Texans' Jacob Martin: Tests positive for COVID-19
The Texans placed Martin on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday. Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports that Martin, along with Maliek Collins and Derek Rivers, all tested positive for the virus. The 2018 sixth-round pick has played over 40 percent of the Texans' defensive snaps in every game this season, so his potential absence Week 16 against the Chargers would be a big loss.... Texans' Jacob Martin: Records sack off edge
Martin had two tackles and one sack in Thursday's 34-20 loss to the Chiefs. Martin came off the edge and got to Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes on the Chiefs' first drive, taking them out of field-goal range. During training camp, Texans defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver talked about a larger role for Martin, who recorded 3.5 sacks while playing 21 percent of the snaps on defense in 2019, but the edge rusher played just 18 snaps (26 percent) Thursday.... Texans' Jacob Martin: Shows off speed in scrimmage
Martin scooped up a fumble and ran it in for a touchdown during Thursday's scrimmage, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports. Martin is a budding IDP candidate for the Texans and is expected to play a larger role in 2020. He played just 221 defensive snaps (21 percent) in 2019 but contributed 3.5 sacks. He'll be on the field in all passing situations and could get more snaps if he establishes himself against the run.... See More ... See Less -
Texans' Jacob Martin: Questionable for Sunday
Martin (knee) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Titans. Martin was limited in practice throughout the week, which was an upgrade from last week when he was unable to see any practice time. Seahawks' Jacob Martin: Sees heightened role late in season
Martin made 10 tackles (eight solo), three sacks and forced two fumbles in the 2018 season. The rookie sixth-round pick spent most of the year developing his craft behind a mix of Barkevious Mingo, K.J. Wright and Mychal Kendricks (knee), but Martin passed Mingo in the pecking order over the final two games, including the playoff loss to Dallas. He proved to be a skilled pass rusher and made more sacks than any other Seahawks linebacker. Martin will look to earn a more consistent role in 2019.... See More ... See Less
