Player Outlook
Lazard followed quarterback Aaron Rodgers from the Packers to the Jets, but will Rodgers even notice?! Lazard caught 60% of his career-high 100 targets last year, but in two very different halves. From Weeks 2 through 9, Lazard averaged 7.3 targets and 14.7 PPR points per game. Then Christian Watson became a thing and Lazard got the cold shoulder to the tune of 6.1 targets and 9.0 PPR points per game in his final eight. Will Rodgers feed his familiar big man, or will he latch on to second-year dynamo Garrett Wilson and leave Lazard languishing? There shouldn't be much excitement for Lazard in your leagues, which is why targeting him in Round 11 or 12 allows you to settle for low -- and beatable -- expectations.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Makes three catches in loss

Lazard caught three of five targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 15-10 loss to the Patriots. Lazard finished nine receiving yards shy of Garrett Wilson's team-best total while tying Tyler Conklin for second behind Wilson in both targets and catches. Despite being locked in as the Jets' No. 2 wide receiver, Lazard has failed to reach 50 yards in a game heading into a Week 4 home game against the Chiefs.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Catches two passes in Week 2

Lazard caught two of four targets for 23 yards in Sunday's 30-10 loss to the Cowboys. Lazard finished third on the team in both targets and receiving yards behind Garrett Wilson (undisclosed) and tight end Tyler Conklin. Wilson provided most of New York's offense with a 68-yard touchdown catch and is expected to be available in Week 3 against the Patriots after having the wind knocked out of him late in the game. While Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) has a history of keeping numerous receivers fantasy-relevant simultaneously, the same can't be said of Zach Wilson, so Lazard's role as a starter on the outside won't necessarily earn him significant target volume or fantasy production.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Two catches after Rodgers injury

Lazard caught two of four targets for 46 yards in Monday's 22-16 overtime win over the Bills. Lazard's decision to join the Jets in the offseason was undoubtedly influenced by the then-impending arrival of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but the former Packers teammates played just four snaps together before Rodgers suffered what is feared to be a season-ending Achilles injury. Lazard went on to lead the team in receiving yards as backup Zach Wilson threw for 140 yards in a win fueled by the defense's four forced Josh Allen turnovers. Lazard is locked into a starting role on the outside heading into a Week 2 trip to Dallas, but that prominent usage is much less exciting with Wilson throwing the ball rather than Rodgers.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Avoids Week 1 injury report

Lazard (shoulder) wasn't listed Thursday on the Jets' first Week 1 injury report, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Lazard thus looks to be in the clear to serve as one of the Jets' starting receivers in Monday's season opener versus Buffalo. Though Lazard will be making his Jets debut in Week 1, he should be in store for a fairly seamless transition. In addition to making the jump from Green Bay to New York with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Lazard will be reunited with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who directed the Packers offense from 2019 through 2021. Second-year wideout Garrett Wilson will represent the Jets' No. 1 option in the passing game, but Lazard's skills as a blocker and familiarity with Rodgers should ensure him a near-every down role on offense.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Set to practice Tuesday

Lazard (shoulder) will practice Tuesday, Eric Allen of the Jets' official site reports. Lazard had been dealing with an AC joint injury in his shoulder, but the wideout's return to the practice field Tuesday has him in line to be available come Week 1. As the coming season approaches, Lazard is projected to be a key cog in a Jets receiving corps that will be led by Garrett Wilson and which also includes Mecole Hardman and Randall Cobb.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Diagnosed with AC joint injury

Lazard will miss practice Thursday with an AC joint injury in his shoulder, but he's expected to be fine for Week 1, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports. The report notes that Lazard's status for a preseason game against the Giants on Saturday is unclear following his injury during Thursday's practice. It'll be surprising if he ends up playing given the low stakes, especially after Corey Davis' recent, surprise retirement took a chunk out of the Jets' WR depth. Lazard and Garrett Wilson are the top two, with Mecole Hardman and Randall Cobb perhaps competing for the third spot and a hoard of undrafted players fighting for one or two depth roles behind them.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Expected back soon

Lazard (undisclosed) isn't expected to miss significant time due to the injury he suffered in practice Wednesday, Connor Hughes of SportsNet New York reports. Lazard exited practice early Wednesday after making the play of the day by scoring a 30-yard touchdown over cornerback Sauce Gardner. While a specific return timeframe for Lazard has yet to be established, Hughes relays that all indications point to the wideout dealing with a short-term issue. Lazard will likely be kept out of Saturday's preseason finale against the Giants but should be good to go for the Sept. 11 season opener against the Bills. Upon his return, Lazard will face less competition for playing time, as fellow big-bodied receiver Corey Davis surprisingly announced his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday, per Andy Vasquez of The Newark Star-Ledger.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Early practice exit

Lazard departed Wednesday's practice early with an undisclosed injury, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports. According to Connor Hughes of SNY.tv reports, Lazard made a standout play in practice with a 30-yard touchdown reception over cornerback Sauce Gardner, but he appears to have picked up an injury near the end of the session. Head coach Robert Saleh's press conference Thursday should bring an update on Lazard's health, if the Jets don't offer one before then. With Corey Davis having announced his retirement Wednesday, Lazard will likely be assured a key role on offense, assuming he's healthy for Week 1.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Suited up Saturday

Lazard is suited up for Saturday's preseason game versus the Panthers, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports. Lazard didn't play in the Jets' preseason opener last Thursday, but it looks like he'll get some game action Saturday along with fellow wideouts Corey Davis and Mecole Hardman. Aaron Rodgers isn't expected to play, so all three veteran wideouts will look to develop chemistry with Zach Wilson, who figures to get an extended look for a second straight exhibition.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Not suiting up Thursday

Lazard isn't in line to play in Thursday's Hall of Fame Game against the Browns, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports. In his first chance to get some game action with quarterback Aaron Rodgers with their new team, Lazard won't be on the field along with fellow wide receivers Garrett Wilson (ankle), Corey Davis and Mecole Hardman. Lazard's next chance for some exhibition action lands on Saturday, Aug. 12 in Carolina.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Participating in practice Sunday

Lazard (undisclosed) returned to practice Sunday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. The Jets are still without Garrett Wilson (ankle), but they got Lazard and Randall Cobb (ankle) back Sunday. Lazard had been dealing with general muscle tightness, but as expected, it was a minor issue and didn't keep him sidelined long. The Iowa State product followed Aaron Rodgers to New York this offseason after posting career highs in receptions (60), targets (100) and receiving yards (788) with the Packers in 2022.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Dealing with muscle tightness

Lazard (undisclosed) didn't practice Tuesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Per coach Robert Saleh, Lazard had some muscle tightness, which led to the wideout sitting out the session. Saleh didn't indicate which muscle(s) were the issue though, and it doesn't sound serious. Once he returns to practice, Lazard will look to solidify his role in a Jets WR corps that also includes Garrett Wilson, Mecole Hardman and Corey Davis. Working in Lazard's favor from a fantasy perspective is his established chemistry with the team's new starting QB, Aaron Rodgers.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Lands deal with Jets

Lazard agreed Tuesday with the Jets on a four-year contract, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the 27-year-old will earn up to $44 million in the deal. Lazard is poised to join a Jets wideout corps that also includes Garrett Wilson, Corey Davis and Elijah Moore, but the size of his contract suggests the former Packer won't be buried on the depth chart. Meanwhile, the Jets' quarterback situation remains unsettled, but Lazard -- who caught 60 passes for 788 yards and six touchdowns in 15 games with the Packers in 2022 -- could end up reuniting with Aaron Rodgers this coming season.

  • Packers' Allen Lazard: In talks with Jets

Lazard and New York are engaged in active contract discussions Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The Jets are, at a minimum, working to reunite Lazard with new offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, although ongoing speculation of Aaron Rodgers potentially ending up with Gang Green could also be playing a role. Lazard recorded a career-best 60-788-6 receiving line through 15 appearances in Green Bay last season, and he's set to become an unrestricted free agent at the start of the new league year Wednesday.

  • Packers' Allen Lazard: Scores TD in defeat

Lazard had four receptions (six targets) for 41 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-16 loss to Detroit. He rushed twice for no gain. Lazard finished the season on a high note, scoring his first touchdown since Week 9. The veteran wideout took a back seat to rookie Christian Watson in the second half of the season, but he still set new career highs in receptions (64) and yards (829) while scoring seven touchdowns. Lazard will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, providing solid hands and excellent run blocking for teams interested in acquiring him.

  • Packers' Allen Lazard: Leading receiver in rout

Lazard caught five of six targets for 59 yards in Sunday's 41-17 win over the Vikings. The Packers ran away with this one and didn't need to pass the ball much, so Lazard's modest numbers led the team in both catches and receiving yards. The veteran wideout has failed to score a TD in seven straight games, topping out at five receptions and 67 yards during that stretch, but Green Bay may need Lazard to produce a ceiling game in a must-win Week 18 clash with Detroit.

  • Packers' Allen Lazard: WRs to Start

I wish this was Christian Watson in this spot, but he missed practice Wednesday and could be out with a hip injury in Week 17. If Watson is out then look for Lazard to be the go-to receiver for Aaron Rodgers in a dream matchup against the Vikings, who are No. 1 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing receivers. There have been 10 receivers to score at least 12 PPR points against Minnesota in the past five games alone, and Lazard has top-20 upside in all leagues if he's the featured receiver for Green Bay in this matchup. I would also use Romeo Doubs as a No. 3 receiver in the majority of leagues if Watson were out.

  • Packers' Allen Lazard: Leading receiver against Miami

Lazard caught five of 11 targets for 61 yards in Sunday's 26-20 win over the Dolphins. Christian Watson (hip) had a big first half before getting hurt, so Lazard wound up leading the Packers in targets and receiving yards while finishing one reception behind Watson. If the rookie wideout isn't ready to go for Week 17 against the Vikings, Lazard figures to be Aaron Rodgers' top option against a Minnesota secondary that has been vulnerable almost all year.

  • Packers' Allen Lazard: WRs to Sit

Lazard was struggling when just Christian Watson was on the field with him, but now Lazard also has to contend with Romeo Doubs, who returned to action in Week 15 against the Rams following a five-game absence with an ankle injury. Lazard only had one catch for 7 yards on two targets against the Rams, and he's now scored seven PPR points or less in three of his past five games, with a high of 11 PPR points over that span. He also hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 9. I like Watson as a No. 2 Fantasy receiver in all leagues, and Doubs is a borderline low-end No. 3 Fantasy receiver. As for Lazard, consider him a desperate No. 3 Fantasy receiver in Week 16 at Miami.

  • Packers' Allen Lazard: Quiet night in win

Lazard brought in one of two targets for seven yards in the Packers' 24-12 win over the Rams on Monday night. Lazard notably took a back seat to the rookie duo of Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson, who finished with a combined 9-101 line on 11 targets. Lazard's catch and yardage totals were both season lows for the fifth-year veteran, and the fact they came in a rare instance where both Doubs and Watson were available is worth at least keeping in mind. However, the Packers waived veteran Sammy Watkins earlier Monday, so Lazard should still have a solid amount of opportunities for targets during what remains of the regular season.
