  • Chargers' Gerald Everett: Steps up in playoff loss

Everett recorded six receptions on eight targets for 109 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 31-30 wild-card round loss to the Jaguars. The Chargers' group of pass catchers was depleted, as Mike Williams (back) was inactive while DeAndre Carter suffered an ankle injury in the second quarter. That led to increased opportunity for Everett, who tallied his first 100-yard performance of the season. He accounted for four of the team's five longest gains from scrimmage, including two catches of 25 yards. Everett also added a nine-yard touchdown midway through the second quarter. Everett recorded a career-best 58 receptions and 555 yards across 16 games during the regular season and remains under contract with Los Angeles for the 2023 campaign.

  • Chargers' Gerald Everett: Another touchdown in Week 18

Everett secured three of five targets for eight yards and a touchdown in the Chargers' 31-28 loss to the Broncos on Sunday. Everett offset a minuscule yardage total with a three-yard scoring grab early in the second quarter, his second touchdown in as many games. Everett didn't top 42 receiving yards in any of his last four games and failed to exceed that mark in seven of the last eight overall, but he could play a larger role in Saturday's wild-card road matchup against the Jaguars if Mike Williams is limited or sidelined by the back injury that forced his early exit Sunday.

  • Chargers' Gerald Everett: TEs to Sit

Everett had a revenge game against his former team in Week 17 against the Rams with three catches for 15 yards and a touchdown on three targets. That was his first touchdown since Week 4 and just his second game with double digits in PPR since Week 7. This week, he's facing a Broncos defense that held him to seven PPR points in Week 6 with five catches for 29 yards on seven targets. Denver should be able to limit Everett again in the rematch.

  • Chargers' Gerald Everett: Catches touchdown in win

Everett recorded three receptions on three targets for 15 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-10 win over the Rams. Keenan Allen and Mike Williams accounted for the majority of the targets from Justin Herbert, leaving minimal opportunity for Everett and other peripheral pass catchers. However, Everett got a target near the goal line and converted that into a six-yard touchdown to put the Chargers up 24-10. It was his first trip to the end zone since Week 4, though Everett still has seen his role decrease in recent weeks due to the return of both Williams and Allen.

  • Chargers' Gerald Everett: TEs to Sit

Everett hit rock bottom in Week 16 at Indianapolis with no targets, and it's continued a rough stretch of games for him where he's scored eight PPR points or less in six of his past seven outings. Everett hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 4, and he's been at 42 receiving yards or less in six of his past seven games. With Mike Williams and Keenan Allen healthy, Everett's production has cratered, and he's not worth starting in the majority of leagues in Week 17 against the Rams.

  • Chargers' Gerald Everett: No targets in win

Everett failed to draw a target in Monday's 20-3 win over the Colts. After three straight games with six or more targets, Everett's usage plummeted with little resistance posed by the opposing offense. Typically, Everett has been Justin Herbert's reliable safety net, but the Colts could not contain Keenan Allen, as the reliable wideout drew 10-plus targets in the first half alone. It's possible the offense could play within itself once more in a date with the inconsistent Rams next week.

  • Chargers' Gerald Everett: Solid outing in win

Everett corralled four of his six targets for 42 yards in the 17-14 win over the Titans on Sunday. Even with the return of Donald Parham (hamstring) from injured reserve, Everett continued to be Justin Herbert's safety valve, as Sunday saw the veteran tally his eighth game with at least four catches in his past 10 contests. Everett's yards-per-catch figures (10.2) are far from spectacular, but he's been a reliable option in a positional fantasy landscape that has been anything but. Expect a similar output in a critical game against the Colts next week.

  • Chargers' Gerald Everett: Sit Him (Lineup Decisions)

The Chargers don't use Everett the same way the Jaguars use Engram, so it's going to be really tough to expect anything close to what we got from Engram last week. Frankly, Everett is used mostly as a short-area option when the Chargers' receiving corps is at full strength. He could always score, but don't expect a particularly good game since his role has devolved and he's not separating from coverage. I'd rather start Greg Dulcich or Tyler Conklin in full PPR, and those guys plus Taysom Hill and Dawson Knox in non-PPR.

  • Chargers' Gerald Everett: Piles up targets

Everett caught five of his eight targets for 28 yards in the 23-17 win Sunday over the Dolphins. Everett was primarily used for short-yardage dump-offs with the likes of Mike Williams and Keenan Allen stretching the field. It's encouraging to see the tight end still rack up the targets despite the return of Williams, but it's hard to imagine Everett really emerging as an obvious fantasy asset with an average depth of target under eight yards in three of the past five weeks.

  • Chargers' Gerald Everett: Sets season-high figures

Everett caught five of his six targets for 80 yards in Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Raiders. Everett recorded the second-most receiving yards on the Chargers despite just six targets as the Raiders seemed content letting the tight end work the middle of the field. The 28-year-old is easily on pace to surpass both his career high in receiving yards (478) and receptions (48) set last year with the Seahawks, but he's failed to be much of a touchdown threat with just two total on the year. It's hard to imagine the veteran copying his season-high figures in future weeks due to the limited usage, but the Chargers' offense has been reliant on the aerial attack recently, thus making Everett a low-end fantasy play most weeks.

  • Chargers' Gerald Everett: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

Everett didn't take advantage of the dream matchup against the Cardinals in Week 12 with just four catches for 18 yards on four targets, along with a two-point conversion. But he should rebound this week against the Raiders, who are No. 6 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing tight ends. In Week 1, Everett had three catches for 54 yards and a touchdown on four targets against Las Vegas, and hopefully he can replicate that performance again in the rematch.

  • Chargers' Gerald Everett: Quiet against Cardinals

Everett recorded four receptions on four targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 25-24 win over the Cardinals. He also converted a two-point conversion. Everett was not targeted until early in the third quarter, and he was having an abysmal game until late in the final quarter. However, he tallied two receptions for 13 yards during the Chargers' touchdown drive late in the game, and he then caught the game-winning two-point conversion. Everett has recorded multiple receptions in five consecutive games, though he's topped 40 yards only once in that span.

  • Chargers' Gerald Everett: Sleeper TEs

Everett (groin) will return in Week 12 against the Cardinals after sitting out in Week 11 against the Chiefs, and he has top-10 potential because playing Arizona is the dream matchup. The Cardinals are No. 1 in Fantasy points allowed to opposing tight ends, and nine tight ends have scored at least 10 PPR points against this defense, including three in a row (Noah Fant, Tyler Higbee and George Kittle). Everett might struggle for targets with Keenan Allen and Josh Palmer on the field, but Everett is worth trusting as a starter in all leagues given the matchup with Arizona.

Everett (groin) will hopefully play in Week 12 against the Cardinals after sitting out in Week 11 against the Chiefs because playing Arizona is the dream matchup. The Cardinals are No. 1 in Fantasy points allowed to opposing tight ends, and nine tight ends have scored at least 10 PPR points against this defense, including three in a row (Noah Fant, Tyler Higbee and George Kittle). Everett might struggle for targets if Mike Williams (ankle) plays with Keenan Allen back and Josh Palmer playing well, but Everett is worth trusting as a starter in all leagues given the matchup with Arizona.

  • Chargers' Gerald Everett: Gets in full session

Everett (groin) practiced fully Thursday. Everett, who was inactive for this past Sunday's loss to the Chiefs, thus is on track to return to action this weekend against the 4-7 Cardinals, who gave up two TDs to TE George Kittle in a Week 11 loss to the 49ers. Through nine appearances to date, Everett has put together a 34-364-2 line on 55 targets, a rate of production that provides the 28-year-old with lineup utility in deeper fantasy formats.

  • Chargers' Gerald Everett: Logs limited practice

Everett (groin) was a limited participant at practice Wednesday. Everett was inactive for this past Sunday's loss to the Chiefs, but his ability to practice Wednesday -- albeit in a limited fashion -- suggests that he has a chance to return to action this weekend against the Cardinals. In his absence last week, Tre' McKitty, Richard Rodgers and Stone Smartt served as the Chargers' tight end, but no members of the trio possess Everett's pass-catching upside.

  • Chargers' Gerald Everett: On track to practice

Everett (groin) is expected to practice Wednesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports. Everett missed Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Chiefs, but the tight end's ability to practice Wednesday bodes well for his chances of suiting up this weekend against the Cardinals. In his absence Week 11, Tre' McKitty, Richard Rodgers and Stone Smartt handled the Chargers' tight-end snaps, but Smartt was the only one to log a target.

  • Chargers' Gerald Everett: Inactive Sunday

Everett (groin) is inactive for Sunday night's game against the Chiefs. After initially approaching the weekend without an injury designation, Everett was downgraded to questionable Saturday, setting the stage for him to sit this one out. In his absence, Tre' McKitty, Richard Rodgers and Stone Smartt are available to handle the Chargers' tight end duties, with McKitty -- who caught three of his six targets for 21 yards in relief of Everett in Week 10 versus the 49ers -- seemingly poised to see an expanded role again.

  • Chargers' Gerald Everett: Re-added to injury report

Everett (groin) was added to Saturday's injury report and is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Chiefs. Everett failed to make it through the second quarter of Sunday's loss to the 49ers after sustaining a groin injury. The veteran tight practiced all week and was eventually cleared of the injury report, so Saturday's designation should be concerning for fantasy managers. The Chargers also activated undrafted rookie tight end Stone Smartt (undisclosed) off the NFI list, another move that could spell Everett's absence. If Everett is unable to play, Tre' McKitty or Richard Rodgers would likely see the majority of the pass-catching reps.
