Jets' Allen Lazard: Big-money bust in 2023
Lazard finished the season with 23 catches for 311 yards and one touchdown on 49 targets.
Lazard signed a four-year, $44 million contract with the Jets in the offseason and was expected to offer a familiar face on the outside for Aaron Rodgers, but after Rodgers tore his Achilles in Week 1, Lazard failed to establish any chemistry with New York's other quarterbacks despite handling a starting role on the outside for most of the season. He appeared in 14 games, sitting two out as a healthy scratch and missing one due to an illness. The Jets have almost no choice but to bring Lazard back given his contract, but they'll almost certainly look for an upgrade at wide receiver to start opposite Garrett Wilson and push Lazard down the depth chart in 2024.

Lazard (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's season finale against the Patriots.
Lazard didn't carry an injury designation ahead of the contest, so he's a healthy scratch in Week 18. In his absence, Garrett Wilson, Jason Brownlee, Xavier Gipson, Irvin Charles and Randall Cobb are the Jets' available WRs versus New England.

Lazard was inactive for the Jets' Week 17 loss to the Browns while he was under the weather, but he looks like he'll be ready to play in the season finale Sunday versus the Patriots. It's been a forgettable first season with the Jets for the veteran wideout, who has produced a meager 23-311-1 receiving line on 49 targets after signing with New York to be Garrett Wilson's top running mate out wide.

Lazard (illness) is inactive for Thursday night's game against the Browns.
After being listed as a non-participant in Wednesday's practice due to an illness, the veteran wideout was deemed questionable for Thursday's contest. With Lazard officially sidelined Week 17, Garrett Wilson, Jason Brownlee and Xavier Gipson are in line to lead the Jets' Week 17 WR corps, with Irvin Charles and Randall Cobb also on hand to mix in.

Lazard (illness) isn't in line to play Thursday against the Browns, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
After missing Wednesday's practice due to an illness, the wideout was deemed questionable for the contest. Lazard apparently didn't make enough progress in his recovery from the ailment to suit up Thursday, so he's expected to be included among the Jets' Week 17 inactives, which will be released 90 minutes prior to the game's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff. Randall Cobb is expected to suit up Thursday to bolster the Jets' depth at receiver in Lazard's absence.

Lazard didn't appear on either of the Jets' first two Week 17 injury report, but he was listed as a non-participant Wednesday on account of the illness. The wideout's status for Thursday's game is thus cloudy at the moment, with clarity coming once the team releases its inactive list 90 minutes prior to the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff. Even if he plays, Lazard -- who didn't catch his lone target in the Jets' Week 16 win over the Commanders -- is off the fantasy radar in all but the deepest of formats.

Lazard didn't catch his lone target in Sunday's 30-28 win over the Commanders.
Lazard was on the field for only 27 percent of offensive snaps while Jason Brownlee (82 percent) saw most of the playing time opposite Garrett Wilson (96 percent). Lazard hasn't topped 21 receiving yards in a game since Week 8, and his modest usage will make it tough to bounce back Thursday in Cleveland.
