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Detroit. Pettis hurt his ankle Wednesday, was held out Thursday and then returned to practice Friday as a limited participant. He and Chase Claypool (knee) both are uncertain ahead of the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday, while fellow Bears wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown has been cleared from concussion protocol.

  • Bears' Dante Pettis: Doesn't practice Thursday

Pettis (ankle) didn't practice Thursday. According to Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune, Pettis hurt his ankle at Wednesday's session, which was the reason he went down as limited. Pettis has just one more chance to mix into drills this week, but on a positive note fellow injured wide receivers Chase Claypool (knee) and Equanimeous St. Brown (concussion) both returned Thursday as limited participants, so the Bears appear to be inching toward better health at the position.

  • Bears' Dante Pettis: Contending with ankle issue

Pettis was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice due to an ankle injury. After catching his first touchdown pass since Oct. 13 this past weekend against Buffalo, Pettis is tending to an injury in advance of this Sunday's matchup with Detroit. The 27-year-old will have two more chances to ramp back up to full speed in practice before the Bears decide whether he carries an injury designation into the weekend.

  • Bears' Dante Pettis: Scores touchdown in losing effort

Pettis caught two passes for 11 yards and a touchdown in the Bears' 35-13 loss to the Bills on Sunday. Pettis hasn't recorded 20 yards in any of his last nine games, and his lack of production will make him difficult to trust in Week 17 lineups.

  • Bears' Dante Pettis: Targeted twice in defeat

Pettis caught one pass for 14 yards in the Bears' 28-19 loss to the Packers on Sunday. Pettis has caught one or fewer passes in all but two games this season, and unless his role changes, he won't be a reliable fantasy option.

  • Bears' Dante Pettis: No injury designation

Pettis (illness) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Packers. Pettis was unable to practice Wednesday or Thursday due to an illness, but he practiced in a full capacity Friday and is good to go for Week 13. Over the last four games, he's secured three of four targets for 33 yards while rushing once for eight yards.

  • Bears' Dante Pettis: Still sitting out practice

Pettis (illness) was a non-participant in Thursday's practice. Pettis has now missed both of the Bears' first two practices and will now have one more chance Friday to potentially move past the illness and get in some on-field reps before Sunday's game against the Packers. If Pettis fails to practice Friday, he'll likely carry a designation into the weekend, if he isn't ruled out for the contest entirely.
