Player Outlook
Foreman parlayed an impressive stretch with the Titans into an even more impressive 2022 season with the Panthers, and now he lands in Chicago, where he'll have legitimate competition for touches. The Bears bring back veteran Khalil Herbert, who was uber productive on a per-touch basis in 2022, and they drafted Roschon Johnson. If Foreman can earn the definitive short-yardage and red-zone role, in addition to the early down role, he would return certain value in standard scoring formats as a 12th-round pick.

  • Bears' D'Onta Foreman: Puts ankle injury behind him

Foreman (ankle) was a full participant in practice Wednesday. Foreman sat out the Week 12 win over Minnesota after injuring his ankle in Week 11 against Detroit, but Chicago's Week 13 bye has afforded the running back enough time to regain health. Prior to going down with the injury, Foreman had been splitting backfield reps with Khalil Herbert in the game against the Lions. Rookie Roschon Johnson then ended up pacing the backfield in touches in Week 12, making it difficult to predict how the reps may be divvied up among Foreman, Herbert and Johnson in the rematch with Detroit this Sunday.

  • Bears' D'Onta Foreman: Ruled out for Week 12

The Bears downgraded Foreman (ankle/shin) to out for Monday's game at Minnesota, Larry Mayer of the team's official site reports. Foreman made an early exit from last Sunday's loss at Detroit due to a right ankle injury. He proceeded to be listed as a non-participant on Thursday's practice report due to ankle and shin injuries before logging back-to-back limited practices to cap Week 12 prep and being given a doubtful designation for Monday's contest. With his lack of availability confirmed, Foreman will yield complementary RB reps to Roschon Johnson and Travis Homer behind Chicago's top option Khalil Herbert.

  • Bears' D'Onta Foreman: Deemed doubtful

Foreman (ankle/shin) has drawn a doubtful designation ahead of Monday's matchup with the Vikings, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Barring a positive turn of events in the next two days, Foreman appears to be trending toward missing Monday Night Football. Should that indeed be the case, Khalil Herbert would presumably draw lead-back responsibilities, while Roschon Johnson would be the No. 2 option in the backfield. Still, final confirmation on Foreman's status is unlikely to be confirmed until Monday.

  • Bears' D'Onta Foreman: Turns in limited practice

Foreman (ankle/shin) was a limited participant in Friday's practice. While the Bears held a walk-through workout Thursday for their first Week 12 practice, Foreman was estimated as a non-participant, but he was able to get back on the field in some capacity for a more traditional practice session Friday. If Foreman can maintain limited activity Saturday or upgrade to full participation, he should have a good chance at being available Monday against the Vikings. The right ankle injury knocked Foreman out early in the Bears' Week 11 loss to the Lions, enabling Khalil Herbert to pace the backfield with 16 carries in his return from a five-game stint on injured reserve. Herbert gained just 35 yards on his 16 carries, however, so he might not have done enough to separate himself from Foreman in the battle for lead ball carrier duties. If both Foreman and Herbert are available Monday, it would be difficult to gauge which of the two might be in line for the bigger workload on the ground.

  • Bears' D'Onta Foreman: Listed as DNP on Thursday

Foreman (ankle/shin) didn't participate in Thursday's walkthrough. Foreman welcomed back Khalil Herbert to the Bears backfield this past Sunday at Detroit, but the former lasted only one half before he departed with a right ankle injury. The Bears listed both ankle and shin for Foreman as the cause of his DNP on Thursday, so his issue may be a bit more expansive than originally thought. Still, he'll have two more chances this week to log some activity, estimated or real, before the team potentially makes a ruling on his availability for Monday's game in Minnesota.

  • Bears' D'Onta Foreman: Suffers ankle injury Sunday

Foreman suffered a right ankle injury during Sunday's game at Detroit and is questionable to return. He carried six times for 14 yards and a touchdown prior to his departure. Not long after halftime, Foreman walked off the field slowly and promptly visited the blue medical tent, according to Bridget Condon of NFL Network. After the Bears deemed him questionable to return, Foreman was seen jogging on the sideline, seemingly testing out his injury, per Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com. With Foreman sidelined, Khalil Herbert likely will be Chicago's lead runner, but Roschon Johnson and Travis Homer also are available.

  • Bears' D'Onta Foreman: Suiting up in Week 11

Foreman (ankle) is listed as active Sunday at Detroit. An ankle injury limited Foreman to a trio of capped practices during Week 11 prep, and while he entered the weekend as questionable for Sunday's game, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reported Saturday that the running back was slated to suit up. With Khalil Herbert (ankle/shin) also back in action for the first time since Week 5 following an IR stint, the breakdown of the Bears backfield is in flux. Foreman handled 88 touches during Herbert's absence, and the latter averaged 5.3 yards per carry this season before getting injured. A timeshare between the two may be implemented to ensure neither player is too taxed coming off of health concerns.

  • Bears' D'Onta Foreman: Questionable for Week 11

Foreman (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Detroit. An ankle injury contained Foreman to a trio of limited practices this week, leaving his status up in the air for Week 11. Meanwhile, fellow running back Khalil Herbert (ankle/shin) is on the verge of ending his IR stint and returning to action for the first time since Week 5, which should be confirmed Saturday afternoon. If Foreman is able to suit up Sunday, he may serve in a timeshare of sorts with Herbert, though the former has handled 88 touches over the last five games in place of the latter.

  • Bears' D'Onta Foreman: Remains limited in practice

Foreman (ankle) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice. Foreman is still looking to move past an ankle injury that he suffered at some point during the Bears' Week 10 win over the Panthers back on Nov. 9. While the ankle issue didn't appear to affect his workload during the contest, Foreman may need to upgrade to full practice participation Friday to avoid an injury designation for this Sunday's game in Detroit. In addition to the ankle injury potentially impacting his Week 11 outlook, Foreman could face a threat to his status as Chicago's lead back in the form of Khalil Herbert (ankle/shin). Herbert has missed the Bears' last five games and remains on injured reserve for the time being, but he's in the midst of his second week of practicing with the team and may be healthier than Foreman at the moment. Herbert was a full participant in Thursday's practice and looks poised to be activated ahead of Sunday's contest.

  • Bears' D'Onta Foreman: RBs to Sit

Khalil Herbert (ankle) is expected to return in Week 11, and we'll see how the Bears use Herbert in tandem with Foreman. Roschon Johnson could also remain in the mix, and this could be a messy backfield in Chicago. Foreman has done well filling in for Herbert and has two games with at least 17.2 PPR points in his past four outings. But Foreman also had at least 19 total touches in three of his past four games, and that's not likely to happen with Herbert back. Along with that, the Lions are No. 5 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs, and Foreman will likely struggle to find running room against Detroit. At best, Foreman and Herbert are flex options in Week 11, but both could lose rushing production to Justin Fields (thumb) as well in his return.

  • Bears' D'Onta Foreman: Managing ankle injury this week

Foreman was listed as a limited participant for Wednesday's practice due to an ankle injury. Despite having a longer turnaround for this Sunday's game in Detroit after the Bears played the Panthers on Thursday night a week ago, Foreman apparently isn't fully healthy as Chicago begins Week 11 prep. According to Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com, head coach Matt Eberflus said Foreman is progressing well after he was noticeably limping around in the locker room following the Week 10 contest, and the Bears have confidence the running back will be ready to go by the time Sunday arrives. Foreman will have two more chances to upgrade to full activity in practice to remove any lingering concern about his status for Sunday, but even if cleared to play, the 27-year-old could face more competition for the lead role out of the backfield. Khalil Herbert (ankle/shin) is heading into his second week of practices since being designated for return from injured reserve, and if activated ahead of Sunday's contest, he could poach some of the early down touches from Foreman. For his part, Foreman has done well to ensure he retains a sizable role moving forward; while Herbert has missed the Bears' last five games, Foreman has averaged 4.3 yards per carry over 81 totes while accounting for four touchdowns (three rushing, one receiving).

  • Bears' D'Onta Foreman: Another solid effort Thursday

Foreman rushed 21 times for 80 yards and a touchdown and secured both targets for 12 yards in the Bears' 16-13 win over the Panthers on Thursday night. Khalil Herbert (ankle) wasn't activated from injured reserve ahead of Thursday's game, affording Foreman at least one more run as the lead back. The bruising veteran took advantage of the opportunity to churn out another workman-like performance, one that featured his third rushing score of the season in the form of a four-yard run just past the halfway point of the third quarter. Foreman has eclipsed 80 rushing yards in three of his last four games, but with 10 days until Chicago's Week 11 divisional road showdown against the Lions, Herbert is likely to return for that contest and put a dent into Foreman's workload to some degree.

  • Bears' D'Onta Foreman: Likely to remain lead back Thursday

Foreman is expected to remain the Bears' lead option out of the backfield Thursday against the Panthers after Chicago didn't activate Kahlil Herbert (ankle) from injured reserve for Week 10, Larry Mayer of the Bears' official site reports. While Herbert was sidelined for each of the last four games and while Roschon Johnson was sidelined with a concussion for Weeks 6 and 7, Foreman -- who had been a healthy inactive Weeks 2 through 5 -- took the reins of the Chicago backfield. After accounting for 187 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns on 35 touches over his first two starts, Foreman proceeded to remain the Bears' top back while Johnson was back in the fold for the past two weeks, out-touching the rookie by a 30-12 margin. Herbert was designated for return from IR on Monday and was listed as a full practice participant throughout the week, but the Bears will wait at least one more week before adding him back to the roster. With the complexion of the Chicago backfield for Thursday's game being the same it as has been for the past two weeks, look for Foreman to once again lead the way in carries while Johnson mixes in for change-of-pace work.

  • Bears' D'Onta Foreman: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

Foreman gets at least one more game as the lead running back for the Bears with Khalil Herbert (ankle) not expected to return for Thursday's game against Carolina. And this is a revenge game for Foreman, who spent 2022 with the Panthers. So far, in four games without Herbert, Foreman has three games with 8.3 PPR points or less and one game with 33 PPR points. He's clearly tough to trust, but this is a great setup against Carolina. The Panthers are No. 2 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs, and eight running backs have scored at least 12.4 PPR points this season. Carolina also leads the NFL in most touchdowns allowed to running backs with 14, and Foreman is worth starting as a No. 2 running back in all leagues.

  • Bears' D'Onta Foreman: Solid workload as lead back

Foreman rushed 20 times for 83 yards in the Bears' 24-17 loss to the Saints on Sunday. The bruising back took on another heavy workload as the unquestioned lead back and was reasonably productive with the opportunity. Foreman didn't have any involvement in the passing game after logging eight targets over the previous three games, but his rushing yardage tally was his second over 80 in his four-game starting stint. Khalil Herbert (IR-ankle) is eligible to return for Thursday night's Week 10 matchup against the Panthers, but with Foreman putting together a solid body of work thus far and a divisional clash against the Lions on tap in Week 11, the Bears may opt to be cautious with Herbert for the time being.

  • Bears' D'Onta Foreman: RBs to Sit

Foreman was great in Week 7 against Las Vegas with 33 PPR points, but he cratered in Week 8 at the Chargers with 4.6 PPR points. That's now two games with 7.7 PPR points or less in three appearances since Khalil Herbert (ankle) went down in Week 5. Foreman will likely have another down game in Week 9 at New Orleans, as the Saints are No. 4 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs. Roschon Johnson and Darrynton Evans will continue to share touches with Foreman, who is a flex option at best in most leagues.

  • Bears' D'Onta Foreman: RBs to Start

I liked Foreman in Week 7 against the Raiders, but I didn't expect him to score three total touchdowns and finish with 33.0 PPR points. What I liked the most was 19 total touches, including three catches on five targets. It appears like Tyson Bagent will lean on Foreman in the passing game, although we'll see if Roschon Johnson (concussion) is able to play this week. But Foreman should remain the lead running back for the Bears no matter what happens with Johnson against the Chargers, who have allowed a running back to score at least 13.0 PPR points in all six games this season. Foreman is worth starting as a No. 2 running back in all leagues.

  • Bears' D'Onta Foreman: Three TDs in Week 7 win

Foreman carried the ball 16 times for 89 yards and two touchdowns while catching three of five targets for 31 yards and a third TD in Sunday's 30-12 win over the Raiders. With Khalil Herbert (ankle) on IR and Roschon Johnson not yet cleared through the league's concussion protocol, Foreman was the lead back for the Bears and scored his first touchdowns of the season in his first three-TD performance since Week 8 of last year, when he was with the Panthers. The veteran back has had trouble even getting onto the field in Chicago and was a healthy scratch for four of the first five games, but after this performance, Foreman figures to have a significant role in Week 8 against the Chargers regardless of Johnson's availability.

  • Bears' D'Onta Foreman: Sleeper RBs

Roschon Johnson (concussion) is out again in Week 7, and Khalil Herbert (ankle) remains on injured reserve. That means Foreman will once again be the lead running back for the Bears against the Raiders, and he's worth using as at least a flex option in all leagues. Foreman was in the lead role in Week 6 against Minnesota, and he had 15 carries for 65 yards, along with one catch for 2 yards on one target. Justin Fields (thumb) was hurt in that game, and Fields is out against the Raiders as well. Chicago will likely lean even more on Foreman to limit putting quarterback Tyson Bagent in a bad spot, and it's a favorable matchup against the Raiders. Las Vegas has allowed six running backs to score at least 11.1 PPR points this season (Samaje Perine, James Cook, Latavius Murray, A.J. Dillon, Rhamondre Stevenson and Ezekiel Elliott), and the Raiders have also allowed three rushing touchdowns in the past two games.

  • Bears' D'Onta Foreman: Solid performance as lead back

Foreman rushed 15 times for 65 yards and brought in his only target for two yards in the Bears' 19-13 loss to the Vikings on Sunday. Foreman took the reins of the backfield as expected with Khalil Herbert (IR-ankle) and Roschon Johnson (concussion) unavailable, and the veteran back put together a solid effort in a game during which the Bears lost Justin Fields to a hand injury. Foreman unsurprisingly didn't factor much into the passing game, but he certainly gave a strong enough accounting to continue handling lead-back duties in a Week 7 home matchup versus the Raiders if Johnson is unable to clear concussion protocol in time for that contest.
